Franny Benali

Blimey, something has gone on with Franny and NC

''I rented a house to the football club, Cortese was the tenant. When we moved back we had to employ cleaners and we also had unpaid rent.

I'm not prepared to say any more on the matter, as it's now a legal case."

I'm disappointed. I didn't think that Franny was so childish as to air his grievances on TV. We will, of course, recall that Franny is no longer allowed to hire rooms at SMS, or am I wrong in that?

True, that was way back when Markus first bought the club - within the first few months. His company hired an office space at SMS, was on the OS and everything....that was a short lived experience to say the least and i think it was all linked to the house renting saga.

Rumour is that Cortese/SFC rented Benali's house and Cortese then carried out alterations (particularly flooring). Benali was unaware and quite rightly kicked up a fuss. At that time Benali was "renting" an area at SMS for his business. After the row he was asked to leave.

I must underline that this is a rumour that has been out there since it all kicked off last year. Benali seems to be giving some credence to that rumour, or at least his version of it.

Sad that Benali has used TV on the subject.

How childish. Cortese has said previously that there are people trying to rock the boat. Now Benali, a legend to me, had gone live on Sky and done his best to further harm the club. This has no relevance to SFC. If it is a personal issue, keep it that way FFS.

Did SFC not rent his house then??

why talk about it on Soccer Am, 99.9% of the viewers have no idea who Cortese is, or give a **** either.

Indeed. It sounds like a commercial dispute.

I think Franny seems like a really decent bloke and maybe he's very angry (perhaps justifiably - I don't know) but this is pretty unprofesional and unnecessary.

The issue with the house were about alterations which will require financial adjustment to put right. The office space leased by Franny was stopped over some financial issue at the time. I heard that Franny was in difficulty, but only know that as rumour. As all leases were with Saints, it's more than possible one was held against the other, but that would be a no goer until you got a court ruling.

Think it's a shame cortese doesn't seem to make an effort to get on with any of our club legends!

Obviously he gets on ok with Dodd who, in my eyes, is more of a legend than Benali. Benali is a cult figure, for various reasons, most of which are associated with him being rubbish yet long serving and hard working. Dodd was a genuinely good player who was also a long-term servant.

Cortese seems to have, at least arguably, valid reasons not to get on with MLT and Benali.

That seems about right.

FB and MLT are legends, no doubt about it, but I wish they'd keep their personal disputes with Cortese private rather than giving the media another chance to have a pop at the club. Why go on international TV and start talking about a legal case that nobody knows about except you and another person?

Where I am working there are two business's right next to the bus lane I am constructing. One is a sign shop and one is a wholesale electrical suppliers. Both of them are run by fellers in their 40's who have taken over the business from their fathers. They are being paid handsomly by my client, the local council, for the bit of land we are working on, plus big bucks for loss of trade when we close the road. Both of then are informed by me when the road is closed, what we are doing when, and we have also doen some small works for each of them, (i.e some concrete repairs, white lining of their car parking, built a step etc.) I have a pretty good relationship with both. But their Fathers are a big pain in my backside as they are complaining constantly, asking for extotionate things, and stopping my work on two occasions. Their son's love them, after all they built a wonderful legacy for them to follow on and continue to build on, and I am most courteous to them in every way, but unfortunatly they are no longer involved in the business and have no real say, really, as legally their son's have entered into legally binding agreements.

I have a sub-contractor too, who has taken over the company of his Dad, but he, (and his Grandad) still interfere in the works.

I think where i'm going is that as much as these people are appreciated and have a special place in the heart, and their contribution is fully realised, aknowledged and really had an impact, it's great to see them, but they are the past, and they shouldn't involve themselves anymore. It's someone elses job now to carry on the good work.

And just as I posted the above, In walks the subbies dad, demanding 'Where's Gingerlad' (his son) and wanting to take a gang off to another job. Oh, the irony. Oh, synchronisity, you bastardos.

It really depends on how you define Legend. To me one club players who are regulars in the first team are legends. But just the word legend means in the past. What ever their beef is it should not be aired on Soccer AM. Have both gone down in my estimations - nope still legends to me but, I also think they need to put their respective brains in gear.

I'm sure we'll find out more soon. The Echo will probably get their next 'exclusive' out of it.

It's very disappointing to hear about this kind of thing, and it's equally disappointing to hear that some people will use any excuse to have a go at Cortese on this forum as we have seen above. One wonders if some people just enjoy complaining, and if they'll be celebrating with the rest of us if there's a good result today or at the end of the season - surely if we accomplish something they can't properly participate, since they picked holes in what essentially will deliver that success.

Supporting this club means more than supporting the 11 players on the pitch. It means all the people behind the scenes too. If you can't do one out of those two, then don't bother with the other.

You are constructing a bus lane? Tsk. You have gone down in my estimation ;)
