Hartlepool game likely to be postponed on Saturday

The Hartlepools boss said that the prospects for the Saints game is as bleak as the winter.

The weather forecast gives him no hope that their pitch will be playable.

"Conditions in the area are as bad as they have ever been, and far worse than last weeks postponement."

Let's hope they decide early, to save the long journey up there.

he can f*ck right off the lazy bastard obviously wants to go xmas shopping at the weekend or put his feet up at home and watch grandstand.

the forecast is NOT THAT BAD. http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2369

get the game on and stop faffing about talking about the weather.

A weeks worth of snow + temperatures barely above freezing + no undersoil heating = a frozen pitch.

It'll be off, I really wouldn't bother.

Alternative plans JM? Get a refund on the tickets mate, I think you only lose a fiver. I've done it before.

Exactly. Actually surprised he doesn't seem keen, bad conditions might level the playing field a bit, negate a few of our better players perhaps?

Have any of you geeks had a look at any Hartlepool forums to see what they're saying about the chances it goes ahead?

An alternative view to Adrians....if its off its one less game to play with our squad - the re-arranged game may come after Jan 1st and we may have recruited by the time the game is replayed.

what difference will that make though, I don't see wholesale recruitments and the only position we need reinforcement for is at the front. I'd be wary of the side being weaker because of departures than stronger because of arrivals.I just don't see us recruiting a front line striker in January.

I checked with eastcoast trains mate, for the tickets we've all got the refund is only an option is the service is cancelled, which is possible if the weather is bad enough to disrupt the service.

Plan B at the moment

Darlington v Altrincham

York v Wimbledon

Doncaster v Barnsley

York railway museum.

got a mates birthday do in london for the evening so if all games off might not travel at all.

Going to be some nice contrasts in the 2nd half of this season, scramble for tickets for Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford, and one man and his dog at Hartlepool and Oldham on tuesday nights.

Because I see things through rose tinted glasses....I cant see any of 'stars' leaving yet if they do they will be replaced.

Both Adkins and Cortese have said there is money to spend ...also just maybe Lambert may have found the net by then as well.

Watching sh1te football in hellholes like Oldham on miserable, wet freezing cold Tuesday nights when it's so cold you can't feel your own b0ll0x is what it is all about mate. Had some classic trips before.

Ok. Looking on the bright side. If it was on, we'd lose anyway. D'you really think this lot would perform on a freezing afternoon in Hartlepool? I think not! If it's off, it gives a bit more time for injuries to heal and we would soon be back up to full strength. Call it off now I say!

We beat them last year on a Tuesday evening in November.

The "boss" in question is none other than Mick Wadsworth. Late of this parish. He has just been appointed for the rest of the season.

I remember Matty being highly critical of him after he had been sacked. Also responsible for our record transfer signing.

must have straw or something on it then.

..or manure, that tends to be warmer.

Anyway, hope you don't travel and have the game called off, which is what happened to my ladies team on Sunday. We drove 115 miles having tried to check with the Federation in the morning as there had been general overnight snow. No news so we had to go. Us hardy mountain girls would have played on the thin snow but we couldn't persuade the other side or the ref. It nearly all kicked off with them so when we actually play there are going to be some snappy tackles.:-)) Fresh snow today which made skiing this morning interesting, and so will training tonight!..

lucky person skiing outside the main holiday periods. Super Besse is opening up this weekend, might go up there, but if those gendarmes bawl me out again for not using the snow chains just because some old idiot can't drive his camper van properly I shall not be amused. M+S tyres are all you need.

They're not just tyres, they're M+S tyres. Sorry, I'll get my coat.

I live near there and i really cant see it being on. The weather is shocking but even if they get the pitch cleared and sorted they wouldnt be able to make the stands etc safe.

It would be heaven for injury lawyers for you with the amount of claiming after going for a burton.

Yep, I have snow tyres (and chains in the boot I've never used). Going tomorrow as well.:-) Mind you, training tonight was cancelled and nobody thought to tell me...

I suspect xxiv is right, and a dozy weekend by the fire seems like a decent alternative, or a decent pub with an open fire...

Nothing wrong with a bit of snow. Get the fans to scrape the snow off the lines. Use an orange football, long sleeved shirts, no poncy gloves mind and goalie wears a short scarf and bobble hat ! Let them get on with it and give them a nice hot cup of oxtail soup at the end with a good pint of pale ale !

I've been putting a towel over my windscreen each night so I can whip it off in the morning and have no snow on there. Maybe the Partypoole groundsman has adapted the same approach with their pitch & a giant towel.

Are players wearing gloves allowed to take throw ins ? Do referees check them to make sure that they're not rubber palmed etc... Could be an advantage.

Agreed the more obscure the place & the more horrible the weather the better I remember Southend last season 4 Trains to get there monsoon rain Saints win 3 1 1400 Saints going mental having a ball.

I hope the Hartlepool game is off cant make Saturday we could do with a week off so our injured players can get fit again
