Saints 'B' Team

If there are any statistitions out there, I'd be interested to know how many changes per game we make to the B Team starting 11 (on average). My impression is that there are only a handful of regular starters (if that) which can't be helping with team gelling and continuity

Watched the whole game today and thought we were thoroughly disappointing but at least for once we were able to watch the game live, even though the coverage was all about Derby. No one is asking for this, and feel free to ignore, but here are my ratings/notes on the game:

Lewis - 6 - Couldn’t really do much about any of the goals. Looked ok on the ball, if we are not using Forster for the B team, Lewis definitely seems to be our best option between the sticks.

Kpohomouh - 5 - Looked like men against boys at the back. Skinned a few times and looks a long way away from the first team. Not a great performance.

Tchaptchet - 4 - Red Card - Sent off for nudging over a player running in on goal. It was a soft foul, but, he was the last man and had to go.

Agbontohoma - 5 - Another disappointing defensive performance really. Caught out a few times positionally.

Ferry - 6 - This was the first time I’ve seen him live playing LB instead of LW. Still a great runner going forward. Got to the byline a few times and had a good free kick tipped over. Still work to do defensively.

Jankewitz - 5 - Red Card - Had some really neat touches in midfield and looked very neat alongside Slattery. Made a poor decision when on a yellow card, especially as we were already down to 10.

Slattery (C) - 8 - Goal - Looked our standout performer. Early booking but bossed the midfield. Excellent goal direct from a free kick and also looked strong in the tackle. Would love to see him get back amongst the first team this season.

Watts - 7 - Looked pretty decent on the ball. Moved to right back following Tchaptchet Red and had an excellent run that ended up being tripped on the edge of the derby box that lead to Ferry having a shot tipped over the bar

Olaigbe - 5 - Sloppy on the ball and wasted some good opportunities.

Johnson - 6 - Picked up the ball in some promising positions but looked a little less match sharp than the rest of the team l, no surprise coming back from a loan so probably at a different stage to the rest

Mitchell - 5 - Produced no real threat in the box and kept dropping wide to pick up the ball, leaving the box completely empty when we were on the attack. Desperately missed N’lundulu or Obafemi.

Robise, Defise, Smales-Braithwaite came on but all after we were down to 10 men and struggled to make an impact unsurprisingly but did nothing particularly wrong.

Who the f*** is Dave Horseman and how did he end up in charge of the "B Team". With high hopes around the likes of Jankewitz, Mitchell, Tchaptchet and Robise, the results of his team are a bit embarassing

Former Bristol City and Watford Academy Coach. Brought in last year by Ross Wilson as assistant to Radhi Jaidi, took over the u23s when Radhi went on his sabbatical.

Think it’s fair to say that Horseman hasn’t exactly got these guys going particularly well, but he is working with a very young squad. Would like to see Slattery back amongst the first team picture, and think Obafemi needs some games (although guess he was banned)? Is it possible for us to get relegated from this division? Looks quite likely at the mo...

Just beat Bournemouth in a friendly.

# Trousers still banging on about Salisu klaxon #

One would have thought a B Team friendly would have been the ideal opportunity to give a "nearly ready for 1st team squad inclusion" Salisu a 30 minute run out...?

Nothing wrong with banging that klaxon. Very odd situation. If he's fit enough to play, and has clearance to do so, there is no logical reason for him not to have a run out in a fixture like this.

What on Earth is going on this weekend? Even the B Team are starting to click! :)

p.s. slightly ponderous as to why Vokins wasn't parachuted into the left back position yesterday, given it seems he's 100% fit. Ralph saw it as a bigger risk than playing Stephens out of position I guess.
