New Southampton Manager Alan Pardew has been quick to draw up a list of players that are set to be enquired about during the weeks leading up to the new season. Chris Dickson and Therry Racon of former club Charlton Athletic, who are also in League 1 following relegation last season, are players Pardew is set to show his interest in.

Alan Pardew is thought to have contacted Leicester City to chase the signature of Max Gradel who has interested a whole host of clubs. Southampton are favourites for his signature after offering £700'000 for his services

Lee Hendrie and Leon Mackenzie are being linked with a move to League 1 club Southampton. Hendrie, who spent the back end of last season on loan with Blackpool is tipped to sign a 3 year deal, with Mckenzie set to sign in a swap deal which could include Polish striker Marek Saganowski moving in the opposite direction.

Isn't McKenzie a free agent?

Released from Coventry I thought. Hendrie would be quality IF his attitude is right, would run a lot games at this level although would leave us lacking a bit of height in the middle if paired with Gillett who should also shine at this level.

Dickson is supposedly quite promising and Racon is quite good. If we could get Shelvey I'd wet my pants' date=' though.[/quote']

Both those players have promising reputations but not sure Charlton would want to sell them to a L1 rival or that the players would come here as opposed to a CCC club. Forget Shelvey, he'll be heading for the PL, has the makings of a top player.

Gradel was on loan at Bournemouth a couple of seasons ago. He was only a young'un but definitely had ability and was pretty quick. Only problem was that he looked pretty lightweight, but hopefully he's beefed-up a bit in the last couple of years...

Would be very surprised if Gradel was let go by Pearson. Another pacy player that is on trial at Charlton that could prosper in L1 is Wade Small.

Chris Dickson would be a great signing. Scored goals for fun on loan at Gillingham last season.

They tried get him in permanently but Charlton wanted more cash than the Gills could find.

Definitely worth a chance.

Charlton fans rate him and were mystified as to why he wasn't getting a game under Parkinson. Don't know if Pardew was playing him or not.

Didn't Therry Racon score that 'wonder goal' against us at SMS last season? Well, I thought it was pretty good anyway...sign him up!

Dickson is an interesting one, couldn't get a game at Charlton but scored plenty on loan at Gillingham......sign him up!

Max Gradel is a player that I vaguely know, mostly from Football Manager. He's a bit Nathan Dyer-like, very quick and good on the ball, but could be given a bit of trouble by the L1 bruisers. However.....sign him up!

Lee Hendrie would be solid for us in the middle of the park, definately sign him up.

Leon McKenzie...i'm not so sure. Hasn't really made that much of an impression on me when i've seen him play, but his versatility could prove to be useful as long as he's on sensible wages. Sign him up!

Think Saga could be making a mistake by going to Blackpool though, he'll never get the level of football he wants up there. Would be better off either going back to Poland or wherever he was linked to or staying with us imo.

Thierry Racon looked pretty good against us last season. Scored a belter at St Mary's. Haven't seen much of him other than that though. The two Charlton players would have to be pretty convinced that Saints have a better chance of promotion that Charlton before they would join - either that or we pay stupid wages (which I am sure the new regime would not sanction).

I think Max Gradel is one of Leicester's best prospects, I'd be surprised if we picked him up considering Leicester don't really need to sell anyone.

My flatmate is a Charlton fan, he keeps saying how Charlton's midfield are Premiership standard and it was their defence and attack which let them down last season. I think Racon would be an excellent signing and if he has links with Pardew then its likely we'll be able to get him.

I do feel we need a bit of a shake up up front. We have good strikers but they have no passion and seem a bit stale. Does anyone know how old Dickson is?

he certainly did and didn't look a bad player. The whole Charlton side looked good IMO and if they keep their players they would be my favourites to win that league.

Leicester fans say he's bulked up a bit and is harder to dispossess. They really like him, though his season in L1 was disrupted by off-the-field problems (sadly he had a number of deaths in the family).

Gradel is highly rated by a lot of Leicester fans, they would be dissapointed to see him leave to join us I imagine.

Leicester have signed a winger from Lincoln this summer.Perhaps a loan might be an option for Gradel.
