Slightly worried it means Scienza is off.

Hope you've missed out the word 'if' Hypo.

Been watching some of the Preston goals from last season. He’s that great option to play off Larin. Got great speed plus is an assist machine.

10 goals, 8 assists.

That's how I see it. If anything, he's a replacement for Archer - though I hope he doesn't turn out to be an Archer Mark 2.

Probably reckoning he can get a decent payday without Russ hanging around for long.

Dobbin played as a second striker the entire season for Preston, while the season before, West Brom played him out wide.

The 9-0 is starting to feel like some sick black magic with karmic consequences. Just like how Germany are destined to never win a knockout round, Leicester are forced to continue buying former Saints.

I think he offers something very different to Scienza and Azaz.

If we're honest, Scienza faded towards the end of the season probably due to the fact he was knackered and sides had worked out just to stick 2 men on him. Azaz we've seen can go missing and blows hot and cold.

This entirely regarding Leo Scienza.

He is a decent player but my god he’s overrated by so many.

He faded massively at times last season, if you want to get out the Championship you need consistency and sometimes someone who brings something different.

Rentaghost.

---------------

Now there's something I have given no thought to for over 40 years, but now I'm strangely intrigued to find footage of. I thought that zaniness might well have been some psychedelic mushroom trip of my teenage years, but it turns out it was just a tv show from a time before that. Side note, that horse had some moves!

A reet load of shite it was.

Could this be the new Ross replacement?

Have not seen any transfer rumors about Ross new destination.

Is he definitely not playing for Saints again? Does he want to be at SFC? Would we offer a new contract?

I loved the LND. But talk about physical presence is nonsense, that is the one thing he didn't really bring despite his height. While Larin has masses of physical presence

Dobbin, hope he's not the donkey of some book of my infancy.

Leicester love an ex-Saints player, Ings gone there too.

Smallbone linked but also linked to Millwall where he was on loan before a serious hamstring injury and WBA so you think he’d go to one of those unless there’s some serious beard-whispering.

You would think £9m is being dropped on THE position Solak talked about with Alfie/Blackmore.

Ure making an interesting link there. Let’s see if the interest is Sirius or not.

Agreed. Archer off it would seem then as rumoured.

You’d think so regardless of this signing.

I mean the only thing Archer taught us is you need to go deep into the squad at times.

Archer will be off to Preston.

He's the kind of player other managers/scouts will have seen and liked and his struggles here will be put to one side. The issue is how much we would want for him. Most Championship sides have no money for transfer fees.

After Devine, where have Preston got the cash from?  Would be surprised if they can afford his wages.

Peter Ridsdale is in talks to sell to Amr Zedan on behalf of the Hemmings family, I think - but don't think anything is officially agreed or going through just yet

I'm thinking 4 million at least.

Whats the status of Charles ? I guess hes almost out the door if we are buying someone as we dont have that much cash flow around.

Has charles been clocked on any of the pre season media ?

Charles is still on holiday, his break started later than most as N. Ireland played several late WC warm up friendlies

Don't get the McCarthy to Leicester thing. I think he's a decent shot stopper but a Russball me to you to me-er in the penalty area he ain't.

Yeah I agree. I can only assume he’s going there to be back up keeper

Bild reporting that Saints are interested in Justin Njinmah, 25 year old forward from Werder Bremen

Cool. May mean that Dobbin isn't the Stewart replacement.

Cheers.  I suppose if they were after Dobbin themselves, they’ve obviously still got a bit of cash in the bank.

Yeah, although Justin Njinma doesn't sound much like an out and out striker either and more of a wide player.  Does appear to be very fast though.  Apparently Hull also very interested.  Wouldn't surprise me if we were looking at both Dobbin and Justin Njinma but had the intention of only signing one of them.

Pretty certain he isn't.  They all proved last year we can't play without a target man, so pretty sure Dobbin is more of a squad player to play in any of the other front 3 positions apart from CF.

Makes sense. Begavic is out of contract this summer and 39. I am guessing he isn't returning? He was second choice, picked ahead of Fran Vieites, who they perhaps don't rate terribly highly.

How much would we need to get for Archer for it not to be a loss under amortisation?

£15m signing, four year contract, two years in, so £7.5m.

Does the new financial method still need teams to avoid loss under amortisation? Selling him now for say £4m makes a lot more sense from a cash flow basis than loaning him out for two years (if there was next to no loan fee) and getting zero back when he walks on a free (but no loss under amortisation).

I'll believe that we are signing a 9 million pound squad player in the championship when I see it.

Jacob Devaney...

Looked pretty poor in this video, but the comments suggest he had better games.

If that were true then Jander is definitely off.

Charles will need replacing wont he?

Are you sure you dont mean Justin Devanny from Crystal Palace (who we were linked with last week)? If not, that feels like a bit of a come down from a semi-regular at Palace to some kids who's played 13 games for St Mirren.

Better here. Nothing terribly exciting. Neat and tidy. Not bad for a 19 year old. He looks like he lacks a little power in his pass, but maybe the grass just needs a cut.

Overrated ny Rs! He is the only Saints player in recent history that gets people ontheir feet every time he touches the ball. He is genuine game changer and long may he reign here.

Yeah, hard to tell with defensive midfielders on these types of videos.  Looks like the championship might be a challenge physically for him and Bragg looks a better player but then we've all seen a lot more of him so probably not entirely fair to compare them.

WBA is the rumour I heard. Devine was PNE’s statement signing by their own admission, can’t see them stumping up another £5m+ for Archer. And Cameron’s originally from Brum. Baggies aren’t that keen on Villa but they loathe Wolves and if he scores against them his Villa background will soon be overlooked.

And that goal celebration against Pompey at Fratton Park - absolute star.

Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold reporting that Saints are one of the three clubs mentioned here. Other two clubs who have recently made approaches are Sporting and Wolves. Has been a mixture of permanent transfers (around eight figures) and loans with obligation to buy on certain conditions
