So I spoke to one of my friends, who was a senior VP at a large retail company. He joined in April, and has unfortunately lost his job 2 weeks ago as part of a huge re-structure. His home that was part of his package has been taken away, because as you can probably imagine labour rights are non-existent out there. Apparently there are massive issues out there currently as the number of ex-pats outweigh the number of jobs, and people are moving without properly understanding the cost of living and all the additional costs with regards accomodation. Heat in the Summer is unbearable, and where his wife and newborn are over there on maternity she was pretty much housebound for 4 months last year.

With regards how Dubai is right now, he said it's just really odd. Nobody knows what to really do so they're staying inside for the time-being. Loads of noise constantly overhead, but nothing too bad as of yet.

He's coming back as soon as he can, unsurprisingly.

Hope he kept his place in the UK

More a case of me being too quick, something Mrs Sums often complains about!

Been reading Andrew Lownie’s Entitled book about Andrew and Fergie (Sarah, not Sir Alex) which is currently 99p on Kindle. Apparently when Fergie first started sleeping with Andrew, Koo Stark taught him to count to ten (which it’s claimed he did out loud) before he fired off the royal caviar from his cannon.

Petrol stations are already getting ‘fun’. Get ready for the photos of people with jerrycans in the Daily Mail.

In a few weeks there will be shortages of various things in the UK, and prices will rise.

Get your bog rolls in now.

‘Royal caviar’ 😆 brilliant!! Did you make that one up, I’ve never heard it before?

That is very sad indeed Sheaf. Hope it settles down soon

My brother reports that it has been much quieter today. Over the weekend they could hear the drones flying overhead but there's been none today.

Still no confirmation of what's happening with the funeral though 😥

From the BBC;

"Conservative US commentator Tucker Carlson has urged the US to "get [Benjamin Netanyahu] under control".

"Sorry, it's not antisemitism. This is a head of state whose decisions are getting Americans killed and affecting the history of the world and the fortunes, but also the future of the United States," Carlson said in his latest podcast on Tucker Carlson Network.

The former Fox News host added: "The United States has to say to the government of Israel, 'You are not in charge.' ...No administration has paid a higher price for going along than the current administration."

Carlson, a Trump ally, had lobbied against military action and even met with Trump at the White House several times to dissuade him from an attack, according to the New York Times."

There was a great quote recently from a Congresswoman. She said that Netanyahu has been trying for years to persuade American presidents to attack Iran. He has now found one dumb enough to actually do it.

I genuinely do feel sorry for those getting connecting flights through Dubai and Doha, having their travel plans ruined. I was nearly in the same boat last year.

Edit. Good friend of mine was coming to see me next Sunday, but his flight was cancelled. Shit happens.

In fact you repeatedly abusing people without making your own independent points makes you look rather limited.

A colleague of mine, originally from Beirut lives in Dubai. He says it's fine there and they feel pretty safe, he's faced far worse at home.

Trump is a grade A cunt. Why should the UK get dragged into an unnecessary escalation when the US forces have overwhelming fire power anyway. 2 of their carrier strike groups have as many front line attack aircraft as the entire RAF.

"Starmer is no Churchill", and you are in no way, shape, or form, a statesman.

Just remember how reluctant the US was to join the fight against Hitler.

I wish Starmer would come back with a similar insult about draft dodging. Sickening how any utterance by this bully is magnified as major news.

As well as WW2 there was the US reluctance to join in WW1, or support us in the Falklands.

Is it because Iran bombed our sovereign territory in Akrotiri, so we should be defending our land?  Would we sit back and do nothing if they bombed London?

But we ARE defending, the RAF are intercepting missiles and drones off Cyprus and in the Gulf, we just said that our bases could not be used for US bombing missions.

EDIT; the RN are now committing surface ships to Cyprus.

Doubled crossed Starmer politically on the Chagos Islands in the first place so I don’t know what the Orange Toddler is grizzling about now. Trump doesn’t care about international law but a previous Labour PM had issues on Iraq so the caution is understandable.

Even so, Bush would have backed the UK up if our interests or territory were attacked. That’s far from certain, probably unlikely, for any NATO member under the fascist jackboot of Trump and Vance. If those two hadn’t been such cunts towards long-term allies in NATO, he could’ve used the Chagos bases.

We should withdraw all military support and say it is because we won’t have our PM insulted

Funny also how Farage is quiet about how his idol is behaving, yet again.

Able to copy his tactics about denying the by-election result though. Yes, evidence of family voting but they were nowhere near beating the Greens and it impacted Labour far more than his party almost certainly.

A wanker cut from the same cloth as Trump.

Because Spain also refused to allow offensive US operations from it's territory, Trump says he has instructed Trade Secretary Scott Bessent to stop all trade with Spain.
