When do we play them? They have some decent players but not for the system they are currently using. Best two attacking players starting on the bench. 2

Every time someone says, "the manager has got to go FFS! It can't possibly get any worse than this!" I think of decisions like this. And we replaced Jones with Selles……🤭
austsaint Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I’ve got a feeling that the highlight of Selle’s managerial career will be the first up win as our manager against Chelsea, parading around with the black skivvy and blue suit. Fleetingly we thought we might have the next big thing. All downhill since.
IFHP Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago No coincidence that when Dragan and his mates appointed Selles Saints went down hill .

At this rate we might be able to pick up hamer in January ( if he does not go epl) in a deal with sufc that includes one of our forwards that’s not had much game time on loan or sold but rated going other way plus cash.

I know many Reading fans that were sad to see him go, and would take him back in a heart beat. He had no money and hardly any players in his squad, and they only just missed out on the playoffs. Apart from that he has been rubbish everywhere else, and he really needed to hit the ground running. The fans did not want to see CW go, and they loved the idiot, but this has been a huge disaster from the off! He did do well at Reading & he was even ok at Hull. But as you say he’s been a disaster at Sheffield. Why they sacked Wilder is beyond me, the supporters weren’t demanding it, and he was really unlucky at Wembley where they somehow managed to lose a game they dominated. 1
die Mannyschaft Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) Doesn't look good good him. The players are good enough but if they get cut adrift next 2 or 3 games clubs get rid asap. Except Saints Edited 21 hours ago by die Mannyschaft

Or two, if they're willing to take them, plus come cash. 🙂 1

Besides the late sublime Ward-Prowse free kick, it was Lavia, Stu Armstrong and even ABK who stood tall. Selles finest hour.

In the comments under the BBC article one fan suggested that SUFC were solid in 2nd place - but then lost their last 3 league games against bottom six opposition, when just one win would have given them the points to finish 2nd. Arrogance also mentioned. Edited 21 hours ago by Patches O Houlihan
Wade Garrett Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Selles is more of a fraud of a manager than Russell Martin. What possessed them to sack Wilder and appoint this idiot? 1

Midfield_General Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Another clueless philosophy manager making his players look stupid by forcing them to play suicidal football. Hope they stick with him. 1

There was some talk at the time that Wilder and the owners clashed over transfer strategy - owners were going down the data driven route and Wilder wanted more of a say. Not sure how true that is but Wilder leaving hasn't done them any favours.
miserableoldgit Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I seem to remember that a lot of people on here wanted him as manager over the closed season.....mind, I am very old, so may be misremembering..,..

Martin did have a lot of say and money to spend on improving that squad.... Instead he chose BBD, Cornet, Wood, Edwards, Taylor, Fraser, Archer ....
