Seems like we are just using our status and resources to help the group’s lesser clubs increase in value. Can’t believe some fans think this is a great thing .. it’s very unlikely to benefit us football wise and imo the key goal is just to increase the value of the other clubs to benefit the owners

Benefits of being part of the Sports Republic multi club model?

None thus far for Southampton FC.
the complete opposite it seems.

We've had three players out on loan to sister clubs this season. Gaining experience and value to benefit Saints. Plus allows us to get work permits for players that may struggle otherwise to get. Plus signed a very promising player from a sister club.

Did Juan need to go on loan to get a permit, MLG?  I can’t recall.

That's all been happening whilst we've endured the worst season we've ever had.

I'll reserve judgement if this is any good for us, at the moment it isn't and that's proven quite strongly by the two relegations and being one of the worst ever teams in Top Flight history.

At least Gotzepe did ok in the league though.

The point is to have a bigger pool of players who are able to generate value/profit.

If Juan turns into a player who can be sold for £5m its £5m extra on the books, which in the PSR world is massive. If Matsuki ends up playing for us next season its saved on paying a fee for someone. If neither happens we have barely lost a penny as they were cheap to acquire.

We see these days mid table sides buying young talents for £20m+ and loaning them out to develop. The idea is to find these players for less, sign them earlier and have somewhere to put them whilst their value increases or they meet WP criteria.

At this stage there has only really been one year of the model - since Goztepe got promoted.

Once Valenciennes make it back to Ligue 2 it will give another useful option - it all takes time to realise a benefit.

Nowadays its is so hard to make profits on academy players because the ones good enough to make a PL career tend to be poached before they make a debut (Gomes, Miles, Alleyne etc) and instead the poachers like City and Chelsea are the ones that profit.

This is our way of trying to compete. Whether it works or not who knows, but its too early to judge after basically one season of it in operation.

@S-Clarke its good Goztepe did well as means they stay playing at a decent level which clearly benefits the above. The fact we got relegated has zero to do with anything related to Goztepe.

It didn't cause our shit season. It is very little money and they've all increased in value.

With all the money we have been pissing down the drain signing the likes of bazunu squad players  overpaying for archer and downes and many more I find it hard to celebrate some poxy profit here .chances of these guys coming to us and tearing it up seem unlikely too .. happy to be proved wrong though

Well, it didn't help it did it?

They've been in charge of us since 2021. Since then, we've been relegated twice, signed loads of absolute bloody garbage, and endured the worst season ever seen.

What we have given to Gozepte hasn't helped us a single iota, increasing in value is a moot point when all we want ourselves are good players as our squad it's self is horrific. I get the frustration from fans when they see us aiding the squad depth and quality of other teams, yet having to watch us with BBD lumbering down the wing.

One of the benefits I potentially saw from the model is being able to get first dibs on the 'star' players from those clubs, and give them a platform. But we can't even do that, as we've been relegated so their best players won't even join us.

Southampton loaned us their worst player on paper, Göztepe benefited from nothing, Göztepe could have directly bought Juan for 800 thousand euros. The benefit you imagine is very utopian.

Try looking longer term than only the current season. All 4 of Traoré, Kayi Sanda, Juan and Matsuki have all gained experience and value. For relatively little outlay. Sure it didn't help us stay up this season, but nor is it the reason we went down. It may help us stay up next time to have players like them closer to readiness for the 1st team.

Or are you suggesting we never do anything for the medium or long term?

While the multi-club system poses absolutely no downside for you, the potential benefit is massive :) This transfer will happen if you pay 8 million euros. Alternatively, you would need to offer Jander as a replacement for Dennis.

You say no downside, yet here you are posting bollocks again. Proof that the multi club model has failed writ large.

Can you explain what harm you suffered from the multi-club system? Let me remind you that it was Göztepe that took a risk on Juan—who was valued at €800,000—and turned him into a €15 million player; don't talk as if I acquired a €15 million Juan from you for free.

What's the appropriate language for telling a fan from a multi-clubber, without causing offence, to fuck off?

I didn't write anything absurd. What kind of harm has the multi-club model caused you? With Southampton, the owner is losing money and spending out of his own pocket. Göztepe, on the other hand, is making a profit; they generate 30 million euros from player sales but spend only 3 million of that on new signings.

There are few benefits and it's a distraction that we don't need. We end up buying a load of random players that either never play for us or who were never good enough for us. I'd rather we weren't involved in it personally.

Because you're in a league system full of largely shit teams that mostly no one cares about.

In agreement with Blackmore re needing another proven option. Larin and a relatively untried youngster is a high risk if we’re seriously going for automatic promotion.

We have a couple of proven options already and people are keen to sell them because they aren't good enough.

it is a stone around our necks. We pay out and get little/nothing back

if it is not buying players to be 'loaned' to Turkey, it is paying incredible/record breaking fees for Lower league French players to help out the other team.

In the meantime, it impact our costs and we have been relegated twice in that period.

Who was that keeper we signed loaned him turkey and never came back

then there is that striker that they had that smashed it in Turkey and they sold To a German club

The French kid was a joke 10 times his value and the second biggest transfer ever from the French third tier 😂😂

Lis wasn't it (Keeper)...just seen he played 90+ times for them....after we signed him on a 5 year deal....

as for the striker....Yes, but he never used any of our facilities so it does not count (according to our Turkish friend)

Arguably pissing about signing players for other clubs took resources and manpower away from being 100% committed to trying to keep us in the prem. Like I said there's very little benefit for us.

I don't think there was any lack of resources or manpower attributable to the multiclub model. Our problems last time in the Prem stemmed from our DoF buggering off to Man Utd in April and not appointing a replacement for the subsequent transfer window. I can't remember any big money signings for Goztepe in 2024 which detracted from our own recruitment.

Think you’re reaching a bit there 😂 It’s a weird gripe people have with a club that is barely making an impression on us either way. (Through our own entire fault not living up to our side of the plan btw and nothing to do with them)

100% this. Our recruitment team (analysts and scouts) had to go from working for one club’s needs to multiple clubs and needing different profiles of players. It was chaotic for a while.

It's not weird at all. I just don't think there's much benefit to it and if we weren't involved I wouldn't be upset. Hardly weird to have an opinion.

The only clubs that have benefited are the French and Turkish mob. I will never forget MLG saying there were many benefits to saints of the multi club system But when asked numerous times what they were he never replied 😂😂

Saying there is little benefit isn’t weird. I agreed. The weird bit was someone asking a reasonable question and you responding declaring their league as full of shit and nobody cares. The gripe part..like I said.

Anyway Matsuki was a benefit and we should all be forever grateful for that.

We'd never have had a player named Izzet Furkan Malak had it not been for our link with Goztepe. He also got banned from football, so he could share his experience.

I don’t think it’s been a disaster. It’s cost the club/Dragan money for sure, whether that’s affected us and in other ways I don’t know.

There really have been very few obvious upsides though.

I'm in favour of a multi club model. However currently not being utilised properly from a Saints perspective.

Matsuki was used wisely and came back a better player. That Romulu player, may have come to Saints if we'd stayed in the premier league but currently it's not working at club level for 2 out of the 3 clubs.

Either go all in like City group or use the other two clubs better.

I suppose end of day, Dragan is extracting money one way from the group.

We could arrange a friendly with them, nice warm place for us to go, oh hold on, from memory, weren’t Liverpool fans being chased around the streets by big fat hairy, machete wielding crazy Turks and the men were just as bad.
