Just because Sport Republic waste a lot of money doesn't make it a good squad. Damion Downs cost more than most players in the Championship. Unfortunately, the manager doesn't decide who they sign.

I chose my words carefully and used 'most expensive' not 'good'....

Last night took him to a 50% win percentage, which means Eckert has the best record of any of the 14 Saints' managers since Nigel Adkins:

You're wasting your time posting that.  Our forum experts have made up their minds he's useless (he absolutely is not).

This team/club will not be a quick fix and it would be an absolute disaster if we went up this season.

It would only be a disaster because of SR and their horrendous recruitment.

Look at Sunderland. They went up with a decent Championship squad but nothing more. They showed ambition and signed players who were suited to the Premier League, the opposite of us.

More clever-bollockery from our clever-bollocks manager appointed by our clever-bollocks board who appointed him.

Absolute shite.  Still, only a few months to go before this shit is over.  Best £700 I’ve ever spent!

Never should have been given the job in the first place. Got to give him credit for picking the starting line up nobody else would have - Matsuki and Bree both had great games. But he tried to be too clever with the subs. We'd just scored and created a breakaway chance when he decides to make a double change, leaving on a player who is clearly struggling, then is forced to sub him off anyway and decides to also make another one. Four subs in the 10 minutes after we scored and seized the initiative of the game, all the wind went out of our sails.

Definitely time to go but I guess it would change nothing this season....

Certainly don't want him here next season though! He probably will be knowing SR!

Yeah, he played well. Fellows came on for him and I literally cannot recall a single thing he did in the game.

Because Scienza went off straight away and they shifted their attention to him.

Matsuki is pretty poor IMO. Yeah, tidy on the ball and had some nice flicks, but gives it away far too often and incredibly light weight

Despite you thinking that he affected the game positively much more than any of the subs that came on.

Gives away needless fouls in dangerous areas. Hopefully after today he goes back to being a squad player. Shouldn't be starting.

He actually had a strong subs bench today but used them badly.

Hopefully he's stumbled upon a solid Back 4 being our best option. Bree straight in was a gamble but worked well. Matsuki was ok. Don't know is Scienza was struggling when the first subs were made but we lost the initiative with the subs.

I'm betting Tonda will be with us at the start of next season, so let's hope he stumbles across a few more winning formulas because he's learning on the job.

Leo going off vacant forced his hand a bit to make the subs when he side as you can only have 3 substitute windows

So what different changes would you have made?

Can't speak for OASAAS, but I'd have taken the bench and nailed either side of it to the posts. It's our only chance of an away clean sheet. The players can just stand on the touchline for being less effective than furniture 🙂

Edit: I was fine with the choice of  subs. Some work needs to done on how we play when they are on.

With the subs, I would have spread them out for a start. Four changes in 10 minutes affected our flow. And I would like to have seen Fellows and Scienza on together, though appreciate Scienza got an injury so had to go off when he did.

He did have fellows & Scienza on together, but one got injured. Unless you’d have left an injured player on, you would have to have made that change. So you couldn’t “spread out” those 2 substitution windows.

When would you have brought Charles on then, he was our most effective sub, would you have brought him on with Fellows, before him, or after?

And we turned Carrick down for TE……not saying he’s Alf Ramsey but looking like just another in a long line of poor decisions

The list is endless
