Sheff Utd 1-0 Saints Post match carnage.

I have said all along that we need to aim for the 40 point mark and that we will be fighting for our Premier status. I have been consistently ridiculed and yet now those very same people are starting to say exactly what I had dared to say through the start of the season.

Some people get silly about losing to lower league opposition. We beat Man U in 1976 in the FA Cup Final FFS. It is written in the Football Bible that these things will happen and they frequently do. We should congratulate Seff Utd. and move on. I think we need to rest Mane. His error led to the Free Kick from which they scored. That would not have happened earlier in the season. Saturday we go in as underdogs now which I hope will suit us. Apart from VW being suspended getting back to full strength. Hey ho!!

The better side won' date=' which is embarrassing when they're two divisions below. In addition to the injuries, we've now decimated our own team for Saturday with 3 silly suspensions and show now form or goalscoring possibilities. Incredible fall from grace and something we need to somehow snap out of quickly. Whether it's a loss form or something more fundamental behind the scenes, Ronnie needs to get it sorted.[/quote']i thought we looked unbalanced tonight but we just don,t have a bigger enough squad to cover injuries and rest players.has for some of our signings still need time to adjust to this league .bad days at the moment but its a rerun of last season. but we are 5 th and should have thrashed man utd last monday so thats the postives at the moment.

Will you pay them double if they win in future;)

Except he is, and it's crazy to expect a 20 year old still to carry a team whose confidence is shot to pieces.

Don't understand the hype with JWP. Far too lightweight and fuk all in terms of goals and assists for a supposed dead ball specialist. Comes across as a good guy, but sadly League One/ Championship level at best

Five days away up north and 3 games away. They show no togetherness in the games.

Photos in the media of Koeman, brother, Sammy and the backroom team dining out with alcohol in view.

Schneiderlin looked ready to leave and as I said earlier, don't expect anything from his return.

Once under Atkins, once under Pochettino and now under Koeman. No coincidence!! Jack Cork has been out and missing each time we've struggled and fallen apart.

Transfer window? More of the Manés, the Longs? Sorry Ronald, but no thank you.

WE ARE DONE FOR! WE'VE BEEN FOUND OUT!!

My points on tonight:

- Tonight was a case of Koeman and co not doing their homework and most noticeably not having a game plan.

- Took the Burnley squad and thought that would 'do a job'.

- Only naming six subs is lazy in my PROFESSIONAL opinion, backroom should have been aware of any potential pull outs and called up additional personnel.

- I do not like Clough one bit but for Koeman not to shake his hand rings of a bad loser.

- Mane at one point lost possession of the ball and chose to lay down on the floor, whilst the RB dribbled past him.

- Clyne, Bertrand, JWP - off the pace (fatigue?)

- Never understood what Lloyd Isgrove offer's as a winger.

- Mayuka is up there with Peter Madsen, Kleber Chala, and Tommy Forecast

- Superb display from Fraser tonight.

All in all, I'm now very worried whats around the corner for us as a team. Saw glimpses of the dark days again tonight but losing to a League One side was never going to be smelling of roses.

January will define our season.

Okay fair enough - it is only my opinion.

I am genuinely interested in your view on this - before this game I was finding it hard to see too many positives, now I sort of can't see any.

I listened to a radio commentary. It sounded like an abysmal performance. Up to tonight performances have been good and I've enjoyed the season. Tonight I'm disappointed but I expect to see an improved performance on Saturday and I'll be right behind the team and the manager as always.

Don't forget he's just come back from a pretty lengthy lay-off. We've seen him score goals and provide assists for Saints & England youth for years. Not the finished product by any means, but give the lad a break..

That will be overlooked because he made the howler that lead to the goal.

I mentioned it in an earlier post but I'll ask it more directly here. I'm not looking to get attacked, just interested in sensible input because, like everyone else, I'm at a loss to explain the sudden decline in so many areas - including morale.

Does anyone else get the impression that Morgan has checked out, with the January window approaching?

we are just gifting goals away.

One against united, Burnley and tonight. Throw in villa away in that too

Luckily, away to villa, clyne hit a belter to grab us a point

you can tell confidence is going as the performances as getting worse.

and we are looking less and less like scoring......

ffs

No one disagree's about Long, our moneyball team desperately wanted him and overpaid for him based on what he provides.

Mane was an unknown and the first 4 games was pretty decent.

I think someone here summed it up the best as his team mates don't know what he is going to do so its impacting what runs they do etc and I would say more often than not his touch is not there.

Gutting we've lost 5 on the spin, of those only 1 was outplayed, the more upsetting thing is the lack of goals or the attempts required to score.

Tadic/Mane/Long - would love to see their mins/shots/goals ratio, they just aren't doing it the last 2 months.

We can't rely on Morgan or Vic to score and has Steve Davis/JWP prowse scored this season ?, we need a top of the diamond who runs at defences, see's runs, has close control and can score.

Obviously the established names cost a lot so who are the alternatives or upcoming 10's ?

think your right there ,mane looked a handful when he first arrived and has talent especially how he tore arsenal apart when we one 2-1 at highbury and tadic was outstanding but both seem to have a loss of form.long has always worked hard but does not score enough goals.

Some of the comments on here are just hysterical.

It was a very poor performance but the team selection was more or less forced upon Koeman. It is simply that we do not have sufficient depth to compete when we have a few out.

Nevertheless, this team should have won. Sheffield had their own problems and were there for the taking. The players let Koeman and the fans down tonight.

Calls for Koeman to go are fascile.

That was awful, was hoping for better but feared without Pelle and Tadic we would have nothing going forwards. I've got some other questions though. How many chances is Mayuka going to get (he isn't anywhere near good enough and never will be), and how few Reed. This cannot be good for Reeds confidence - in essence RK is saying that no matter how badly people play, or how many injuries I have in your position, you will not play (but I'll name you as sub). Just doesn't strike me as good management

There is a good player in there somewhere with Mane - but he needs to knuckle down, cut out the nonsense and use his pace and skill as part of a team. Schneiderlin worried me today - I think he wants out again and will not wait until May to join Poch. Agree with other posters - worst game I have seen from both Bertrand and Clyne (although Bertrand should never have started left mid, did nothing and never really recovered when pushed to LB).

Biggest point is the lack of depth. We had it last season too - first 11 is very good, beyond that is pretty poor and we can't cope if more than one of our first choice is missing.

No surprise after the summer we had, but really frustrating over the course of these games, in which we have got progressively worse and worse and starting making costly individual errors.

Unfortunately, that surely won't change against Everton. Watching them last night, and with the four in midfield that we are going to be missing, Ross Barkley is going to cause us all sorts of problems.

I thought he was hurting, along with the rest of us, at our abject performance; but I think recent results, especially tonight’s, will have done nothing to persuade him to stay – quite the opposite, sadly.

I tried to stream it - luckily for me it was so bad it wasn't worth watching but from what little I could see the final result was already in full view.

Perhaps the performance will be better Saturday but you have to bear in mind that Vic and Morgan are unavailable, alongside Gardoes, probably Davies, definitely Cork and Forster for all his saves seems to have a goal-causing error in him every game - add into the mix Mayuka, Mané and Isgrove don't appear to be having an effect on the wing and Tadic's form has fallen off dramatically and then also consider Pelle is our only goal-threat, because Long plays scores a goal every ten games.

I don't see any optimism at the moment - hopefully Reed might finally get some game time.

Everton are tough and they won't take any prisoners. We are in for a very, very tough Christmas.

People slagging off JWP ffs. His first full game back. What a bunch of absolute clueless idiots

I don't think it was purely on this game, just how he plays and contributes in our overall team. I think the commentator said it best in that he has scored 1 goal in his career for us and that was in his 2nd game, he has over 60 games for us.

The WBA goalie has more premier league goals than JWP.

Why are people so worried a out losing to Everton. That was out only chance if winning something and we blew it. You don't win anything for finishing sixth or seventh . We need to win something our trophy cabinet is a laughing stock.

Well that result and performance is incredibly depressing but the glaringly obvious truth all season is that when our best 12-13 players are fit and on top form we have a very goo side indeed. The problem is though that when you have the depth of squad we have 16-17 plus kids, it is virtually impossible to maintain peak form, fitness and avoid suspensions. Take Arsenal at the weekend, i think they had 8 or 9 players out, most of whom would get in most teams in the league and still had a strong result. We are at least 5-6 players (plus JRod!)short of being genuinely top 6, but with the start we have had and 2-3 decent signings in Jan (and JRod) we could just do it as others like West Ham will inevitably suffer with injuries and suspensions at some point.

A depressing night no doubt but just the result of squad depth, injuries and suspensions which in themselves cause dips in peak performance. The best teams are not the best teambecause they have the best 11...they are the best because they can get 11 players in top form out on the pitch every week, near as damn it.
