You are the one man who can unite this club and attract players and quality managers alike. You are the one person who is still a hero to those of us at Saints who need a figurehead to follow. Northam Girls Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 It takes a brave man to put his reputation on the line - to bare all in the public gaze for something he truly believes in. You have, yet again, tried to save the club we all support. The fact that you have failed is no bad reflection on you, better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all. It’s easy for us all to sit here and F5 hoping for good news and complains when it doesn’t happen – you did more than that and for that we truly thank you. A legend you will always be to true Saints supporters.

pallidcreatures Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 Thanks Matt for stepping up and trying. I think the man deserves a bit more respect. Evo Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 There's no point in jumping up and down and getting agitated about things, we are where we are. Matt did what he thought was best, as it turns out this was wrong, which makes him human after all. It won't change what he did on the pitch for us, nothing can take that away. I still think he could serve in a prominent role at the club should we not fold. Sadly this whole episode probably makes this unlikely, which is our loss. While many of us have been very concerned about what's been going on behind the scenes over the last couple of weeks, I actually feel better now that it's more out in the open. Everybody now has their eyes wide open. Maybe everyone in and around the club can quit any politicking and focus on the primary objective - saving the club before it's too late. Arizona Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 I am possitive Matt has always acted in, what was in his oppinion, the bennefit of the club. I also feel his has been mislead like the rest of us by this pinnacle group. Any group who pull out over something as trivial as a ten point deduction really are not serious about Saints long term prospects. I cannot believe Matt would have lent his name to this bid had he known this was the case at the start. I hope the Toblerone basher take us over and appoint MLT as chairman. There is no stain on his integrity in my eyes.

Window Cleaner Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 Without him we'd have been screwed already. He tried his best, it was the only bid that looked even slightly likely, but he doesn't personally have the money so there's major limits to what he can do. The FL screwed us in the end as they put any bidders in an impossible situation with the -25 points. Don't be fooled into thinking it was just a -10 issue. How can anyone invest in a club on -25, likely relegated again, with a pointless season and poor crowds? They wouldnt attract a manager or players on -25, they knew they'd be screwed. Simply truth is, the FL would rather see a very old club go out of business than admit they may have got it wrong. Don't be such an ass man, the FL didn't screw us, they asked for their rules to be followed,Pinnacle and their tinpot finance scheme screwed us.End of. Plus he has no coaching qualifications (the last time I looked anyway ) and no business qualifications whatsoever. How totally and utterly myopic? Look what having a chairman with supposed business acumen did for us last time. People who think a club can be run like any other business are sadly disillusioned. Sunderland aren't doing too bad with Niall Quinn as Chairman are they? Would you say Lowe did a better job than he's doing on Wearside? I'm sorry but you're way in the minority here in thinking Le Tissier could not do a job for the club at that sort of level. The guy is very articulate and knows how the football world works and whatever you may think, a 'footballing face' on the board can only be a good thing. I'm sorry that I don't suffer from the same MLT blindness as most of you. His attitude to obtaining coaching qualifications told me more about him than his (unfulfilled) career on the pitch. 'I started but I found it boring so I gave up'. He could have been one of the great footballers of his time to rival Gaza,Hoddle,Shearer or Cantona, but he couldn't be assed to move on and get into a good side. Which was great for us but it cost him half his potential.

Window Cleaner Posted 30 June, 2009 Share Posted 30 June, 2009 Hang on, wasn't it AFTER the period of exclusivity was given that the main money man got cold feet and walked? In which case how would Leon Crouch have known he was going to do that ? there was never a "main money man" get that into your head man. Lynam said before exclusivity that he had one (1) exceedingly wealthy client who had decided to go it alone after the others had pulled out. Then they started stalling over trifles(see Fry's statement) and finally revealed the main man Fialka who, to all obvious enquiries is not personally a rich man,so where did the money come from? the FL probably wanted to know that and may not have liked what they heard or didn't hear. Lynam was bullsh*tting even before the end of exclusivity, why? who knows but money they had not.
