You could pull up examples of equal shittiness from the person at Aberdeen Uni, and some of the comments on Charlie Kirk at the time.

I find it equally vile and a serious illness on our democracy. The reporting doesn’t help often either in terms of enciting grievance on either side of the extreme margins. 

Let's be honest. If Nigel Farage was killed by some lunatic you wouldn't get anywhere near the reaction that we got for the horrible murder of Jo Cox for example. Many people would be suggesting he deserved it and the media response would be mixed at best.

I thought they just said there was no evidence to suggest it was at that stage, or words to that effect. That obviously changes when they find evidence to the contrary and then they call in the anti-terrorism lot. Seems like standard procedure to me.

I don’t know what point you are making? Some people obviously polarise opinion more than others. I don’t think ‘many’ would be suggesting it would be deserved and is this just in your mind?

If Jeremy Corbyn or Zack Polanski were horribly murdered I genuinely don't believe there would be much in the way of celebration or playing down the atrocity apart from perhaps a small minority. I am sure there would be a significant amount of that though were it to happen to someone like Farage.

I found Widdicombe to be a consistently offensive politician who went to great lengths to be really unpleasant to several sections of society.

And I'm quite happy to laugh at some of the darkest things, but some 'jokes' that are doing the rounds are not actually funny - for instance, It's Hammer Time! 😞

Hopefully it never happens but if it did, I would be extremely surprised to see a similar reaction (and tributes to mark the ten year anniversary etc.) I'm surprised that you would think that the general reaction in public, in Parliament and in the media would generally be the same.

I'm not sure what makes you think there'd be a different reaction to a brutal murder of a politician based on whether they're on the left or the right. I think this is a you issue.
