BotleySaint Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Given the evidence of all the transfer windows so far under SR. I think we have to be expect to be underwhelmed. At no stage have they shown an understanding or what is required. There is still time, but I imagine we'll sign some up and coming player we've never heard of with potential to replace Dibling. Then that'll be it. We will be told we have a big squad with too many strikers etc already. Which is true, but most of them are crap. 3

Osvaldorama Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago It really is unbelievable. Our squad is so bad and they consistently find ways to make us even worse 😂

James Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Whatever the position I think we can all agree a signing that the fans of the existing club think is laughably shit is never a great sign. Hugely underwhelmed by Spors so far. Looks like wasted the whole summer chasing Sperty. I predict we will overpay for Azaz and sign that winger from Still’s old club that’s currently at St Pauli. Will be a massively disappointing window if I’m right. Was hoping for much better but so far it’s been objectively crap again. 2

I actually think Alfie is pretty much aligned with what a lot of fans think in terms of transfers. You can tell he isn’t impressed on TSP, he just can’t say it out loud.

(I thought he was back with his French club).

He was loaned to St Pauli who triggered the buy clause in the loan, but then a few weeks later Lens triggered the buy back and got him back. A really weird chain of events. The Lens fans aren't happy he's back as he's not rated at all by them, nor was he rated by Still if he loaned him out I guess. This one might not happen though, probably one of those random 2+2=5 transfer rumours.

sockeye Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I don’t know too much about Azaz technically. But what I’ve heard is that he frequently goes missing in big games according to Boro fans. Tidy player, but is it good to have more players that roll over when it gets tough?

He's a good player, he's not the quickest but he's got a physical presence and he can hold his own. He's good at making runs into the box, primarily a 10 or he can play as an advanced CM at a push - but he'll be the '10', the link guy and the guy delivering goals from midfield. Wouldn't fix the problems out wide, which I assume we're still working on sorting. 1

SadButTrue Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago How about another Dane? Christian Eriksen is without a club and might no longer be a target for top teams. But he still needs playing time ahead of the World Cup – and wasn’t Ankersen’s moneyball idea all about surrounding young players with experienced ones? We can pay him whatever salary he wants and still save on transfer fees.

Farmer Saint Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I get that a lot of you want to be annoyed, but the Long transfer is not the one to get annoyed about. The lack of attacking mid and wingers are the ones. However, we may be announcing a new signing soon after Dibling is confirmed... 3

Essentially you are right, Long is a metaphor for how appalling these owners are, but I think we are too far gone between the fanbase and SR. People are expecting any signings to be more very poor squad filler and can you honestly blame them? I think the Pompey game will be the absolute final watershed. Handful of knock out signings for this level this week, Championship record for a transfer fee, and a heavy derby win is probably only thing that could save them. 2

His a midtable level GK, maybe he’s turned a corner, his pre season form was good and has been largely decent in our matches so far You can blame him for Stoke but on balance if was more the team and Stephens imo The real question will be, for all of us moaning about how we’re overpaying for mediocre players and have a bloated squad, did they really expect us to sign a 3rd ‘1st choice’ keeper?

That highlights the point that loaning in a first pick isn't as easy as it sounds. When we're not buying one, and can't loan one, then we loan in a 3rd pick which is exactly what we've done.
