If Salmond thinks the English will allow their central bank to be lender of last resort to a foreign country , he really is deluded. The only credible option he had is to join the euro and the ECB fulfilling that function. I don't really understand why Salmond didn't propose joining the euro . I know its toxic, but the reason its toxic is that its a currency union without economic union. Which is exactly what salmond proposes by keeping the £. The only difference is that the eurozone nations won't turn round and say they can't join.

They CAN keep the £ , any country can use it. The issue isn't whether they can use the £ the issue is whether it is a viable to use it without fiscal union . And without the BoE acting as lender of last resort.

The line that the Tories have no mandate in Scotland is clearly nonsense. At the last election the SNP polled 19.9% of the vote and the Tory party 16.7% . Not a great deal of difference , but one that's exaggerated by the FPTP system. In 2005 under Michael Howard the Tories were within 2 % points of the SNP. There must be vast areas of the country that don't vote SNP , but are they crying into their Buckfast about getting a "government they didn't vote for " It's also complete nonsense to try and portray it as a Tory / Scotland thing based on recent election performance , it wasn't until 17 years ago that the Nats polled more votes than the Tories in Scotland . Whose to say what the results will be in 17 years time. If they're going to throw hundreds of years of Union away because they don't like the modern Tory party , they deserve everything Greek that's coming to them. I just hope Westminster tells them to fck off when they come round shaking their buckets when it goes tits up

As an ex retail manager I came across this plenty of times . We had packs with % free, that then went on offer. Unless the product is short coded you take the % product off sale and add them to your back stock. You then sell the normal bottles at the offer price . When the offer ends , you put your % product back on sale. That way your OSH customer gets the perception that you've always got offers on his favourite tipple , which creates a bit of loyalty and you stop this sort of nonsense happening over a couple of quid. The manager of this store is clearly an idiot or doesn't know enough about his stock and offers

Anybody who thinks that Cameron could have got away with not endorsing a vote is clearly deluded. Once the Nats won a majority a vote was inevitable , no matter which party was in government .
