SNSUN Posted August 7 Posted August 7 13 hours ago, S-Clarke said: Things starting to hot up now, the three relegated sides have been somewhat stable squad wise up to this point. We've got Dibling and Fernandes being circled. Ipswich now have Davis, Hutchinson circled. Leicester have Mads, Ndidi and such being circled. I think they've agreed a fee with someone for Nididi actually. It'll be interesting to see how all 3 look in September as we'll all look fairly different IMO. I'd say Ipswich are operating from a position of strength as they already had a solid team, whereas we need to rotate quite a bit of ours out. Ndidi had a relegation release clause of 9 million, he's about to join Besiktas. With their Goalkeeper gone too they could lose a few more yet. We might lose Dibling, Fernandes and possibly THB still but we'd still be in a pretty strong position IMO both in terms of players we have and the ability to spend money on new players when we can. (And then then there's loans). If Ipswich also get raided then even better for us.

I'm hoping that we will be able to buy some players as well but we are going to get a points deduction but don't know how big it will be or when we will receive it. It could be a crazy season !!!
Pamplemousse Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Everyone buckle up, the circus rolls in today! Looking forward to Brum v Ipswich. This is where we'll see if Birmingham really are promotion contenders.

I'm still struggling to get onboard with the opinion that we have a strong squad even after losing our 'best' players. Remember we've already lost key first team players RAMSDALE, WALKER-PETERS (both contenders for player of the season) and our league top scorer ONUACHO. We have also cashed in on KAMALDEEN SULEMANA and BEDNAREK to champions league Atalanta & Porto , if we then lose Dibling and Fernandes that really is taking one of the worst top flight squads of all time, removing any quality that was in it, what remains hardly fills me with confidence. 1

Onuachu, Bednarek and Sulemana = quality? Not sure on that one. If you agree they aren't quality, why reference them leaving in your post? Our performance last season was piss poor. I'm happy to have the squad dismantled. We need a full mentality switch. 2

Definition of quality I guess is down to opinion, but factually Onuacho scored more goals in the Premier league than any of our other forwards, so what does it say about them? I'd say Sulemana and Bednarek moving to Atalanta and Porto shows they have qualities deemed attractive to clubs at a higher level than us and those clubs were prepared to pay reasonable transfer fees for them, as will Dibling and Fernandes. The lack of interest in the rest of our squad is a good indication of how poor most of them are, my point being I don't see how others are now predicting them to get automatic promotion Edited August 8 by Football Special

washsaint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 So happy to be back in the Championship. More enjoyment in 1 game (obviously cos we won) than the whole of last season. Terrible ref (but no VAR thank god!), dodgy team selection but 90 + 6 minutes of sheer entertainment. Massive work for Saints to do but we should be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. Best league in the world this one - I hate the Prem 6
Gloucester Saint Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Commentator in the Oxford v Filth game says ‘you can hear that bell in the away end’. So the skates sat around him both get deafened and nausea from the pungent stink in these temperatures of BO and stale Carling. Almost feel sorry for them..almost. Oxford winger we are interested in hasn’t featured much so far but quality is dreadful overall from both sides.

Like a derelict football stadium's urinals on a hot summer's evening in a sold out game. 2
V.Johnathan.Wilson Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Okay so I think the refereeing is just proper incompetent, watching this derby vs stoke game, the stoke defender tries to body check the derby attacker behind him without playing the ball possibly injures him in the process and gets awarded a freekick somehow.

I think they will find it incredibly difficult to repeat the trick without a squad overhaul. we won’t really know how anyone stands until the window closes particularly for the relegated teams as there are simply too many ifs and maybes around squads. 1

bpsaint Posted Thursday at 16:00 Posted Thursday at 16:00 Has anyone heard anything regarding Leicester and their punishment for overspending? Last I heard was they’d made it harder for Leicester to escape a penalty as they did before via the loophole of not being in the particular league the offence occurred due to relegation/promotion.

Nothing will happen, as per last year. Count me surprised if it does. They'll sell some players this window for big money, then go and buy some good players or bring some on loan, and you'll hear nothing more about it. Until next summer, when the PSR reports come out that they breached it 'this season', and then rinse and repeat basically. 3

Coastal Posted Thursday at 21:20 Posted Thursday at 21:20 An interesting season awaits. For me we need at minimum 3-4 in the door to feel comfortable in the promotion hunt.

They’re regulatory and operationally struggling financially I don’t think they’ll be a huge threat, and im comfortable that this opinion could bite me on the ass They’re also inline for 9 points minimum I think, though it’s mad that a deduction hasn’t been expedited, we might not hear until January as thats when accounts are assessed by the leagues

Probably the Kassam or whatever it’s called these days. A four sided ground will feel so much better. That will be two three-sided grounds visited this season with Wrexham and the gap where their new Kop stand will go next season/building work. The North Stand has been allowed to re-open at Hillsborough so that’s back to four again. Edited 15 hours ago by Gloucester Saint
