Basically i think its the same as last season when Burley left. We need someone who will rip into the players when they don't perform. The nice nice aproach is right majority of the time when you bring in young unexperienced players, players who come on for like the last 20 mins or so of a game. But really this club has to stay up or it is over. The players have to realise if they go 0-1 down they can't just go "ah right well there is always next week". That mentality is what i warned about in pre-season. If you have that view your eventually run out of games, and that is what we have here. The start of the season passed into quarter of a season, then half a season and now we have just 18 games left. 9 of which are home games. 7 of those 9 games are against teams within the top 10 only 5 points from promotion spot. That tells you what we are up against. The 2 other games are Derby and Charlton which are gigantic games. So in my view we need someone in the Pearson mould, someone who will get the team playing as a team and make us hard to beat. We can't score goals, as much as we want to be an attacking team were not. We need to get back to traditional english football not this tip tap non effective **** from Holland. Someone like Boothroyd,Ince or Pardew could do that. But i just can't see any of them working with Lowe even if they did want to come here which lets be honest is unlikely, would you want to come here?

Before we start calling for this or that new manager to replace Poortvliet we'd do well to remember Rupert Lowe would actually make that decision - hands up who thinks he's going to get it right ?

A new board and then a new manager would be the way to do it , but we'll probably get neither in the foreseeable future I'm sorry to say .

Short term till the end of the season would be Cotterill,Dowie or Boothroyd (God forbid !) to try and keep us up.Perhaps Hoddle even.

End of the season, bring someone ambitious and capable to build the club again.Tisdale is the candidate.

BUT,for anything or anyone to make it happen Lowe must f^ck off first.

If Lowe left tomorrow who'd take over? Don't forget that we are skint and, for now, Lowe appears to have the confidence of the bank. If he went, it's likely that the bank would call in it's debt and that would mean administration.

As for managers, we couldn't afford any of those mentioned. They'd be working with the same very limited squad and shouting and bawling at young kids would destroy any confidence that they might have. JP must be doing something right (away wins at Reading and Barnsley) but the home form is disastrous. I don't know what the answer is but I can't see getting rid of JP (or Lowe) would bring about a miraculous transformation.

But there will be only downwards spiral guaranteed otherwise. A change is critical. ANY change at least provides some optimism to certain failure.

Realistically we wouldn't get any of the above as a) they would no doubt cost too much, b) Poortvliet isn't going to resign and c) nobody is going to want to work under Lowe/Wilde are they?

Ignoring that however, I'd like to see Boothroyd given a go. He'd get us working hard and fighting for our lives in my opinion. Wouldn't mind Ince either although I feel we could do with a little more experience at this moment in time.

We can afford every single manager mentioned here.

All of them would work under Lowe - Dowie would, Boothroyd would, Holloway would, Cotteril would, they all would.

The exceptions are Keane and Shearer because I doubt either want to be managers that badly to risk losing face with us.

All the rest would rip your arm off if offered the Saints job.

There's plenty of other tw a t chairmen around, and beggar managers who want to manage a proper club with great facilities and real kudos (which is what we are) can't be choosers.

Or do you really think Steve Cotterill, Ian Holloway, Alan Pardew and Adrian Boothroyd are waiting for "something better" to come along...like what exactly? Chelsea?

Stop doing our club down please.

We've got to go for Hoddle. we should have done five years ago. This time the vocal few will have to hold their tongues and put the club first.

Rubbish. I refer you back to what i said the other day in reply to a post of yours:

Heard Billy Davies on 5 live today. He sounded chirpy confident and enthuisiastic. Straight talking and no nonsense and with clarity.

I can see why he wins in the dressing room and i can see why people want to play for him.

Here is a man with that unique factor.. presence aka Shankly, Clough, Fiergie, WGS

I reckon Forest will be pushing for promotion next year.

And the picture you paint of a good manager (which is correct) is also why Hoddle burnt out so quickly. At Swindon and Saints Hoddle relied on his reputation as a great player - and it worked. But at Spurs and Wolves he flopped because his past was no longer a big factor with players who hadn't worshipped him and they saw him for what he was - a boring self centred control freak with no personality. To understand Hoddle as a person you just have to look back to when he was at Chelsea and tried to sign Le Tissier. Le Tissier stayed loyal and because of that Hoddle did not pick him for England. This is a fact because this is the kind of person Hoddle is. This is why Hoddle would not have been any good if he had been given a second spell at Saints.

I think long-term Hoddle would be a good choice but I think at the moment we need more a 'roll the sleeves up', 'matter of fact' manager to get the organisation, fitness, shape and targets of the team sorted out. Exactly what Pearson did this time last season.

Right now I would go for Dowie.
