Charlton Weather Watch/Build Up - game called off! (Dejavu?)

Weather is supposed to warm up by Boxing Day ( up to 4/5 degrees). It'll be fine in south-east London. I'm in north Kent (about 30 miles from the Valley) and there has already been a partial thaw today. Motorways/ roads are fine in and out of area around Valley (seen them myself today).

I also will be there if the game is on and I may even turn up in a Santa Costume with my Saints Shirt on top!

Am staying with my Grandparents in Kent sooo it won't be too far for me to go but would be gutting to get there to find that it's called off and if it does get called off then I should be at the rearranged game when it happens but would prefer for it to be on Boxing Day but we will see!

COYR :D!!

BBC weather shows up to 5 degrees down here, but a high of 1 in London. Think if that stays the same they'll probably call it off at their meeting on friday due to the pitch and 'safety of surrounding areas'.

I would think they'll do their utmost to get the game on because if it's postponed until a Tuesday in March they'll lose money on

the gate and in-stadium sales.Boxing Day games are usually one of the seasons biggest money spinners.Look at us last season, Exeter at home, true we reduced prices but we got 30K+, wouldn't get that on a wet Tuesday in March.

Why dont they push the KO back to say 5pm to allow a few more hours of milder air/thaw, or is that too much common sense for the Football Authorities?

All three League One games and two Championship games in London on Boxing Day are at 1pm, the only Premier League London game on Boxing Day in London is at 12pm. I imagine this is for a deliberate reason and probably on request of the Met Police.

Assuming there's not another dumping of snow up here before then then that game will go ahead. We had drizzle last night and this morning in the Greenwich/Blackheath area which has cleared most of the snow off of the roads and surrounding areas. Ice could still be a factor but I can't quite see that being enough of an issue before now and then....So it's whether the snow that is/isn't forecast (depends on who or what you listen too) comes down again.

Oh again trains are currently back to normal in the London and SE area....Travel along that line is fairly reliable even last week when it was bad. You might get the odd delay or cancellation but so many trains go through the Greenwich/Charlton area that it's fairly easy to get there and back.

If it's Boxing Day (not for you, Trousers) then there will be no mainline trains. I believe that the Tube trains will be running.

You'd have to ask why they are so desperate to get this game on. Most likely because they think boxing day is their best chance of beating us; before Nicola spends billions on players no doubt.

Call it off; so then I can go to the pub instead.

Boxing Day is quite often one of a clubs largest crowds of the season. Saints are bringing a lot of fans, there will be more than usual amount of home fans and more in corporate seats than normal. They will have ordered food and drink for this match and other things like programs. A postponement of a boxing day fixture would have a large financial impact on a team.

Not for Charlton it isn't, they only got 17,000 show up last boxing day and I think Swindon took the full allocation of 3,300.

Think Adkins should mix it up a bit for this one ...

Davis

Jaidi Fonte Seaborne

Richardson Dickson

Chaplow Hammond

Chamberlain Lallana

Barnard

Leaving the opportunity to bring on Lambert from the bench

Not that is probably means anything but neither Chaplow or Barnard appear on the build up video clips.

I see Sheff Wed game is OFF (v Tranmere) and there is a pitch inspection for Brighton's game (v D & R) tomorrow.

As Brighton play Charlton on Wednesday 29th, I wonder if Charlton want to play us on Sunday (to get match practice) or whether they would prefer it to be off to be fresh for the Brighton game.

I seriously cannot believe this game being called off is even being considered. I live / work in London.

Nearly all of the snow and ice has now gone melting away and especially all of the main road pavements are clear just due to people walking on them.

Doesn't look like it will snow over the next two days so this game will be on.
