Not a huge fan but always worth watching their live shows, if only to see the gurning faces their bass player pulls I don’t really get it any more to be honest, it stopped being funny many moons ago. They’ve got a decent back catalogue now, they don’t need the gimmicks.
RedArmy Posted Saturday at 21:28 Posted Saturday at 21:28 Glastonbury trying to hide just how empty the pyramid field is for Neil Young by turning off every light facing the crowd.
AlexLaw76 Posted Saturday at 21:38 Author Posted Saturday at 21:38 I thought the Ezra Collective were excellent.

Got to be the most dreary and uninspiring Saturday headliner they've ever had. I get that he's very famous and still has a lot of dedicated fans, but this is utter shit.

AlexLaw76 Posted Saturday at 21:54 Author Posted Saturday at 21:54 (edited) This chick is not even singing. WTF! Now she is singing - can see why she has been miming for the most part Edited Saturday at 21:55 by AlexLaw76
CB Fry Posted Saturday at 21:58 Posted Saturday at 21:58 Charlie XCX not even trying to hide the fact she's just miming. Shouting "let's go Glastonbury" over the top of her own vocal track. Great booking. 1

It’s a bit tragic seeing the middle class handjobs sing along with “death to the IDF” etc from Bob Vylan- odds on the vast majority have never had so much as a punch up as adults. it may have replaced the similarly comfortable southern elite types singing along to Stormzy’s “woooahh Jeremy Corbyn” a few years back as the all time most gimpy Glastonbury moments As for Bob Vylan- very brave chanting about killing Israeli special forces on a stage in Somerset surrounded by other clichéd student politic rich kids- why not go over there and do something about it if they feel that strongly? Musically I’d agree that Ezra Collective have been sheer class for years and showed it again today 3
CB Fry Posted Saturday at 22:03 Posted Saturday at 22:03 (edited) Neil Young is singing and he still has that distinctive voice but never a Saturday headliner these days. Pulp were right there. Edited Saturday at 22:04 by CB Fry
Sheaf Saint Posted Saturday at 22:04 Posted Saturday at 22:04 I was hoping to catch a bit of Scissor Sisters but the feed from the Woodsies Stage failed. I know they're cheesier than a wotsit fondue, but I saw them at Homelands in Winchester in the mid 00s and they're a fun live act.
AlexLaw76 Posted Saturday at 22:14 Author Posted Saturday at 22:14 I thought 1975 were shite, but this is on a whole new level. There is little performance other than throwing arms around and saying "bitch" and "come on Glastonbury" in the middle of miming.

Always been of the opinion that a pyramid headliner should be a legendary act as that is what separates Glastonbury from your every weekend summer festival, and I was lucky enough to see the Stones the first year I went, but this is fucking dreadful. 2

Took my 8 year old to go see Iron Maiden last night in London - 50 years of Maiden. Would have been a good one for the legends slot... 1

Meanwhile on the Park Stage, Kae Tempest has clearly had reduction surgery and been taking testosterone supplements. So much so that my daughter assumed it was actually a bloke on stage. They've changed an awful lot since I first saw 'her' at Bestival in 2011 fronting a band called Sound of Rum. Still a great artist though. 1

All great gigs. Your son has a great taste in music!

I first saw him just after he joined The Faces early in 1970 at Leeds University and he went down poorly and had to apologise to the audience. In my view he was even worse today and thought the sort of performances you see at the Concorde Club or Cruise Ship are generally far superior. To be fair to Rod he looks great for an 80 year old. Back in the day I used to know Billy Gaff, his Agent at the time and there were quite riotous parties at his Office.

Proper performer too. Too many old folks at Glastonbury these days, almost every time you see a cutaway to the crowd its people in their mid forties or older. Not tonight. Actual young people singing along to a performer that is theirs. She is exactly the kind of act that should be headlining. Shaved armpits an added bonus. Edited Sunday at 22:11 by CB Fry 2 1

Agreed on ORod - she has a proper strong "fuck you" attitude as well - strong female role model in my eyes (my 12 year old is a big fan). Some of her songs aren't too bad either. 1

benjii Posted yesterday at 14:12 Posted yesterday at 14:12 On the subject of female popstars your young relatives might like, but you always assumed were crappy, but are actually really good, I have developed an appreciation of Miley Cyrus in recent years. She did Glasto in 2019. 1

Surely this is worse than people writing naughty things on facebook to a few hundred people when hes chanted it live on stage in front of thosands there and a TV audience of possibly millions.

Next we will be being arrested for chanting ‘you’re going to get your fucking head in’ A much underrated to the point chant from yesteryear and helpful to highlight common mis-use of ‘your’ when they mean ‘you’re’
