OldNick Posted yesterday at 09:26 Posted yesterday at 09:26 (edited) It is a massive day for Baz, if he makes a mistake he will never shake off the 'agent' tag and the fans wont forgive him. This adds to the massive pressure he will be under. I wonder if it would be prudent to play AM Edited yesterday at 09:26 by OldNick 9

Ted Bates Statue Posted yesterday at 09:58 Posted yesterday at 09:58 Quote ‘I’m not on the internet, but the number of people that had sent me his contact details was staggering. So I rang the chap up and, genuinely, left a really nice message, asking for the wig’s return. ‘He texted me back saying it wasn’t him and he needed to talk to someone about it - and the next day I received a special delivery. It’s the same state it was, still dirty and smelly, which reminds me, I must wash it. That is so Pompey... #NotTheOnion Interested to note that he actually said 'texted' in the grammatically correct past tense, so my respect for him has increased marginally. 2

Don't play - WS isn't showing faith in GB to perform under intense pressure. Play (and it goes wrong) - GB goes to bits and everyone says he should have played Macca. I guess AM did play in the away game at Fratton Park, so he has some experience at least of the kind of game it is. 4

hypochondriac Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago More than anyone, if Bazunu fucks up then the fans won't forget it. I agree, McCarthy in may be smarter. 6
saintant Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago My guess at line up; Baz Mads Stephens THB Manning Charles Downes Fellows Azaz Fraser Archer Plenty of good options on the bench to help in any situations that arise during the game and I'm expecting Will to make full use of his subs to impact things. 3-1 Saints. 2

I think you're right, that's the team that will start. Personally I'd swap Baz for Macca as suggested above but I don't think we will. That's a strong line-up though, and then we have the options to unleash J-Rob, Scienza, Matsuki, Jander, Roscoe off the bench as required. If we concentrate at the back and don't do anything silly then that should be more than enough to do them at home. 3

Lighthouse Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Bazunu will not be dropped, primarily because he’s a far better keeper than McCarthy (Still being the fifth consecutive manager to believe this) and has done nothing wrong this season. Our coaches and managers are not playing ‘the Bazunu game’ like a lot of people on the internet seem to. 3

I wonder if it would be prudent to play AM Would be an error to drop Baz - doing so would damage him regardless in terms of his own confidence and trust from the fans. Equally, if you bring in Macca and he then has a bad game, we will be playing the season with 2 damaged keepers. We don't then have another keeper and so we would be undermining the season until Jan on the keeper front. The only thing for it is to put faith in Baz and leave him to it - one thing i will say about him is that he's not a keeper with a weak mentality or likely to fold under the pressure - we'll get the same baz as always, and he may even step up. Personally i would be far more worried about some of the defenders in front of him shitting the bed, or potentially Downes doing something stupid or getting sent off. If Baz does have a bad game then it happens, but at least Macca is then untarnished for the rest of the season. Edited 21 hours ago by Saint86 1

I would go with that. The other new players won't start as too risky. One thing in our favour is if we have actually trained to play in a different way as Pompey will look at footage of our defending and expect 3 points. Let's hope Still and the players have a new game plan. Saints 3-1 based on Pompey fans expecting to win and Saints surprising them with solid defending!!

Would be great to get back to 4 at the back. No Jelert at left back? For all of the 2 free kicks, Manning still feels like he's going to leave a massive gaping space several times in any game. Will be interesting to see how, if at all, Aribo and Edozie might be involved now it looks like transfers are off.

ant Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago It's been lovely sitting on the last derby being 4 goals in our favour, and I'd give a fair amount for us to repeat the feat. But I shan't be greedy. Win. At all costs. By any margin. 1
stfrancisofbenali Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago It's going to be torrential rain and blowing a hoolie on Sunday which can only play into their hands as they lump it up to Bishop. I think the game will be decided on mistakes rather than brilliance and the chances of Jack getting an early yellow and then a second booking are pretty high.

Robinson will start on the bench as he's played a lot of football in the last two weeks. Downes needs to keep his cool and be disciplined or could be a liability on an early yellow.

Weirdly have a good feeling about Jack with this one (and I'm no big fan of his). If he can keep a lid on it, he'll be an asset. He gets it. 6
