I think people get a little too obsessed with the whole hipster thing (do hipsters even still exist?). There are some god damn awful 'hipster' appointments - like we have done. There are some amazing ones who keep teams punching above their weight by relying extremely heavily on stats like xg - Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, possibly Fulham. Liverpool and Man City have invested heavily in stats over the last decade and they've done alright. I'm not a stats person really myself, but just get bored of the massive downplaying of it and writing it off as hipster. The issue we have is an incompetence one - we are using stats terribly and think we are smart. Some other clubs also use them bad, some use them good

West Brom were half decent for the first few games and have plummeted ever since.

Even Stoke, they were right up there, now their form has dropped off a cliff.

I think there will be a late surge by the likes of Watford and Birmingham in this second half of the season for the play offs.

Ipswich 100% winning the league. Coventry will falter.

Looks Saints like signed the wrong US young striker.

Saints signed the wrong striker out of all the strikers signed by teams last summer, not just from USA.

After 20 games, Saints had beaten WBA and were 4 points behind Ipswich. Ipswich kicked on and Saints went shit.

Watching Bompey... Van Dijk is having a mare.

How are they able to buy players for £40m when we are forever shopping in bargain basement when we were up there?

They don't have the benefit of Ankersen's statistics based no-watch scouting moneyball setup so they're forced to go watch players and spend cash on them. That's why they missed out on players like BBD and Archer.

They're run well whereas we always seem scared to pay anyone over £15 million for a player because we think we're being clever. And by "we", I mean the owners.

Sorry I meant to put "statistics" in air quotes. I in no way meant to imply that Ankersen's process represents any kind of rigorous mathematical approach.

Why go and watch a player when you already know they are good? Your eyes can deceive you.

To be fair the times we've spent more than £15m we've wound up with gems like Sulemana, Lemina and Onuachu. I can see why they'd be nervous.

I think only Danny Ings was the hit. And even he was a punt because of his injury history.

Just goes to show it's worth taking a punt on a striker with injury problems...... cough.... Stewart.

Last seconds of stoppage time. Fair play for Bournemouth for playing for the win and not sitting back.

Fair play to Bournemouth.  Genuinely pleased for them but fuck me, it doesn’t half reinforce the fact that the running of this club over the past 7 or 8 years has been a complete and utter disgrace. Like us they’ve continually had their best players picked off by other clubs but rather than drinking their own koolaid thinking they could be clever and sign replacements for a fraction of the price they’ve sold for, they’ve replaced quickly and effectively  and spent the type of money their sales have afforded them.  Depressing to see as a Saints fan considering how good we had things about 10 years ago.

Palace for the drop?

Wouldn't be surprised,  another woefully managed club selling best players and pissing off the manager so he is leaving at the end of the season  !

Let’s see where they are in 10 years time before you start wetting yourself over them. None of the clubs our supporters wwnk over, Brighton, Bournemouth or Brentford have achieved what we did. Did you really think it would go on forever, it couldn’t for us and it won’t for those 3 either.

Are you trying to say the data analytics is using the force and Rasmus is a Sith Lord?

I'm saying Rasmus is a child pretending that magic exists and that he's Ben Kenobi. Believe me, if the Force was real I'd have managed to choke someone with it by now 😉

Just saw Rangers are now third with the same players Martin had. But it’s nothing to do with managers, tactics or formations

I saw something showing Rangers form with Russell Martin vs their form with Rohl, it's quite incredible,  maybe Martin did all the hard work laying foundations that Rohl is now benefiting from

(Ps we should have appointed Rohl when he was available)

He laid nothing, it’s nothing to do with managers, tactics or formations. The players have just suddenly started playing better

See also: Norwich, Man Utd.

I know it's just Glasgow trolling but jesus, he could at least try not to make it so obvious.

I'm a bit sad that Martin didn't get to properly stamp his cultural identity on Rangers. He wasn't there long enough to properly establish the patterns of training, tactics or excuses that were his legacy at Southampton, Swansea or MK Dons. Hopefully Leicester have forgiven him for choosing Scotland over the Midlands and will bring him back to the Championship.

Leeds battering Everton, should be at least 2 up.

Our “effort” last season is looking more and more pathetic every week. Lego headed cock thinking we could out football sides….

He healed their scar tissue from previous managers too bad the fans were suffering from so much anxiety they couldn’t see what was going on, their eyes decieved them, as Rasmus might say
