Weirdly, I kind of hope he does. I know he's looked less than great so far, but I dont want him binned forever just yet. I still hold a glimmer of hope that he can be useful for us, at least until Stewart is back 'fit'. I'd love to see him have a decent game and get a goal for us, we need all the attacking help we can get!
My preference (like everyone's I hope) is that he can turn it around still and grow into the team/division.

I hope I get home and Sydney Sweeney is in my bedroom in a thong.
Similar probability between that and Downs making an impact this season I reckon

Suspect he would fit the team quite well

infact, we could have sign Kieffer Moore, Ollie McBurnie and Carlton Morris for less than it cost for Downs.

Fair play to Bree, a solid player for us now tearing it up under the Leekmaster General.

He's been brilliant for them. Must chuckle to himself when he looks at the league table

Loan only until Christmas I think

Hang on,  that wasn’t a “miss”, it was an horrendous push the likes of which we rarely see on a football pitch nowadays. Even Alan Shearer would have missed after that. No wonder he’s struggling mentally, he probably hasn’t got over that assault yet.

Just noticed.

Charles was loaned out and did great.

Bree was loaned out and is going great.

Damion Downs should therefore go out on loan...?

Worth a try if anyone in our division has an injury crisis and reckons they can get a tune out of him, why not?

Nearly a decade since the club improved a player (Livramento and Lavia just needed a stage, they were already miles better than the crap that they joined).

Came on tonight and once again had absolutely zero impact on the game. Didn't even get close to winning a ball that came near him.

He is genuinely worse than Ali Dia.

It's like he's watching the game on TV and there's a broadcast delay, and he's taken some strong analgesic cough medicine

No point piling on someone who was hastily brought on for a disjointed side with 10 minutes to absorb the criticism for a terrible manager and a terrible performance.

Best we/he can hope for is a new gaffer who either takes a shine to him and tries to get him 'firing' or bins him off.

We're not focusing on 10 mins though.

I've yet to see this guy control or pass a football. We're almost in November. I honestly cannot tell you if he can play football at this stage, I have no idea.

My instinct says no.

I know, he's been shite and quite possibly is shite. But if you locked me in a room with our squad after tonight there'd be a few others who would be getting a tap on the shoulder before Damion.

I've seen some seriously inept players representing this club over 60 years of so, he's probably easily in the top five. Awful player.

Oh yeah I wouldn't just pin tonight on him, not at all. Least of our problems tonight.

Fraser horrendous, THB an absolute mess, Manning was pathetic when he came on, and Charles does not control the game.

Let’s be honest the entire team was shit after that third goal. They were all terrible.

If you’re going to start commenting on Downs performance tonight then let’s bump the threads of the other ten players on the pitch and have the same debate.

Unfortunately for us Spors failed to spot that huge flaw in his performance level. How he missed it is one of life's mysteries.

Let’s not forget he was Spors main man, the number one striker target for this season, he said as much when Downs signed. He didn’t want anyone else, just this guy. Straggering incompetence, and enough is enough for me now with the whole sport republic circus. Surely time to start making Matchdays uncomfortable for them and get a message across that we refuse to be continually fucked in the arse by these utter cunts.

Yes, for sure. But what were you expecting when you clicked on a thread titled Damion Downs? A critique of everyone except him?

Cant believe there are people defending him. Unbelievably low standards from you

I’ve not defended him, he’s been poor since he signed. But if you’re going to question his 25 minute cameo tonight where the entire team gave up I think you have to look at the players you favour (aka the other ten on the pitch).

It’s fine to think someone is poor but you just have a vendetta against him, and actually in the grand scheme of things he was no worse than the players who played the majority of last nights game.

To summarise, he was better than THB, he was better than Wood, he was better than McCarthy, he was better than Jander who all made big errors and had poor games last night. Are you going to hold them to the same account?

Our sub have been rubbish,  players should have at least 45 min and only 3 subs. If the team are that bad you have to do 5 subs a match we are in wrong half of pyramid. I think he only touched the ball 3 times, or was I totally bored and fell a sleep.

Hes the worst player I’ve ever seen for us.

He looks like he’s never played football before. He was not better than any of those players. He touched it twice and gave it away badly both times, same is in all of his prior appearances.

Also, yes all those other players are shite too except Jander. But at least they look like they’ve played football before.

There are levels to the game and downs signing is completely unacceptable. People should be fired - he’s really that bad.

When you say "didn't get close to winning the ball" I was standing to the left of the goal, a few rows back, and I made a comment to the person I was with that he was actively avoiding putting himself In a position to contest the ball.

It does look like that, but I just think he times it all wrong. He plays like he's half asleep, he's two or 3 seconds behind everyone.

I think he'll be shifted in January. He hasn't settled, he doesn't look comfortable here and our players don't seem to be particularly onboard with him either.

£6m on this guy, with no other Centre Forward, is on par with the Carillo signing in terms of the damage it has done to our team. And we know for a fact that this signing is the 'statement' signing of our new recruitment setup in terms of their direct pick and recommendations, this is such a huge red flag.

It probably isn’t, no.  But you can understand the frustration based not only on the fact that he is a very poor player, but compounded by the fact that he appears to be lacking any effort or desire to impact any game he plays in. This will get you booed eventually (particularly the lack of effort) by any fanbase, like it or not.

This is the key bit for me. Even for these charlatans, it beggars belief that they were so naive they thought that this signing, and this signing alone, would suffice. I think they genuinely thought Stewart would be fit all season and bang in the goals left right and centre, which again was incredibly naive/ complacent, based on his injury record to date at the club. But then their whole tenure in Charge of saints has been completely riddled with arrogance and complacency of the highest order, which has manifested itself into complete incompetence and gross mis management of a football club.
