Thought it was interesting Still said recently that we need to bring in a few and shift out a few, then said "but I've been saying that for a few weeks now" - could be just a simple statement of fact but he sounded a little frustrated, so maybe not happy with the way those responsible are handling the transfer window? I really hope they are not going to fail to address the obvious weaknesses in the squad. I like Still, he come across well but he needs backing.

Appears to be a trusted source to Armenia Football, despite having a very small number of followers.

how much did Downs cost? Surely not 'big bucks' for this league

If so, he is our new striker and that will be that

£6-7m I think.

Yes, a big outlay for the Championship. And for that you’d hope we’d have signed a starter, not a gamble on a youngster.

How many more seasons do we have to wait for a good striker? We've been trying to sort this out for an eternity and it is holding us back. Every team needs a strong guy to lead the line and bang in a few goals - it's a crucial part of the spine of any side. We cannot make do and mend for yet another season.

We've bought Downs to do this job. He may not work out, but we aren't getting anther striker in this window.

Pretty evident that he's waiting for a better option to come along. Just stringing us along until a bottom half Premier League team inevitably swoops in.

Didn't he already turn us down in early July, as he thought he'd get offers from a top European league?

Yes, think he rejected it weeks ago. Seems we’ve spent our time chasing his shadow since.

But all the noise and leaks are from their end, or his agent. Perhaps we shelved it privately as well, and are more focused on other realistic targets

Let's just hope the club have a plan B to this guy as he's clearly been the top target.

Don’t worry, we’ll find a dud to spend €10m on instead from another European league.

Rudoni is presumably the plan B.

Yeah I get that but he was bought as an alternative to Stewart who would obviously have been considered the senior option. My point is that I have no confidence that Stewart will ever be ready to start games regularly because he just seems to have one set back followed by another. If Stewart is never going to play we are left with Downs and what if he struggles (which I think he will) or picks up an injury.

Not sure anyone can blame him for waiting until the 11th hour to sign for a championship club. We're not exactly the most desirable destination. Second flight football and quite a lot of foreign signings that have not worked out terribly well.

I don't think it's clear either who is stalling, him or his club.

One thing is clear though, he does want a move to a European side. He has been very open about that.

Appears Rudoni wants to stay at Coventry so that's a non starter.

I don't think Rudoni is at all similar to Spertsyan.

Really? Seems strange for us to be bidding for a player that has no intention of leaving.

A fair bit of time left, but a busy couple of weeks for everyone.

No doubt offers for Suga, Wood, Taylor, ABK, Smallbone, Aribo, Edozie, BBD would all be considered.

Dibling and Fernandez still our marquee players gaining interest.

If no on meets the marquee prices, still leaves us with...

GK - Baz, McCarthy

DR- Bree (Fraser providing cover here now)

DL - Welington, Manning

DC - THB, Stephens, Quarshie, Edwards, Sanda

MC - Charles, Downes

AMC - Fernandes, Matsuki

AM - Armstrong, Fraser, Dibling, Robinson

FC - Archer, Downs, Stewart (Armstrong as cover here)

An upper championship squad. Which, considering SR have had a very long time to build for a promotion, looks a bit underwhelming. It's certainly not near the team that managed 15th when they took over.

It desperately needs a creative attacking midfielder as well as physical power down at least one flank (that Tella replacement)

We've settled on our forwards really, but that Romeu replacement is still sorely needed. If Suga goes, then a new right sided defender would definitely be needed.

Keeping either Taylor or Wood would give us a bit more experience at the back. No doubt a new squad 'keeper will come in.

It needs a bit of quality in a few positions to boost us from being in the mix to bring a front runner.

Elyounoussi it is then.

Shudder.

Jus took a look at his wiki page and he's cored 19 goals in 61 league games for Copenhagen since he departed. Remove his period at Saints and he's scored 99 goals in 300 league games.

Armstrong is starting ahead of Archer and Sugawara gets in our squad ahead if Bree.

Think they’ll try and shift Sugawara on if they can and bring in a right back who can play in a four.

AA does start ahead of Archer. He offers more to the team than Archer. But I think Archer is the better finisher from a central position. So, when putting the basic labels on them, I put AA more as one of a front three, than in the middle.

Suga was one of the ones I could see moving on. If, so I'd prefer a replacement than seeing Fraser there all season.

Clearly we must have upset City last season in getting our magnificent 12th point.

Sure, but selling unfortunately requires there to be a buyer, which is the big problem for the majority of this list....

It's definitely an indication of how bloated our squad is, when you can remove all of those (plus those already gone) and it not making an impact on the first team, in terms of quality.

Aribo and Edozie have interest. ABK was a failed medical away from moving last time, Suga and Will have had interest in the past. Both Wood and Taylor are experienced, so would help out a lot of clubs.

No idea about BBD. He got a loan move last season, which is something I guess.

About Southampton, you said there was a serious offer. We're curious, is there another offer?"

Did we really need the translation?

Can we add him to the Defectors Watch?

when is the public burning of the heretic who spread this story?

Anyone remember the Quincy Promes drawn out failed transfer in Poch’s time? Played for Spartak Moscow and was later jailed for drugs and assault.

Yep. Seems to be playing the game for a bigger move.

Fuck him off and move on to someone else.

I’d imagine this is a loan with no option, so I expect we’re staying well away from that as it just means we’d need to address the position again in a year.

A lot of people seem to be getting very angry that he's messing us around however if you read some of the tweets from the Armenian mob then it says the player has agreed terms with us but the clubs have not yet agreed a fee, hence our larger bid yesterday.

It was also tweeted the same a week or so ago, that the player is happy with the move and if the clubs can agree then it will happen. This has been pretty consistent over the weeks this deal has rumbled on with that same thing appearing to be the hold up. Maybe we are being messed around but it appears to me if the club rather than the player trying to get a better deal.

Hope you are right but you seem to be swimming against the tide. I do appreciate that none of us really know what's being discussed between clubs and the player but I guess we've been here before and it rarely seems to end how we'd like. I'm still convinced he's above our level and will end up going to a better club.

Point is that the info that is coming out has always been consistent, player has agreed to move but clubs not agreed a fee, which is what was also said yesterday and perhaps why we made a new, larger bid. I dont think we'll get him but people seem to think the players fault when it appears to be the fee.

Yeah, no chance there is any option on this. City only signed him last month

Agree and we all know the player will likely eventually go to the club which offers him the most money so him having agreed to come here doesn't mean a lot at this stage.
