  1. Comment of the thread for me. It was one of those lol moments that had my colleagues asking what I was reading. That was an immense 3 points for us. Loved it. Mom for me was Chappers, he was every where, I was disappointed/surprised he was subbed, but I guess he was knackered. Honorable mentions must go to Guly, Hoover & Kelvin, who made a couple of cracking saves & some great catches in the last 10 minutes when the pressure was on (and to think some want him "rested").
  2. Probably not a normal occurance, but sadly I think it is not unheard of. I remember seeing photos a few years ago of people walking past the bodies of babies. They were dumped in the street because of the one child per family rule & were considered surplus to requirements.
  3. Me three
  4. Marathon for me.
  5. 25 correct, out of a possible 24, that is truly awesom Dune, perhaps you should be Queen.
  6. 16/24. Looks like I'm on the 'plane out of here, although it will probably take a couple of years for my extradition to be ratified.
  7. I always park at Centurion Business Estate by Northam Bridge, probably 15-20 minutes walk to the Plume, and it's free.
  8. Just the once though. I always amazes me how quickly some players can fall. What is it six years, or so since he was playing in the prem, now he's earning a pittance (presumably) in the Conference South. He's only 29 years old, hardly at the end of his career, yet he's playing semi-pro. I just don't get it?
  9. Wasn't that the late great Bobby Robsons description of Gazza?
  10. I think that is the crux of it. Redknapp is the type of managed who buys success, or his way out of trouble and is rarely seen around the training ground. I don't think Adkins has had the luxury of spending big ( until now) & has coached players to get his success. Granted Adkins has spent a bit here, but I think he is a very good coach as well as a man-manager.
  11. Christ, that's a real shocker. Rip.
  12. Glad it's not too serious. As a footnote to this thread, if you get sudden extremely painfull headaches seek medical advice immediately. My best mate had no history of migranes, and put up an extreme headache for a couple of days before visiting the doc. He was in an operating theatre later that day being operated on for a brain tumour. He died a week later aged 32.
  13. I'd sooner look at the pictures on the "Worst injuries" thread than the one above.
  14. Maybe he gave it to his own kid. That's what I'd do anyway.
  15. I don't usualy watch the screen either, but they are useful when the barage balloon of a bloke who sits in front of me needs to get up to let his kids out, just as Saints are attacking, I just need to look to my left to see what's going on. They used to show replays, but I don't think this has been possible since we were relegated from the prem.
  16. I wonder if in 40 years time anyone will be remeniscing about the likes of Tinie Tempah & Dappy in a similar thread?
  17. & Freddie Mercury would have been 65 this year Debbie Harry was 66 in july (god did I have a thing for her when I was 14) Bowie is 64 It's very wrong that rock stars should get old.
  18. J P Walsh (or maybe Welsh) was the company. They were on our list of preffered tenderers, back in the late 80's (hence the fuzzy recolection) for subsidence jobs. His father-in-law is Billy Walsh (Welsh), I've met him many times - nice bloke. I didn't realise they'd gone to the wall (pun intended).
  19. I remember those days as well.
  20. Chappers could have had a couple today also.
  21. Is there any better way to spend a hot, sunny afternoon?
  22. I love this guy. I thought he was great first time around, now I know he is great. Fantastic player, a little over enthusiastic some times, but plays with passion, and you can't fault that. Unlucky not to score today. I seem to remember that his Mrs is a bit tasty too!
  23. He left us with some gems. Rip.
  24. I'm not so sure his wage demands will be particularly high, surely getting a low wage (in football terms) is better than not getting a wage, as he is currently. I agree with others that if he if fit enough & his attitude is right, he would be a good back-up for Lambert.
