Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Should be 3 or 4-0 but is wasteful. Scienza is getting a free pass down the left. Welington is streets ahead of Manning defensively and links well with Scienza. Stewart so far has made a difference without putting too much pressure on goal. Think the Ref bottled the pen call - it was pretty obvious - and generally Utd are getting away with some niggly challenges but the Ref/Lino's are blind to it. The commentator said the Utd forwards were isolated and that's because we had a midfield to stop much of their forward passing - the back 4 was not hindered to achieve this...are you reading this SR? PLEASE - be brave Tonda - stick to the plan...it's working FFS!
Holmes_and_Watson Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Posted Wednesday at 20:45 Finally a team that allows us plenty of time to, not only play endlessly around the back, but gives us the midfield when we remember it's there. 27% was played in our final third. That's more than in theirs, but consists nearly all of our very patient passing. We look very comfortable. Scienza has had space to cut in, leading to the deflected goal. We finally have a wide player on the park with a tall player. Stewart is rusty, and hasn't always linked up perfectly. But what a difference to have some sort of outlet. Only one in it, so we can't be complacent. They have some strength on the bench. 1
Suhari Posted Wednesday at 20:47 Posted Wednesday at 20:47 Right then. I'm entirely confident we can push on and have a strong second half. Um.....
scumbag Posted Wednesday at 20:47 Posted Wednesday at 20:47 For once just keep it tight for the first 15 after the break, and then kill it off with another around 60 to 70. Nice and boring.
lambtiss Posted Wednesday at 20:49 Posted Wednesday at 20:49 The 2nd half is the big test for Eckhart. Will we go into our shell?
Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 20:49 Posted Wednesday at 20:49 Stewart gets blatted from behind. Ref - nothing.
skintsaint Posted Wednesday at 20:50 Posted Wednesday at 20:50 Chris Wilder has never beaten Southampton, he's never, in fact, got a point. He's lost all five previous encounters with the Saints, only against Liverpool has he coached more games without picking up a point (six).

Chez Posted Wednesday at 20:51 Posted Wednesday at 20:51 O'hare getting behind both cm's. great chance. not good from our midfield.
obelisk Posted Wednesday at 20:52 Posted Wednesday at 20:52 If only Saints could be more clinical in attacking areas.

Chez Posted Wednesday at 20:54 Posted Wednesday at 20:54 great pass from Azaz, but Fellows can't bring it down and maintain momentum

Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 20:57 Posted Wednesday at 20:57 Leo gets a yellow - we know what that means.

Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 20:58 Posted Wednesday at 20:58 Nice hands from Peretz - no crisp packets.
obelisk Posted Wednesday at 20:59 Posted Wednesday at 20:59 Saints under the cosh. Corner to Sheffield. So far normal 2nd half form has been resumed. 2
Andy Hill Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Looking like a typical 2nd half performance so far !? 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Bamford coming on. Corner for Utd who are starting to turn up the heat. We're going back into a shell - need a goal.
sandwichsaint Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Let's hope Tonda's got something up his sleeve here. 1
Saint_clark Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Posted Wednesday at 21:00 Downes needs to come off, he's not even trying anymore.

Sheaf Saint Posted Wednesday at 21:01 Posted Wednesday at 21:01 (edited) Bamford coming on. Equaliser incoming. Edited Wednesday at 21:02 by Sheaf Saint 1
obelisk Posted Wednesday at 21:01 Posted Wednesday at 21:01 Hoever fails to pick up yellow yet again.

Saint Fan CaM Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Posted Wednesday at 21:02 AA on and Stewart off. Here we go - submission.
Saint_clark Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Stewart off for Armstrong. Makes sense, i'd rather have Stewart all game but he isn't fit enough for it.
stknowle Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Ross going off probably sensible from the injury prevention angle but it worries me.
