CB Fry Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Which will happen first? a) The final announcement and completion of the takeover of the club by the successful party or b) The removal of Southampton from the BBC Teletext Championship Club News list? (that's going to hurt) I think b). I think this needs full discussion and possibly a poll. (By all means broaden this out to you know you're in league one when... I notice Sky Sports News have moved us to the L1 ticker already)
Rocker268 Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Surely b wont happen until the official start of next season when the fixtures are announced, until then we should remain a championship club. I think a deal will be done first though
FloridaMarlin Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 If the takeover happens before the publication of the fixutres, it will be A). The BBC keep teams in their respective divisions until the fixtures are published, at which point they are 'accepted' as being in their new division. Someobdy else will tell us when the fixture lists are published.

FloridaMarlin Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 And, not forgetting that the BBC already have us in League 2.... Wishful thinking by Plymouth fan Tony Husband, who has had it in for Saints ever since they took Sturrock. He is currently relishing Saints downfall. So much for BBC impartiality. Ken Tone Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Can still remember the pain of the BBC removing us from the premiership table/page. That happened well into the summer, so I suspect that it does indeed happen when the fixtures are announced. Happy days. K.
Hatch Posted 4 June, 2009 Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Our sticker for the Panini 2009/2010 season is going to be pathetic. No players, no shiny badge, probably a tiny squad photo. Sad times.

CB Fry Posted 4 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 4 June, 2009 Teletext? It's the 21st century ffs! And? Still one of the most accessible sources of two minute news you can get. I must look at the Saints section of BBC Teletext three times a day! When Saints news is relegated to a footnote on the "news in brief" section, that's when our League One existence will really start to bite. I'd been thinking about starting a Teletext related thread for a while, delighted to see it's not "just me"!

Eyes k8 Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 This is all getting a bit morbid, rather like when we finished in the bottom half of the championship ten years running. Can you imagine that ten years. You lot think you've suffered after a couple of bad years, Ten years of putting the table up on teletext and having to wait for the bottom half to come up. So I've worn the T shirt on this one. You need to cheer yourselves up. I can't start threads but one of you should start one: How Rupert will think he's lost his money? I think you'd enjoy that more. ITKSaint Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 So much for BBC impartiality. Fret not, it's only the organisation as a whole that is supposed to be impartial, not every single individual comment by every single employee. So for every League 2 video story, we can expect a report on our 2003 FA Cup triumph. :smt046 You'd think Pinnacle will want to catch the wave of euphoria as the Hartlepool fixture date is announced so I'm going for c) - both on same day. (fixtures announced and takeover confirmed.)

The9 Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 I'm still laughing at Mike Ashley's SportsDirect.com online site moving all their Newcastle merchandise to the Championship section within 2 days of the end of the Premier League season. Surely we're used to this, it's only 4 years since the last one ? Then again, if there are still people using Ceefax...

madsent Posted 9 June, 2009 Share Posted 9 June, 2009 First time i have heard of this site, could be useful Thanks ! It's not that useful. Because of our nickname, we often get our news bundled with that of Saint Mirren, Saint Johntone, Saint Patricks, the Saint Helens rugby league and Northampton rugby union teams and there are occasional bonus snippets of news about US collegiate teams in New England.
