Pardew wants Euell and John -Star

They can both play a role. Only those who don't actually WATCH games and see what happens could doubt that. The key is to ensure that their ability is integrated into the needs of the team. That's down to the players and the manager. That's what I hope will actually change.

Subordination of individuals to the team ethic, always supposing that the team ethic can utilise and integrate the skils of individuals. That's the difference between good management and bad.

Pardew can make that happen. And the ability to harness individual talent to a team ethic of hard work, concentration and sucess is what we've been missing.

That's why our succesful managers have been succesful, and why our under performing managers have failed.

We've had, AND HAVE, some great players. Lets support the manager in getting the best from everyone in a team we're proud to support, working as a team and utilising the undoubted talent we have both young and old (sorry, experienced).

This is a hard league to get out of, but we can and will.

COYR!

With respect Ewell's performances in terms of effort, skill and commitment were at least as good as those of your hero.

Damon Hill? :-s

Sorry I don't follow. Regarding Euell however, I think he is an old carthorse and has been for the best part of 5 years. He lumbers around contributing fook all for most of the season, yet somehow manages to convince people he is quality with half a dosen decent showings at the end of the season.

He's slow, he's uncreative, often lazy, doesn't score and hasn't looked like scoring with any degree of consistency for many years.

Correct. But only someone who goes to the games and watches what happens will uinderstand that.

His effort and work rate is fine. Plus he's strong so he was ideal to get the ball upto at the end of last season. But he actually lacks any footballing ability at all. He couldn't strike a match and has the most shocking first touch I have ever seen.

Hideous player. But in his defence he ran around a bit and held a few people off which got himself and others like McGoldrick into some decent positions.

Get rid of him. We can do alot better now.

As someone said to me last night if they are that good and out of contract why haven't other clubs snapped them up?

However if I was given a choice between Stern and Rasiak I would choose Stern some forget it was his goals that kept us up the other year .

Had he not of been loaned out I am sure he would of scored far more than our other poor forwards last year.

Two out of three ain't bad... Effort and commitment fine. Skill - no. I said last year that if he was a twenty-one year old picked for a song from league you'd love his effort and commitment and hope he'd gets some skills, but as a thirty-one year-old high earner it wasn't good enough & I still think that. Likewise 2 goals in twenty games at centre-forward ain't good enough. I wonder if Pardew has seen him play lately.

As for Stern John - bargain - book him up

I thought Euell done OK towards the end of the season

Don't forget, we're in L1 now - Jason Euell could be a decent member of the squad

AND ... He may well be motivated by AP ...... "New Broom" etc

Be honest ..... would you have felt motivated under Poortvliet or Wotte ??? .....

Stern John will merk this league given the chance. Jason Euell is by far the worst footballer this club has ever seen.

I'm guessing you're only about 8 then? Lee Todd wasn't fit to wash Euell's jockstrap.....or any other player in the history of Saints.

Stern John - Yes

Jason Euell - No

altho Euell will probably do ok in this league, he does get stuck in which is whats needed, but I wont lose any sleep if he doesnt want to stay.

At least he will be on more realisitc wages for a player of his ability ;)

As said by others, you have to question why other teams aren't interested in either player. I'd offer both a very low basic and good win bonus if they play....so it they turn out to be good in this League then they get a decent reward.....if not, we don't waste money.

If this does not suit them then let them go.

Mmm... wonder why Alan Pardew confided his thoughts to The Star and not the Saints fans first ?

Who says he did? I see no reason to think so. The only quote in that piece is the one that's been quoted everywhere, just after he'd been confirmed as the new manager. If he'd spoken to the Star they'd have quoted what he said to them. Tabloids attribute thoughts and wishes to footballers, managers etc all the time; only very rarely do they actually talk to them first.

Back to the Future?

I can't imagine Pardew has made any comment at all about who should or should not be here next season. Why would he, looking at a 3-5 year plan for success elect to waste money on guys who are way past their best, cannot get fit and would keep promising younger graduates out of the side. I don't buy all this experience over youth crap and thank goodness neither did Alex Ferguson. Not that it did him any good.

Adam Hammill, Ali Dia, Lee Todd, Matthew Robinson, Jackobsen, Nillson, Davenport, Pericard; There you go, 8 players all worse than Jason Euell. Granted he isn't the best player we've ever had but far from the worst ever. His main problem was the fact everyone was so annoyed by his over the top wages and his initial spell of not being that bothered. Did well in the pearson run in and played ok for many of his games last season without ever really being exceptional.

Euell is just awful. I'm sorry but he was IMO the worst player who played for us last year

Hypo...worse than Molyneux? Or Gasmi? Or Schneiderlin? Or Liptak?

Sorry, don't agree.

When Euell was playing last season you COULD see the difference. Our organisation improved - and the effort was there (perhaps not the season before..)

When it comes down to it, we have been dis-organised for the last two years on the pitch - at least now we can settle things down.

Having seen the Bournemouth display, Euell could do much better than..say 9 of them that played that day.

Simples.

Stern? Yes without a doubt.

Shift on Rasiak and Saga - unless they put in top draw effort from today.

I agree with those who think the Star are just making a story without knowing anything.

However, if AP did want to keep them then I would have no problem. Prem quality no, this league they could do well.......

Completely agree. We're not so well off for players we can go getting rid of people as good as these two will be in this league. Of course, this is only Star speculation probably planted by their agents.

I think they will both be fine if the new Manager makes them work hard and get fit, much of our problems have been wet managers who wanted to be the players mates and didn't instill any discipline in the training and left us with a load of tired disillusioned hoofers who couldn't finish a match.

The one thing I can see Euell giving us is a bit of strength and robustness we might need in div 1. as mentioned, with a bit of motivation and fitness I think he could do a stabilising job for us, but he certainly isn't one for the future.
