Time to Drop Davis

Legod Third Coming

Recommended Posts

It's been time to drop this poor excuse for a keeper for seasons. He's going to bugger up the promotion bid, which is why I thought it most odd we didn't get someone who can dominate his six yard box etc in the transfer window. Davis is terrible.

Sorry Kelv, I have to agree here. very very poor for the first. Look at any keeper and anything that close to the body you throw out a leg and its an easy save. Second, the ball was dropping in the 6 yard box, criminal from a keeper to be on his line like that. Time for bart, but we need in a proper no 1 in summer.

Jesus Christ.

First goal: Seaborne's error.

Second goal: Harding's error.

Utterly clueless comments.

First goal keeper beaten at his near post.

Second, ball dropping from height in six yard box.

Blind to his faults I'm afraid you are.

I've been a huge supprter of his for years. He's been good for us. Today he's not good enough. When a player is out of form, drop him. End of. That's how you win a league. Sentimentality is worth nothing in the trophy cabinet.

I can see why people are blaming him for the first, he should not get beaten at his near post. Poor.

but the 2nd? bit harsh. It wasn't anything to do with him, that was the players in front of him.

Anyway, 2nd half coming up. Let's hope i can read lots of happy comments in 45mins.

Absolute rubbish - Kelvin has also done some great work for us in this game and the blame for the two goals must be mainly placed on the shoulders of Seaborne and Harding - especially Seabourne.

It is not the first time this season that Seaborne's suspect defending has affected the performance of the rest of the defence as they attempt to compensate. He is getting better, but still too prone to mistakes.

Really? Why can't he come five yards off his line and catch the ball? Keepers all over the world can use the WHOLE box. All of it. Honest.

Well imo the second goal is as much seabournes fault as hardings. The reason it looks like Hardings fault is because he is shuffling across as Seabourne lost his man and Harding was trying to cover both men, admittedly he doesn's deal with the cross well but Seabourne isn't good enough to for a championship winning side.

If we want to get out of league one, we need to get in a very good loan keeper quick. Davis is well off form. Bart may need more time not sure. I hope Atkins sorts it out after this display.

Sorry but you are talking bollo cks. If we took away all the times he has saved us, we wouldn't even be in the mix. Why do so many of our 'fans' seem hell bent on finding negatives, Saints don't need that type of 'support' .

1st goal looked like it got past him too easy, 2nd he should have come out an caught it.

Made a couple of good saves but I would be tempted to play Bart, every time a cross comes in I sh!t myself, the defence look nervous and the opposition look like they know he's not gonna come and get it as well.

We definitely need to review our goalkeeping options for next season. But dropping Kelvin for Bart, when Bart has played so little first team stuff in recent years and has never played in a run of games so critical to the club, is a big, big, gamble.

I find it unfortunate that Kelvin's f**k ups today and against Tranmere didnt happen during December or early in the transfer window, when NA might have been more inclined to do something about it.

can we nip this in the bud please. We are trying to get promotion out of this league. Its not easy, we will not win every game. We have a very good manager and a pretty good team. Why are we slagging off one of our players. Its been creeping in over the last few weeks or more. Kelvin is starting to be a target for a feeble minority. Stop it. He is a good goal keeper. Get off his back and f........ing support the team.

Seaborne not harding for the second goal, look at where he was stood, by fonte not his man. If he had been would have cleared the ball before it reached harding. Seaborne also gave the pen away, looked slow and out of position all game!

You must be an expert not knowing our manager's name 'n'all

All last season and this we have said on this forum that Kevin will not dominate his box. At this crucial time of the season chickens are still coming home I am afraid. 5 dodgy goals in three games is a dropable offence unfortunately. Seabourne was poor too.

This is a very difficult thing to decide on - there are time when Kelvin has been horrendous in goal but equally there are times when he has single-handedly won us points with some great saves. He still has the quality, but his old gremlin of inconsistency seems to be creeping back up on him. I think he's certainly good enough to be our No.1, but he does seem to have problems with confidence, as he makes one mistake and then it snowballs into making a whole ream of errors in a number of matches.

My opinion: keep things how they are for the time being and re-evaluate in the summer. Kelvin is 34 now, there are dozens of goalies older than him in the football league, but maybe a player/coach role and taking a less active role in first-team duties would be better for next season. I have reservations about Bart being good enough for the NPC. He's good at this level, no doubting that, but there is a gulf in quality between L1 and the Championship. We should look at bringing in a younger, up and coming 'keeper like Joe Lewis, Alex Smithies or Jason Steele to secure our long-term future in goal, because that's a problem that needs solving sooner rather than later.

For Me the first goal was definatly down to KD's poor positioning and I think if they dont score that one we would have won at a canter. That goal definatly got them going .

I think also we must now regret not pushing the boat out in the transfer window for CMS, Even at a couple of million he would have been a bargain.

he saves us more points than we really realise.

so would most keepers. The majority of keepers are all good shot stoppers but few can command the box and come for crosses. I am a goal keeper and trust me KD should have had the first one without a doubt. (although the real question should be how did he get to have to make a save in the first place - Seaborne!!) The second was on his 6yrd line........KD was rooted. Would you see Van dar sar stay on his line.....no at worst he would have gone to punch clear if he felt he was going to get battered.

All in all I do think we should look to drop KD for Bart, if only to show KD that if he wants to remain Saints' No1, he will have to raise his game.

There's a lot of truth in the fact that Kelv' was at fault for the first two goals, but then Seaborne should not have been done so easily for the first either. Given the performance of Bart against Man U i think it's time to give him a go in the league. Personally i'm not convinced there's a massive difference in quality between the two, but i'd hope the competition would raise the game of both.

Saying that today was always going to be high scoring and Peterborough is not an easy place to go and get any kind of result, and in hindsight it's losing the lead that hurts, not so much the result.

Sadly I agree with most posters. He's done well for us over the seasons but his positioning and confidence recently is leaking the goals. Bart might not be the answer - they say a change is as good as a rest but I'm concerned that Bart may not cut it in the Championship - he'll do for now but we need to have better options....

This Davis attack is mad! He may have made a few errors recently but he has saved us so many times over the years and is a model pro. Seaborne was absolutely terrible tonight, had a 2 yard start on Mackail-Smith and plodded back, gave a penalty away and misjudged the flight of the ball in the air all the time. Mackail-Smith tore him apart, getting in front and winning everything and made him look stupid. Guly was also very poor, his passing is very bad and kept giving them silly free-kicks. What a game though, thank goodness we have Chaplow in the middle!

He would, but by the sounds of it they rejected all bids as keeping him and Lewis was their only chance of promotion. If they don't make it, they'll go, good player though and would be great with lambert.

That was the thought that kept striking me - again and again. Just take out Barney and put CMS in and they would be bedlam.

Granted Davis is not perfect, but only a few months ago fans were claiming he was the best in the league.

Yes his distribution is poor and at times frustrating but he has become the latest scapegoat.

Davis isn't going anywhere and we would be better off getting behind him for the rest of the campaign, and if necessary change keeper at the end of the season.

Every mistake is under the microscope in a massively important season and even more so as a keeper.
