Re Dyer and theo

I recall a couple of seasons ago that there was a discussion re dyer having more potential than walcott. The general consensus was that he did have the potential to be a better player than walcott. Shame he blotted his copy book with his daytrip to southsea

Perhaps this potential is now comming to fruition

Good news for us if he is comming back however it sounds like holmes has anothe long term injury. We will be able to pay dyers wages as the club can claim holmes from the insurance pay out

Agreed, three years ago Dyer was potentially going to be a better player than Theo, many pundits thought. Difference is that Theo is an intelligent lad, put his mind to it, worked hard, and got to where he wanted to be. Whereas Dyer went clubbing in Southsea. What do you expect from Trowbridge :)

I must have missed that discussion, otherwise I would have argued vehemently against that viewpoint.

I saw Dyer and Walcott many times over at Staplewood a few years back and there was no comparison whatsoever, despite Dyer being in the year group above Walcott.

Because of some good contacts I was able to speak to a few coaches (definitely Prost & Wigleyand I think it was Jennings) and there was no question that Theo was the one tipped for the top, whereas there was always debate as to whether Dyer would be able to make the step up.

Hopefully, he will come back and perform for us, but being honest I have never really rated him.

If this is true then we have potentially seen the back of this youth experiment. I hope so. Now Wotte needs to use Molecule's suspension to keep Rudi here.

Get on your knees Wotte and beg him to stay.

Finally, if we can get Rasiak back to partner Sagga instead of McGoaldraught... we're in with a very slight chance.

Agree, the experienced players stood out a mile yesterday IMO.

A few grand on wages now could save the club millions come May.

The mind boggles at how much better we could have done this season with all these players in from the start. I dont know how much money they have saved on wages but im pretty sure the extra 5000+ fans we would have had week in week out would have offset the cost. False economy in its purest form.

To be fair he doesn't say he's going to recall him, just not sell him to Swansea and start again next season.

We probably can't recall him now.

I'm not sure about this recalling business. Surely if players are on loan they are exactly that - on loan.

Anyway, here's another reason why its really important to get Rasiak back to partner Sagga... RIGHT NOW:

17 Nottm Forest 30 4 5 6 14 17 4 4 7 18 24 -9 33

18 Derby 29 6 4 5 19 16 2 4 8 11 25 -11 32

19 Barnsley 30 6 3 6 19 15 3 2 10 10 26 -12 32

20 Norwich 30 6 4 5 27 20 2 3 10 12 26 -7 31

21 Doncaster 29 4 5 5 7 10 4 2 9 14 23 -12 31

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

22 Watford 30 7 3 5 28 24 1 3 11 14 29 -11 30

23 Southampton 30 1 7 7 12 20 5 3 7 16 26 -18 28

24 Charlton 30 4 4 7 20 27 1 3 11 11 26 -22 22

Enough said? Helping our rivals is suicide.

Must be a way we can pay it back in the contract. If we seriously let them go on loan without an option to recall them ... what does that tell you about the management of this club?

Usually you cannot recall players on season-long loans. Even when it is possible it can only be done during the transfer window.

When him and Theo 1st came to us that was the general feeling. Obviously there have been many kids that were supposed to have potential but never got anywhere (Jay Lucas anyone?) but I seem to remember them being fairly confident that Dyer was going to be better though and IMO thats why he was offered another contract after is southsea trip. If we can get 1 or 2 seasons out of him showing that supposed potential then he will be the asset to keep the Admins away. 1st season he has been out on loan all over the place so best hope he performs for the remaner for us as ive got a feeling we will need the cash at the end of the season.

You have to be slightly retarded/mental to allow a player out on loan without a recall option, so I imagine it's highly unlikely we have the option to recall him.

depends on fee and terms etc which we don't know. team sometimes pay for the privilege of being guaranteed the player for the rest of season

We so badly needed Dyer yesterday. Swansea used their wings effectively, particularly when Molyneaux commited suicide.

We so lacked penetration down the width. Players were bunched togethr so often in an ineffective soft centre, getting in each other's way. We need greater width and pace. Dyer does this better than anyone else we have. And it will get worse without Skacel.

I have been told that we dont have a recall option on Dyer. This was confirmed by RM after the Pompey game who stated that he was staying at the Swans for the rest of the year. I have also heard that Swansea have bid £500,000 for Dyer, which is significantly less than the £1.2 mill agreed with Saints and Sheffield United before they pulled out of the deal (he played significantly less than SU had thought he would).

or its cat and mouse games to get Swansea to give a better offer.

A rupert tactic perhaps...

Seriously how can we suddenly afford these players like Saga and Dyer , i thought we had no money...

maybe we have been "wrongly informed" up to now

Jesus, only you would have come out with that.
Considering that Swansea have expressed an interest annd no doubt have used the much publicised lack of funds at SMS as a lever,Saints by threatening to call him back sends a message that we may call their bluff.

GB said a couple of AGM's ago that the club does not pay for insurance cover for players injuries. Too expensive then so we're hardly likely to have it now.

If so, it is further proof that Lowe is a clueless liability.

League rules prohibit recall clauses in standard loans for half a season, so no recall for ND this season. We could recall Rasiak from Watford, but only if it is done by end tomorrow. Wotte says he intends to use Dyer NEXT season, clearly he knows he cannot have him back this season.

Loan rules from the Football League:

48 Standard and Emergency Loans

48.1 Standard Loans. Subject to the provisions of Regulation 47.3, Standard Loan transfers shall only be approved in accordance with following provisions:-

48.1.1 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Registration Periods, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season.

Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Registration Period

If you want the full rules look here on the Brentford site where someone found the FL rules a while back:

So, when is it possible to insert recall clauses? We have before.

Can't have been much of a discussion. I think someone at te club have realsised that Holmes is very injury prone as mentioned by several on here when he signed.

Thats a little unfair, the tackle he had when he got the knee injury at QPR was eye watering. He has been a major loss to us, as he was doing well until the QPR game

Hard luck Swansea, Mark Wotte to recall Nathan Dyer :D

..putting aside his summer antics, Dyer does have some potential and has more experience than some of the Academy lads we've had to use this season....PLUS why are we talking about signing ANOTHER striker when we have TWO experienced strikers out on loan already.

There's no guarantee a " stranger " coming in on loan or otherwise, would do any better. I'd take Rasiak back NOW, as he's not getting better sitting on Watfords bench and then coming on occasionally to score against a slowly-tiring defence

...he can do that here...and earn us some points instead.

Again a season long loan - so I don' think we can't recall him.

Yeah ok, at the end of the season.

Southampton head coach Mark Wotte says that on loan winger Nathan Dyer will return to the South Coast when his loan spell at the Liberty Stadium ends.

Dyer has been a big hit at Swansea since joining until the end of the season, scoring in the FA Cup giantkilling at Portsmouth and setting up Guillem Bauza in the midweek Preston win.

The evidence of the on field performances support your opinion, but in fairness, one of the few times I was in UK to watch TV, MLT on SSN listed Dyer as one to watch a few years back, just possibly like many kids who get lost to football between Academy & First Team he may be a slower developer.

Let's hope he has learnt a bit now and comes back and does the business

Confused Ponty. So we can't recall a player if he's on loan because of FA regulations or because of the stupidity of our management in not building in a recall clause?

Everyone else seems to be able to recall loanees... why can't we?

FA Regulations does not seem a strong enough excuse to me, either our management is foolish or we have a recall clause.

I hope you weren't one of those shouting that Dyer should never wear the shirt again after his misdemeanour. Some of those who were are now doing the biggest u turn ever.

Eelpie certainly wasnt - he's been calling for recalling our loanees for a while - particularly Rasiak, he (and I agree) can't see the point of helping our rivals in a relegation battle.
