Seems a very good addition to the squad. What an unexpectedly good window it's been so far. All we need now is to offload JWP on loan, or preferably on a permanent (unlikely anyone would want him though) and it'll be a near perfect summer.
-
Of course he's not, it's not worth pretending that he is just to avoid bashing the club. But he's the best we've got at the moment so we need to get behind him.
-
Quite. This one is going to drag out and get very messy.

Happy for Hugo if true but won't believe this until it's on the OS

Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day
niceandfriendly replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Our rivals for the drop strengthening wisely. Doesn't bode well for us but at least the pressure is off -
to any tune that fits: When there comes a time to be Chinese owned It will be the time to be Chinese owned Can we find the time to be Chinese owned This is Jisheng Gao and we are Chinese owned Come on, Come on DOWN THE LANE We are, we are SUPER SAINTS This is, this is all of the tiiiiiiiiime Chiiiiiiineeeesssse owners! Owners they are the owners Of South-ampton FC And when We go to the butchers They will only eat the feet One time for a China man, is three or four times for you Shall we move back to the little Dell or go go go go go?

What I think it absolutely clear, and forgive me if this point has been made previously for I haven't checked the entire thread, is that whether you agree or disagree about Rickie Lambert's potential to be or not to be a finishing coach, regardless of coaching badges or relevant experience, given the fact he was himself a superb finisher, isn't there going to be a fundamental flaw in either the positive side or on the same line of thought the negative side as well?

Park the bus and pray that West Ham have an off day. Not losing would be beyond our wildest dreams so let's hope we can be solid at the back and steal a point.

Ey up what's goin' on 'ere

2 points would be a great return from those four fixtures, but that won't be easy.

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day
niceandfriendly replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Great in terms of he's a very funny man, and a great character for sure, but let's not pretend JWP has ever played well for Southampton Football Club at any moment. To expect him to perform at Premier League level is unfair on the lad actually. He still hasn't had his season long loan at the level he needs to get game time, League 1 or at best lower league Championship, so how can we realistically expect the lad to put in good performances in the Premier League? Totally unfair to criticise him, even though it's true that he's been woeful for us. He needs lower league experience and he will then have a chance to create a professional career in football for himself somewhere down the ladder. -
Most important thing is that we all stick together as fans, and don't start turning on each other just because we lose the opening game of the season. The one good thing about the mess ahead of us is that all fans will be able to unite and be on the same page throughout the season. For once we could have a united fanbase for the entire season. We must be strong for the lads to help them through when will be the toughest season we've had in decades.

With relegation now confirmed it's time to stop worrying about this coming season and start seriously planning for a promotion push next. It's going to be a long slog in the Championship we cannot afford to waste anymore time not planning for it. Talk of upcoming Premier League games is futile now, they're effectively friendly matches.
-
A pretty good result when considering the quality of our squad. At the end of the season we'll be looking back at the games where we only conceded 4 as some of the highlights.
-
Goodness. I know it's only preseason but you'd have thought the players would have at pretended they're professional footballers. What an horrific performance from both sides, amateurish at best. The positive to take from the game is we are slightly less s**t than ASSE, and the negatives are well, everything else. Swansea will be licking their lips.
-
No wonder we are all the experts favourites for relegation this season. It's a shame that we've fallen so far in such a short space of time, but providing we can keep most of the squad together we should be able to get at least play-offs in 2018/19
-
When we sell him next season he'll bring the club a healthy profit, which is the primary aim for Southampton Football Club. There's only one reason we exist and that's to sell players at a huge profit, and we'll do just that with Jack so a big thumbs up to the club for pushing him into the first team and right into the shop window.
-
An unnecessary extension for one of our weakest links in the side is obviously a cause for concern. We're either planning for a relegation scrap this coming season or a promotion push in 2018/19, so at least we're forward thinking which Les and the board do deserve credit for to be fair.
-
We've all been saying it for years, but this is the season JWP really needs to start playing well. Hasn't happened yet, and goodness knows how he still gets regular games for a Premier side without ever performing, but he clearly has a little bit of potential so it's vital he steps up to the plate this year.

Oh wow. This is why we love this forum! Never know what lunacy you're gonna read next.

If you want to worry about something, worry about the fact he ain't training with the first team.

Harrison Reed - Official: Signs for Fulham
niceandfriendly replied to washsaint's topic in The Saints
Good signing for Norwich and a good move for Reed. Not sure why this loan didn't happen a few seasons ago though? I remember when Reed came into the side under Pochettino - I think it was - and played some cracking games. Looked at the time a great prospect. -
VVD is in picture 24.
