SaintBobby Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 Only going to do the first team.. I like Chaplow but am not sure his market value would have gone from 50K to 800K in the last few weeks. Incidentally, FourFourTwo this month rates Lallana as the 2nd best player in L1 and AOC as the 4th (Elliot Bennett of Brighton is 1st, having been responsible for half of all Brighton's assists this season). The article places Lallana's value at £3m and says Bournemouth have a 25% sell-on clause.
VectisSaint Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 Davis- 200k Butterfield- 100k Jaidi- 75k Fonte- 1.2m Harding- 400k Chamberlain- 6m Chaplow- 400k Schneiderlin- 1m Hammond- 600k Lallana- 5m Lambert- 800k Barnard- 800k Guly- 600k Don't quite follow how players signed on a free transfer within the last few weeks suddenly now have a transfer value. Jaidi has no sell-on value either, his next move is clearly into retirement. We all know as well that we have been offered £10m or so for Oxo, so his "value" is at least that (not that I agree with stupid transfer fees for 17 year olds but sadly thats a fact of life these days). Otherwise only Lallana, Morgan and Lambert have any significant value, assuming Morgan's injury is not too bad. I don't think we would get a fee for anyone else, except possibly Fonte. ChrisPY Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 There's a difference between value and what we'd sell someone for. Why would we sell someone for their value only to have to replace them with a similar player for a similar value? ---------Value---Sell---------- Davis--£200k--£600k Bart---£100k--£350k Harding-£200k--£500k Dickson-£200k--£500k Fonte--£1m---£1.8m Jaidi----£0----£250k Seaborne-£200k-£600k Martin---£150k--£750k Butters--£150k--£400k Richardson-£150k-£500k Chamberlain-£3m--£10m Lallana---£3.5m---£6m Chaplow--£150k--£500k Hammond--£100k-£500k Morgan----£1.5m--£3.5m Barnard--£500k--£1m Lambert--£800k--£1.5m Guly-----£300k--£1m Total---£12.05m--£30.25m Obviously most teams wouldn't pay some of the sell value for players which means we won't sell them. That's the figure it would probably take to let them go.

We underperformed at the start of the season, but I'd say we've performed to expectations since. Given the start we had, we needed to go on a run of top form to get in and around the automatics again - and we're there.

S-Clarke Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 No we have not. Results wise we have, maybe not in terms of performances - but who performs 100% every game over the course of a season? Results wise we're up their with Brighton, unfortunately our start hampered us - which isn't anything to do with Adkins and co.

SuperMikey Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 If Andy Carroll is worth £35m, then Chambo's value should be around £2-3m and his sale value would be £10m+. He has the potential to be a great Prem winger.
Lighthouse Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 Players are only really worth what someone is willing to spend on them. Look at Andy Carroll, a massive panic buy after Torres was sold, they paid 3 times what he's worth. As such I'd say players like Kelvin and Jaidi are worth £0. Not because they're useless, but because nobody is going to spend Money on a 34 year old 'keeper and a 35 year old centre half in League 1.

VectisSaint Posted 13 March, 2011 Share Posted 13 March, 2011 That's my two cents anyway. I really don't see any logic. With 2 or 3 notable exceptions I don't believe we would get more for any of our players if we sold them than waht we paid. Because we are a relatively wealthy club we paid over the odds for some of our players. We would not get fees for most if we tried to sell them now, most clubs would just stick 2 fingers up if we tried to get that much out of them for overpriced players. Our only real assests are Lallana and Oxo, possibly Fonte, after that fees for these players is a fairy story. Thats not to say they are poor players, but we paid over the odds to assemble the best team in the division, it is questionable whether it worked of course. Had to laugh at the prospect of getting £100k for Holmes

He's still young, and if he can get his fitness in check then he'd be a good asset for any club at our level.

We might get something for Martin on a tribunal basis but as he wasn't from our academy I doubt that it would be much.Gobern is a different matter though but as he has little first team experience to speak of we won't get megabucks from a tribunal. I don't think we would get a fee for anyone else, except possibly Fonte. Nonsense. - Puncheon is playing games in the Premier League this season. - West Ham in January made a bid for the 4th choice centre back - Aarron Martin. - Why only "possibly" a fee for Fonte, that is absurd. He'd make it into every Championship and a few Premier League squads. - Saints 3rd choice left back is a regular out on loan for Championship side Doncaster. - Wayne Thomas and Simon Gillett also play for Doncaster in the Championship despite neither being good enough to make the Saints first XI. - To suggest Mills, Puncheon, Martin, Gobern, Hammond, Harding, Dickson, Barnard, Guly etc wouldn't have a transfer fee if sold really is strange! There is no 'value' of a player, there is only what other clubs are willing to spend on a player and what we are willing to sell them for. This can work in different ways. A few examples: Player - Saints asking price - Other teams willing to pay - Result Kelvin £400k £0k He will never be sold Jaidi £100k £0k He will never be sold Harding £500k £0k No value because he is out of contract in summer Chamberlain £5m £10m He is in high demand, so Saints can name their price.
