Rivals/Other Prem clubs transfer thread

West Ham not making any friends in the footballing world. If I was Bournemouth I wouldn't sell to them for less than £100m out of principle. Such disrespectful conduct.

They'll end up in the same position as us though because the players will have their heads turned by agent agitation and the lure of big money contracts. Then they go on a strop, the club doesn't want dressing room unrest, they get a big offer, say it was too good to resist and off they go !

(ie. Lovren, Lallana)

Juve in for Christian Eriksen and Nabil Bentaleb. It was in the Express so has to be true!!!

I know Kane's goals have rightly been the headlines, but Eriksen has been central to everything they have done right the past couple of years. He'd be a maaive blow to them if he leaves.

So I hope he does.

I think Eriksen is 2nd in the assist charts as well, everything goes through him. They'll struggle without him for sure, such a top player.

Be stunned if Long left. Didn't he leave Hull because his wife hated it up north and wanted to be near family in Reading? Still I guess Liverpool and the current champions are a bit different to Hull.

Liverpool to open talks with #lcfc over Ben Chilwell deal as Martin Skrtel heads for the exit #lfc

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/21/liverpool-transfer-news-jurgen-klopp-identifies-leicester-citys/

^ Potential good news if they sign a left-back that they won't want Bertrand?

Saw an article on this on the net today that claimed this Chilwell guy has already told Leicester he sees his future at Liverpool. If that's true that really puts player transfers in to perspective when you can win the league and still lose players to a traditional big club with no European football next season that finished 8th.

Why? It's not like he's getting much -indeed any- football at leicester. He's unlikely to feature in next season's CL campaign either. As such, Liverpool remains the better long-term bet.

Totally agree.

Leicester have offered him a new contract so they clearly rate him I assume all the extra games next season would afford him more game time. Yet despite winning the league they are still just Leicester and can still lose players to Liverpool. The collective wisdom on here is Champions league football was the way for a club to keep the players they wanted..

With Leicester in the CL next year there's every likelihood that he'll get game time as they look to rotate the squad a bit more.

Don't deny that. But let's be clear: he's not giving up regular or quasi-regular football or he would play in Leicester's likely short-lived European football. He's never played for Leicester. He's their brightest academy prospect (he wants more than £20k pw) but is well behind Fuchs (even Shlupp has started ahead of him at LB).

As such, references to Liverpool being out of Europe and Leicester being in the CL are largely irrelevant, other than Leicester's greater need to rotate (who says the scousers won't rotate in domestic cup competitions too). In one sense, it doesn't come close to the level of knobbishness exhibited by the likes of Chambers.

On the flip side, it's nice to see a player going to a midtable team where he's guaranteed game time instead of jumping for instant success and money for sitting on the bench of the champions...

Stoke City are preparing a bid for Norwich winger Nathan Redmond, the Sun on Sunday reports today, for a rumoured value of around £8m.

The Potters are thought to be the preferred destination for the England U21 intentional - who have previously approached the club about Redmond - and the Canaries looking to raise some funds after their relegation back to the Championship.

Stoke strengthening yet again. We haven't got a hope next season.

Those close to the situation feel it would take a bid of at least £25m to even tempt Southampton, although the situation could be complicated by the fact Long has just two years left on his contract.

Wow! £25m!! Puts the £12m over priced fee that we paid into perspective.

After this season, £12 seems a very decent price tbh. Very much looking forward to seeing what he can do next season for us (assuming he stays!).

Shane Long to Liverpool ( or possibly Leicester) all over my phone news feed this morning reports of a least 25 million ... So with Mane and Long sold for 25 million each we should have enough to cover Zlatan's wages for a season...

We don't cover Zlatan's wages. Zlatan covers ours.

(Or something).

5 mil seems a bit of a snip! Definitely was 'the next big thing' a year or two back.

Entering the final year of he contract. Badly ruptured his hamstring in early 2014, which had to be sewn, stapled and glued back together, missed the entire 14/15 season and only started appearing again for Ajax this season, a diminished version of the player he was.

£3.8m could turn out to be a bargain - the talent is still there and he's only 21. But he might be playing the rest of his career on one good leg.
