Disco Stu Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Mubama replacing Stewart is a massive downgrade and the reason we've had to overplay Larin which has had predictable results. 5
Saint NL Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago After two minutes I saw him chase a ball down, burst forward and lay off a simple pass. I thought he looked sharp, but after that he did nothing. Complete waste of a shirt. Surely an academy player is a better option right now 6
AlexLaw76 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago as mentioned in the match thread...he did fuck all, offered zero threat and barely, if at all, kept the ball up top. There was on time where he played a quick pass forward to Downes in the attacking 3rd, Downes stretched, missed it a fell.....As WBA broke into our half (and running right past Mubama), he just strolled around and did not chase back and cover for Downes (who got up, ran back and gobbed off to Divin)... Absolutely woeful performance, and he will never make it (at this club) with this level of effort. 2
Sheaf Saint Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and accept there might have been some personal stuff going on with him that meant he wasn't getting any game time, because we had seen glimpses earlier in the season that he might have something about him. There was one moment in the first half tonight where he showed good strength and skill to win the ball out on the right and play a neat backheel to keep possession and get us moving forward again. But aside from that he did nothing else of any note. I can only assume we missed out on other targets to replace Stewart and this lad was a last minute panic loan to make up the numbers. He's been very poor. Not quite Damion Downs level of bad, but not far off. 1
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) things he did well:- Made short passes from deep, then made central runs for balls to be put over the top for him. We didn't play them. Mainly as we're used to Larin being more of a target, or now Dobbin creating space to receive a pass and bring others in. He was in the perfect striker's position, waiting for a tap in for a pass that should have gone to him. Edited 22 hours ago by Holmes_and_Watson 2

RedArmy Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Comes across as a player that thinks he’s too good for the championship and thinks he can do well with minimal effort. I lost count of the amount of times Downes was angry with him tonight. 1
Osvaldorama Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Horrific player. Is he better than Damien Downes? Maybe. But that’s about the only nice thing I have to say about him. Urgently need to send him back and get a back up striker. 2
Mboto Gorge Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago (edited) He’s better than Downs by virtue of Downs being so far off the pace in every appearance for us that he barely even touched the ball in his entire saints career. One shanked miss when clean through at Hull, the scuffed open goal miss off his studs before Stephens scored the winner against Wrexham are literally the only times I can remember him touching the ball for us. So yeah, Mubama has been better than that, but for gods sake can we stop recruiting these Man City youngsters, as this one clearly thinks that he doesn’t need to put a shift in possibly due to the entitlement he’s felt at being at city, who knows. Either way, he’s not what we need during a long and arduous promotion campaign in a physically demanding league where the games come at you thick and fast and you need to be giving your all. Another ridiculous piece of recruitment from SR. Wouldn’t have taken much to find someone better than this clown surely. Edited 22 hours ago by Mboto Gorge 3
HKsaint Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago From all event players from City, Mubama, THB, Shea, Edozie, Larios, Baz and Lavia, do we gain or loss?
chownie20 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago To be fair there were a couple of instances last night where a different (possibly go as far as to say better) decision from a team mate would have given him a tap in. So he does get in decent areas around the box. But a long way from being a complete striker ready to lead the line in the championship. Dobbin looks encouraging tho. So we probably need to splash out in Jan with one eye on someone who can move up to the EPL with us!

Think his performance last night would be viewed differently if had decent service but he didn’t get it. Fair enough we could argue we need somebody to create their own opportunities but Mubama just doesn’t really seem that type. Think he needs good service now he’s stepped up to the man’s game and suspect City sent him here expecting us to provide him that and it hasn’t happened. Calling him woeful seems silly to me. Maybe he just doesn’t suit us / his role here right now. As for a new guy in January, it’ll be a tough find, depending on how much we’re willing to spend. There’s a few in the Championship now who could suit but suspect Norwich, WBA and Blackburn would all fancy big money. There is also the massive elephant in the room that you can’t guarantee this new guy loads of playing time. Even with Larin out Mubama has only just got his first start because Dobbin covers the role too. Edited 7 hours ago by Fabrice29 1

I was very pleased when we signed hi on loan, and admit im disappointed so far, but to call him a clown in a game where the team hardly shone for 45 minutes is harsh. Our midfield just didnt hold the ball long enough to slide a pass through for him 4
Patrick Bateman Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Thought I had. Mubama plays for England U21s, generally as a starter, yes? But Lankshear has barely featured? I don't want to write Mubama off, but I'm still feeling 'meh' about everything I've seen, but someone must like him!

He's clearly talented and not a bad signing as an option to Cyle Larin, it just doesn't seem to be happening for him yet. I think people need to accept that we're not really going to get a better player to sit on the bench in the Championship. Still agree with this tripe?

Positives: Harwood-Bellis, Lavia, Charles Negatives: Bazunu for the obvious reasons. Larios is permanently injured. Mubama, it’s not looking good. Edozie, a bit of flair is all when and good but he has done nothing with it in four years.

I stand by what I said about finding someone better. We didn’t need a world beater, just someone who will actually impact the game a little bit and take some of the weight off larins shoulders. This guy is nowhere near doing that so far, so much so that the manager has preferred to play dobbin and even Azaz ahead of him at certain points this season. We just needed a fit strong target man, who would battle and keep defenders occupied , didn’t need to have amazing ability. This bloke doesn’t fit the profile at all.

There are plenty of strikers out there who could do a better job than Mubama - even someone at the end of his career who's shown he can lead the line and bang in a few goals. Mubama offers us next to nothing. 2
