Based on doing absolutely bugger all for five different managers, even with a season in the Championship when Smallbone looked competent? Give it up, he’s the most obviously useless of the lot.

I get good vibes that still will not tolerate under performing players... Sullemana is a prime example of ability not reaching it's performance potential, he has the ability but not the work ethic or footballing brain.... Maybe he can unleash full potential .....That said sullemana has been crap under so many different managers now so not looking likely!

What makes it a 'pointless gamble'? He has managed in the 5th best league in Europe for the past 3 seasons and we will be in a lower quality league.

It isn't a case of 'this time' for the person picking the manager, as this is Johannes Spors first Saints manager pick.

Good luck Will and welcome to the madhouse that is Southampton FC. If he can bring some calm and order to the situation he'll be a breath of fresh air. As fans we want to restore our pride in our club and get back to being able to get excited at every upcoming fixture. The least we expect is a squad that is at the peak of physical fitness come the start of the season. He seems to have some positive ideas as to how players should be prepared for games and claims to be unafraid to change things during matches if necessary. Lots to be positive about but the proof will be in the pudding so let's see how the team shapes up. Have a feeling Will is going to be good for us.

I wasn’t even taking the piss, just making a crap joke. If anything I agree with MLG’s sentiment, I don’t see moving from ligue 1 to Championship as a step down. Or up even.

He has been a manager in a major European league for 3 years and in backroom staff of professional teams for 10+ years including as an assistant. A league that is ranked higher than the Championship.

PSG being better than the rest doesn't make the rest of the league worse than the Championship. 

Marseille, Monaco, Lyon, Lille, Nice, Lens etc are all bigger than most Championship clubs.
