Royal Dutch Shell today has unveiled plans to move its headquarters from the Netherlands to the UK. Shell are following Unilever, whose HQ, for decades  was split between London and Rotterdam are now based in just London.

The Dutch government is 'unpleasantly surprised' by Shell HQ move to Britain 😂

Another Brexit dividend, lads.

Might have something to do with a Dutch court ruling this summer that told the company it had to reduce it's carbon emissions faster.

In the coming years the UK will be also recognised as the country that jumped into a lifeboat, not went down with the ship. I give Deutsche Bank about another 6 months before it all goes t!ts up and wipes the smirk off Frau Merkels face and bankrupts the banks in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece, while our banks watch in amusement.

You would really have thought that a section of the British media would have reported on these dramatic events.

Its probably BBC bias.

Europe's financial centres have given up hope of triggering an exodus of companies and jobs away from London in the wake of Brexit. The head of Luxembourg's government finance agency said relocations from the City are “basically over” with London’s crown as Europe’s financial services capital intact. Nicolas Mackel, chief executive of Luxembourg for Finance, said: “It's obvious London is and will remain Europe's most important financial services industry."

Must be very upsetting for the anti-capitalist losers, I mean leavers, on this site.

Do you ever proof read your twaddle ? Calling 'leavers' "anti-capitalist losers" is a bit much.

Can anyone put this lot out of their misery. It’s appalling that these are our leaders.

Our electoral system, for better or worse, produced this as the Government of choice, ( people have their own ideas as to how legitimate and 'democratic' the process is ). At the next election you are welcome to go out campaigning for change, and perhaps you will be convincing enough to sway votes in Labour's favour. People could clearly see what they were voting for with Boris, and were satisfied that given a choice between a Boris Brexit and Corbyn it was a no brainer.

As the song says - "The Christmas you get, you deserve".

Don’t get me wrong. No issue with democracy or who is voted in bit I have lived long enough to rattle through a few govts. Some stripes Ive worn and some not. I may not have liked Thatcher, Major, Cameron and May but respected them as my leader.

This guy is a reprobate and an embarrassment to the country. How anyone in their right mind think this buffoon is the cream of British leadership is in cloud cuckoo land.

According to reports the Uk's exports of Food & Drink to the EU are down 25% over same period pre Brexit.

To add balance there is a 11% increase in similar exports to non EU countries but the net balance is a reduction of 14% equivalent to a few billion pounds but I am sure that was all factored into the Brexit plan along with fact that the number of Ferry Links between the UK and Ireland have reduced whilst there has been a corresponding uplift to Ferry sailings between Ireland and France/Iberia.

Marcus Fysh, backbencher, in reply: “Frost is a hero and 100% right on this. The whole point of Brexit is radical supply side reform and moving away from the EU model, yet ministers are happy just to give hard won power put in their hands to achieve this to officials who will do the opposite.”

This was posted on the European Reform Groups Whatsapp. I've never heard this articulated before. Genuine question. What does he mean by radical supply side reform? Totally free trade? not free movement of labour presumably.

Was that in theLeave.EU "manifesto" ? Perhaps that should have been put on the side of a bus.

Edit: putting "Tax cuts for the rich in the ( vain ) hope of trickle down benefits under an economic model that doesn't work" might have been a tight squeeze, and a more difficult sell.

And replacing Brexiteer Lord Frost as our negotiator with the EU we have.....Remainer Liz Truss, a Foreign Secretary who barely knows where 'foreign' is.

And, of course, when Lord Frost was CEO of the Scotch Whisky Association from 2103 - 2016 he was not keen on the UK getting out of the EU and losing its biggest export market.

Liz Truss did indeed campaign to Remain.

Our esteemed leader Bumbling Boris had two prepared speeches ready, one to Remain one to Leave, the night before electing to follow the path he felt would best lead him to being Prime Minister of a country that he proudly reckoned had 'An Oven Ready' Brexit deal, only for many us to realise he couldn't be bothered to read the cooking instructions on the Ready Meal packet!!

Liz Truss is on an interesting political journey.  She came from a Socialist family, was chair of the Lib Dems at university and then became a Tory MP.

She started off as a Cameron "pinko" , supported Remain but is now an ardent Brexiteer. She also put her name to a right wing pamphlet advocating removal of most labour and environmental restrictions.

At the current rate, the way that she is going, she will shortly make Duckie look like a Communist.

Just as big a chameleon and bluffer as Boris. She has been cuddling into the ERG populism but Frost has left a toxic hand behind on Brexit negotiations and trade and could sink without trace and not be heard from again. Here’s hoping. Boris is because he knows that brief will keep her from (allegedly) stirring in the press further. Rishi Sunak is a bigger headache for him as a new CoE is not what’s needed currently, polls suggesting he has the best MP support whereas the swivels (or blue few) in the shires prefer Liz’s brand of Farage lite.

They’re pretty much all fucking Lib Dems. She’s taking the classic Major route, pretending she’s Euro sceptical to win the party over. The only bloke with integrity amongst pinkos was Ken Clarke, he’d have pissed the leadership had he rowed back his love of the EU, but unlike Corbyn and countless Tories, refused to ditch his life long principles.

Very true about Ken Clarke. When interviewed he is still head and shoulders above any other politician.

That's the point though - you don't really know what they believe because they wont tell you, and anyhow their beliefs are no guide to what they actually do.

I have far more respect for conviction politicians of whatever colour than populists temporarily espousing policies I happen to agree with.

Projected chaos between us and the EU from 1st January as this is the date when more complicated paperwork is required to import/export goods.

No doubt Liz Truss will sort it out when she is off the phone to Putin telling him of the dire consequences faced by Russia if Ukraine is invaded.

2022 is already looking good!!

Hypo says that it will still apply to us.

Phew, thought we were a third country now. So glad no new tariffs or barriers to trade going up coz that would be dreadful for the economy.
Liz Truss also now in charge so its all win, win, win from now on

Provided the journey to the UK took place before Dec 28th then UK nationals resident in the EU will be allowed to transit France to return home to their EU country of residence. Of course, Brexit is totally to blame for CoViD restrictions imposed by European Governments.

Benefits of Brexit??? There are plenty.... black passports, the crown on beer glasses and er er er.

Who really wants prosperity and freedom to travel, work and study abroad when you can drink from a glass with a crown stamped on it???
