beatlesaint Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 What's up with him then? Would be handy if he wasn't out for too long... I'm sure Nigel wont reveal anything in his after match interview, he never discusses injuries, so we probably wont know for a while.
S-Clarke Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 Twisted awkwardly and did his knee. Didn't even bother to attempt to restart - he went straight off being helped by the physios. I'm ****ting it cause I think it's going to be a bad one. Best case is weeks from how it sounded. (I think Sibley made a tweet that his knee was bent?) Rod Le Shearer Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 Probably an ACL injury, unfortunately. Thats the usual suspect to give way when twisting the knee by turning/changing direction. Out for the season if thats the case, hope not though!
alpine_saint Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 Sounds like cruciate ligament damage. We'll be lucky to see him again this season.

TBF Nigel sounded quite downbeat about it after the game, didn't let onto too much, usually you'd hear him try to reassure etc.

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 Would be disappointed if it's something which keeps him out for a while as he's been one of the standout performers in recent games. That said, Chappers grabbed his chance to stay in the team when Lallana was out injured and this could be a chance for Steeeeeve to take his place on the wing. Maybe Holmes even. James Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 A lot of people jumping the gun here I feel. I'm hoping its not serious but there's no point in saying he's done his ACL and wondering if we'll see him again this season until we have it confirmed. Could easily have just been a bad jarring which will settle down. If it was cruciate then he wouldn't have been walking off the pitch (aided or not). JoeShmoe Posted 26 November, 2011 Share Posted 26 November, 2011 Chappers tweeted that he's tweaked his knee, having a scan but hopes nothing serious. Seems to me he's more important to us just now than Adam is
LeBenali Posted 27 November, 2011 Share Posted 27 November, 2011 The fact he walked (hobbled) off rather than left the pitch on a stretcher is hopefully a sign that it isn't too serious.

Window Cleaner Posted 28 November, 2011 Share Posted 28 November, 2011 His departure from the pitch and us losing 2-0 on Saturday was no coincidence! We really lacked something without him. He's been a revelation this season. Probably because he's been moved into the position that suits him best,he's certainly not a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder for that matter. He's an attack minded player but as we had too many of those he was being used as a stop gap. We got his replacement wrong on Saturday, we should have shuffled the pack by putting Morgan in his preferred holding /distribution role and sending Cork forward. It was obvious but NA seems not to want to change what they've been working on all week in training. If only matches were just like training, they'd all finish with handball scores,28-25 or something like that. ottery st mary Posted 28 November, 2011 Share Posted 28 November, 2011 (edited) If you have been working to a plan then surely when Chappers went off why not replace him with SDR .. stretch them and leave the two midfielders Cork and Hammond....Continue with the tactics adapt/review when required.. Spiderman complicated the system and the middle was congested and they still won the park.. and I am sure, SDR would have caused Brizzle more problems or at least more than Spiderman ever did... Review the game as you would at a later stage..and maybe then Spiderman for Cork or Hammond.. Nigel gave Brizzle the game with that wrong substitution at that time gave the game away... Just my OPINION................Take it or leave it..... AND remember Nigel is the main man and I am just the second best footer coach to him:rolleyes: Edited 28 November, 2011 by ottery st mary Forgot to add just my opinion and my own observation
