The overseas consortium are complaining: They have a higher offer, speaking to Fry yesterday afternoon, have money in account already, plans on and off the field and feel they should own us!!!!

you couldn't make this up could you?????? What a farce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sources close to them say they have put forward a solid business plan to help take us forward in the next few years, got experienced structure in place on & off the field.

Lawyers and representatives have been left incredulous at the events of the past few days.

On several occasions they have believed they were in a good position to complete a deal.

Echo understands the groupd could even be prepared to write to the FL to complain if Liebherr goes through.

Echo states Liebherr is worth £2.5b (front page), back page they say £3b and front page again they say £2.5m?!?!?!? Guess they used an 'm' instead of a 'b'.

Hopefully this will be the last time that I'll be living in this bizarre world where I wait for Echo reports from someone named Master Bates!

You hurted my feelings :(

Ha ha! Sorry. it's just I was just about to say to my wife the other day that I was going to wait for Master Bates' update before I went to work - but I decided not to 'cause it just sounded weird!!! Plus hopefully the deal will be completed today - so the Echo news will be insignificant from now on...

Could this ( IF true ) upset the creditors enough to tell Mr Fry to stop the Swiss bid whilst

they look at the increased bid ?

Depends how advanced the Swiss deal is. If most of the documents have already been signed then the answer would be a swift 'no'. However, there is always that element of doubt in business until the ink is dry on the contracts.

'could even be prepared' isn't will though is it and TBH once the contract ios signed and we are owened by the Swiss there is fart all they can do about it - I suspect no matter how much they put together it still didn't compare to the £££ of the Swiss in the end

but i was under the impression it wasn't the administrators job to say who's best for the club long term, its his job to get the best deal for the creditors NOW, so if the other group offer more, isn't it his (Frys) job to accept their bid?

Yikes

Well MB, this gives us worried about Fry paranoids even more ammunition.

Was this due to delay by the "mystery group"?

Old School Tie?

Marketing B***S?

A puppetmaster pulling the strings?

Or is it really, after all we have been through FINALLY the REAL DEAL?

That gossip thread looks more and more likely to last to the dangerous 150 page mark

Typical Echo. It is noticable that Radio solent have not mentioned any problems with other consortia, neither have any other BBC outlets. They seem to be sticking to the facts - if it's on their media, we can start worrying.

The Echo was so much better in the days of Graham Hiley and John May, when they were really ITK.

Just because the other consortium have upped their bid I hope this does not jeopardise the Swiss guy taking over. It is not necessarily about who offers the most but surely who in the long term is going to be best for our club. IMO I think I would prefer to have just one owner rather than a consortium.

The FL won't do anything but I'd o thought the creditors will be asking Fry to examine the other bid before closing the deal with the ML. Mind you `a bird in the hand...' springs to mind so maybe they won't. Everyone has had more than enough time to table a bid, I don't think any consortium can have any complaints.

Mods

Can we have one thread and make it a sticky?

"Day 98 take over concluding" or similar?

Or at least all update on of four threads running now.

You dont get it Nick - its forum rules to have multiple threads on the same subject (either apportioning blame or regarding a takeover for example) and maybe one or two random ones that gradually change over time, normally about 6 posts, to also take up the same theme - thats just how it works

The Echo is now as trustworthy as the Sun - they've done nothing but try to scare us for the last few months. One tabloid headline after another in a desperate bid to sell more newspapers. There was a time when they really did get the news first, but I will need to see it reported somewhere more reliable before I get too stressed out.

It doesnt say in any capacity that the deal is done

According to local sources, a rival overseas consortium was attempting to contact the administrators last night to ascertain whether they could still outbid Liebherr, but The Times understands that the deal is final subject to the fund transfer.

Good enough for me.

the deal is final subject to funds transfer it says.

Which sounds to me like contracts have been exchanged and now its just a case of completing.

so for either party to pull out after exchange would be a break of contract and i'd suspect a rather hefty cost to the part that broke the contract.

Would be good enough for me if they used the word "knows" rather than "understands".

e.g. "I understand that the BBQ I bought from Woolworths won't breaK"
