I assume this could be a Joe Shields inspired move then if he’s still part of Chelsea (as owners of Strasbourg). Edozie always seemed to fall within the ‘all fart and no shit’ category for me so pleased to see him go. But hope we have a healthy sell on % should he ever discover an end product. I've been to Strasbourg a few times. Lovely city. And it sits in the Alsace region, which has really good white wines: riesling, gewürztraminer, pinot gris, sylvaner. So, good move on Edozie's part! 1
James Posted yesterday at 21:15 Posted yesterday at 21:15 Don’t like the deal for Ramsdale. Either sell him or keep him. £4m doesn’t give us anything for replacement. Bazunu as number 1 is the stuff of nightmares, can see the howler v Pompey and the “Agent Bazunu” tweets already. 6 1

Anyway, £4m sounds like one year of repayments of the fee we paid, so just getting him off the books really ? Which was as good as it was going to get I suppose. Doesn't seem that good a deal to me, huge lack of quality throughout the team and lack of balance, IF we end up with Baz back in I'd say that's the end of automatic promotion hopes 1
Badger Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Not impressed by £4m loan fee. Seems a pittance given Newcastle’s wealth, even allowing for them paying his wages. 2

At least last time we actually signed a few decent players, this year we’re on the way to stripping out all the quality and have signed a couple of back ups from the bargain bin. 1 5

Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Given how much we have pulled in from the sales of Tall Paul, Sulemana, Edozie & Bednarek plus the loan fee we will get for Ramsdale not to mention the saving on wages getting all those (and KWP) off the books, surely we are in a pretty damn healthy financial position now? It was alleged we weren't really in a bad financial situation before all of these sales and only really needed to reduce the squad size because we had too many players from a coaching and who can be involved in the matchday squad perspective. If this is the case then I would like to propose we don't fuck about with our prized Fernandes asset. Say we won't take less than £60m for him now and if nobody is willing to pay that then he remains with us. Villa did it with Grealish a number of years ago and he stayed and played in the Championship. Vardy (albeit he was older) did it with Leicester a couple of years ago when I'm sure he could have moved to a Prem team for a last hurrah rather than stay in the Championship. Show some balls Saints. if we don't desperately need the money then hold out for a ridiculous fee. If Brighton can buy players for peanuts and regularly sell them for £50m+ a year later then why can't we do it with our star asset? He has 4 years left on his contract and seems like a decent lad. Tell him we will sell him next summer if we don't get promoted or if we do get promoted and his stock rises further, we will sell him for what we deem an acceptable amount then. Liverpool have just paid £80m odd for a player who has just had one decent season in the German league. Prior to that, as a striker he scored 4 goals in 15 appearances in 2023-2024 and 3 goals in 25 in the 2022-2023 season. Hardly pulling up trees on the goalscoring front in previous seasons. Young talent is now being sold for big money. £40m seems a bit meh for someone with as much potential as Fernandes who has proven he can cut it in the top league. 13

Bump. 2

We’ve got a young and inexperienced manager and a weaker team that’s low on confidence given how bad last season was. We’ve got until September but we know it doesn’t take long for heads to go down amongst this group. 2

Rebel Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Anyone else think we are selling Edozie because we can't sell Fraser or Bereton-Diaz and we need the money - or am I just being very cynical?
LGTL Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago It’s a shit deal. £4million, what’s the fucking point? Doesn’t generate anything to get in a decent replacement and we’ll be stuck with Bazunu playing against Pompey. It’s a nightmare scenario. 4

The last time I looked they were still working although they have installed a pair of modern full colour ones in the corners. You're right. It is a lovely city. 2

EBS1980 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Think Ramsdale loan needs to be put into context, wages being covered in full and £4M for one year. I’m not sure what people really expected from a loan deal?! I’m happy with that. i just hope given we knew the likelihood of Ramsdale leaving that we know what keeper we want to bring in (be it a number 1 or 3) and push that deal through quickly now. 6

Personally I would go for a new number one with the aim of getting us promoted, who would then be number two next season if Ramsdale returned, Macca is out of contract next year so we would be back to 3keepers again 3
Smirking_Saint Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago People losing their minds over a loan we basically all knew was coming Ramsdale had an agreement that he could go if we were relegated, not sure any of the promoted teams interested him much, but we can’t deny him a move to Newcastle 4m fee with wages covered is a decent deal, if they buy him at the end of the year great… if they don’t we have a PL keeper returning 6

saintant Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Ryan is very vocal - not surprising being an Aussie. There's a video of him during lock down playing for Arsenal at Villa Park when on loan from Brighton - there's a mic picking up all his shouts, commands etc and he certainly helps his defenders which is something we've not had for a while. He'd probably put a few well aimed rockets up some arses where necessary. Seems a decent shot stopper with loads of experience so might be worth a shout. 2
