If thats correct with their contact at FIFA Saints could be playing in the 2018 World Cup

Should make winning games at SMS easy too. The visting team can arrive on the team bus, lose and all leave in a new top of the range Merc. and if the vistors actually win you can be sure the team bus will have an accident on the way home.

Arabs? Interesting.

I was wearing a Saints shirt the other day and got chatting to this city-type bloke in a local bar. He'd had a few and swore blind to me that a consortium from up in Chicago are monitoring a lot of English football (he obviously said 'soccer' here) clubs. Since the death of ML this has included Southampton. The Liebherr Group are a well know company in the USA and his death did get the odd line or 2 in the business press.

It wouldn't mean jack sh#t to me - it's not as if Saints are gonna start playing in Chicago - but having American owners would increase the interest in them over here.

Bring it on I say. I'd love to see some American being interviewed as Saints owner. You lot would be going bright purple as soon as he said something like 'we need to get some more offensive plays in'.

Hmm, well, Cortese hasn't quoted the Daily Mail/Express in slamming these rumours, whereas whatever Dune says can always be backed up by these highly respected newspapers, so, I'm with dune on this one.

True. I'm pretty sure Churchill must have said something on the subject also.

Rumours originate from somewhere....

In this case I suspect a pub somewhere in Skatesville. Does it occur to you that most "rumours" are just made up to wind up some target group or other. How many rumours reported on here have actually come to pass?

A while ago I was in a bar in London with a mate dressed as a city type. He'd had a few. We got chatting to the girl who had been singing on stage. He told her I worked for a promoter who needed a support act just like her for a major European tour. She fell for it too.

I cannot say that American owners have covered themselves in glory so far. Their track record has varied from mediocre (Villa) to abysmal (Liverpool) when not ripping off supporters (United).

Well. it ain't me. I'm too busy stalking Lady Golfers again this week, so that leaves Eric.

No wonder he didn't have any OSH left in stock when his kids csame over, he's cut back to 4 crates a month so he can buy us.

OK I joke.

It's the Qataris. They read the forum avidly and saw how keen we were to become a WC stadium for England's failed bid. They then saw NC wants to move to a new stadium, they need some for 2022 and bingo, there it is, simples

On second thoughts I see now that this was clearly a guarded reference to the Churchill Insurance group planning a takeover.

You heard it here first. As one poster said so sagely, rumours start somewhere. We've just started this one. How long before it is on the Echo or the Sun?
