I know there were other crap results like Blackburn and Oxford away but like in 2011 two draws v the Skates cost us the title, the two draws v them this time could cost us automatic.

The defeat to Reading at St. Mary's cost us the title imo. It was still in our hands after the 2-2 draw with Skates.

Think we’ll be play-offs.  Thanks a lot Will Still, you useless ginger clown.

If I'm right he was instrumental in us signing Leo so he did something good for the club.

To even be in the conversation at this point just doesn't really compute, given where we were in November to be sat here with 4 games remaining and 3 points off 2nd is just twilight zone stuff.

I think the equation to get there is quite clear - we need to win every single remaining game. That hasn't changed for me. If we can finish on 84 points with 10 wins in a row then we'll be in with a shout for sure. It may still not be enough, but we've got to give ourselves the chance.

In terms of the playoffs, that's done - amazingly. We're there bar the shouting.

I'm almost certain none of our rivals will beat this total if we can get there. For instance Ipswich are currently on 75 points from 41 games so would need to win at least 3 of their other 4 games (not 5 because they'll obviously lose to us if we get the maximum 84 points). I would be amazed if Millwall or Boro make it to 84 points and, in reality, they'd likely need 85 because of our superior goal difference. So both would have to win all 4 of their remaining games and current form indicates that is highly unlikely (even then Boro would only be on 84 points - Millwall can get 85 max). Win our last 4 (current form indicates that is highly possible though admittedly a big ask) and I'm convinced we'll take 2nd spot.

Which team is going to stop us winning our last 4 games? We can do it!

Preston.

That's a brave shout. If we win the other 3 I can't see us slipping up in the final game at Preston in what will be a game to secure automatic promotion.

I’ve supported Saints since 1960; how long have you been supporting Saints?

No need to answer; I’m sure you get my drift.

Bristol City is the one that’s always concerned me. It feels like we have a terrible record against them.

Although beat them at St Mary’s last time in the Championship they have been a bit of a bogey team.

They seem wejuvinated under Woy as well.

Boro registered 81 shots in their last 3 games and scored just 3 goals. That is unreal. Lets hope they turn up vs Ipswich.

Bristol City with Woy at the helm is going to be hard, probably a draw. Also surprised so many assume we are beating Ipswich. We are on a great run but apart from us they have the best squad on paper. Good timing with their manager being linked to other roles though.

The run Saints are on is ridiculous. I'm starting to forget what losing or drawing feels like ... madness. No wonder the other teams are feeling the pressure.

It's great to contemplate the autos, but I'm convinced that one of these teams will find a way to frustrate Saints. Probably Roy, he's a wily old fox.

Nevertheless if the run continues next week, with Millwall and Ipswich dropping even a point, then shit will get very real very quickly.

Those last two games will be epic with thoughts turning to GD. Fortunately Saints have scored more than Ipswich, so should GD be level Saints will go through. However still need to make up the 6 goal difference.

That isn't an issue with Millwall, but hard to see where they will drop points.

What a brilliant league

I agree with much of this. The only thing that I have to add is that we are at that stage of the season when we have to expect  the unexpected. How else can we explain Pompey beating Ipswich or Boro's recent slide?

We can win our last 4 games. I expect us to win them. But if say Woy does find a way to nick a point lets not give up hope of second place. Very little goes as expected at this stage of the season.

Do we want Ipswich to draw or boro win?

Boro win (on the proviso they don't win the rest of their games too :) )

I think we have to want a Boro win, as we have to be confident of getting above them regardless, and it’s Ipswich who we need to gain the most points on so need them to drop the maximum points in this game

Millwall have won just one game in five - a narrow 2-1 to Boro who are currently hopeless. In that run they lost at home to both Blackburn and Norwich yet suddenly they are going to win 4 crucial games in a row. That's not happening.

Any Ipswich fans reading - your board is shit and full of hundreds of new threads on the same topic with no replies, with the occasional one almost worth reading. Also I hope you stay in the Championship after that Nigel Farage bollocks and that pathetic penalty given your way at Carrow Road

I believe Boro haven’t won at home since January

My prediction is:

Millwall 2-1 QPR
Swansea 0-1 Southampton
Ipswich 2-2 Middlesbrough

Southampton 1-0 Bristol City
Stoke 1-2 Millwall
Charlton 1-2 Ipswich
Middlesbrough 1-1 Sheffield United

Leicester 2-1 Millwall
Middlesbrough 1-1 Watford
West Brom 1-1 Ipswich

Southampton 2-1 Ipswich

Ipswich 2-0 QPR
Millwall 2-1 Oxford
Preston 1-2 Southampton
Wrexham 2-0 Middlesbrough

Not sure how that would leave the final table points-wise

Didn’t they end our unbeaten run under Martin ?

Personally I want to see us going up through the playoffs. Or is that too big a dice to roll?

But that does mean that the team tgat goes up that way has less time to prepare for the next season.

We had 6 months to prepare for this season, and screwed it up (initially)...

That was under Martin. Tonda is a far superior coach to Russboy the one-trick-pony.

I'd love to see what odds you could get on all that as an accumulator.
