LaptopSaint Posted Monday at 20:20 Posted Monday at 20:20 It says something when the transfer window thread isn’t in the top twenty threads on the list in the middle of the transfer window. The only reason I’m posting is to boost it a bit. And can we have a big centre forward please.

Still want a centre forward.

goodymatt Posted Monday at 23:00 Posted Monday at 23:00 Looks like Damion Downs is deciding between Hamburg and Werder Bremen. Expect it to be a loan. Wonder if Peretz deal has any influence here and if Downs goes, will we replace? 1

Guess we will find out in the second half of this season how he does in the Bundesliga, assuming he plays. The Wrexham and Northampton sitters were red flags, outside of the Espanyol friendly he didn’t look competent. He did a Utilita special on YouTube recently with Bragg and Matsuki and only looked good at pens. Edited yesterday at 08:31 by goodymatt 1

Made a big song and dance about wanting to be on the south coast to be close to family etc when joining but it has been a few years and might be looking for one last payday or an experience down under etc. I'm actually surprised at how ineffective he has been this season, shows what difference a year makes, he was decent for us in the championship last time. Signed him at the right time back then but as you say, should have thanked him for his contribution and signed better for the PL season. 2

I think we got the last usable season out of Fraser at a high level, it was clear he was in decline towards the end of that season for me. When you look at that window, signing him wasn't a surprise given that we also added Charlie Taylor, BBD, Wood to the mix - what a window for a PL side! Edited yesterday at 09:12 by S-Clarke 3 1 3

Fitzhugh Fella Posted yesterday at 10:03 Posted yesterday at 10:03 Its interesting that Downs is still obviously thought highly off in Germany. I just wonder if the blame lies with our coaches/tactics/managers all of which have combined to make him look like a fish out of water (which he has). Something is not adding up 12

AlexLaw76 Posted yesterday at 10:20 Posted yesterday at 10:20 If man can land on the moon, there remain hope that Downs will come good. his xG is decent when you take into account a young lag, applying his trade in a far right racist country, and had to deal with false accusation of hit and run. take that into account, he should be about a goal every other game 2

Maybe we are using chatgpt for our transfer business? 🟢 Potentially a very useful pro striker: He has physical traits, a scoring history in Germany, and international experience — all positives for growth. 🔴 Needs time and right environment: The transition to English football has been tough, and his current form doesn’t yet reflect his underlying potential. ⚖️ Long-term outlook: If he adapts, finds scoring form and continues developing, he could become a strong Championship/second-tier forward or even a top-division contributor. If not, he may plateau as a squad player or need a strategic loan to regain confidence and form.

Something is not adding up A player doesn't go from looking decent to looking like he's never kicked a ball in his life just because of poor coaching. But I agree something doesn't add up because his performances for us have been so laughably terrible, and there's no way he could possibly have been that bad when we scouted him. 3
Lord Duckhunter Posted yesterday at 12:13 Posted yesterday at 12:13 It’s fucking weird, you’ve got Tall Paul banging them in, Bree doing ok in this league. Is it shite coaching or the club being wedded to having certain type of players and those 2 not fitting the mould. It’s fucking crazy. Bree can play wing back, full back and even centre half & TP is something completely different to bring off the bench. When we’ve kept Archer & Manning, it doesn’t make sense. 6

The Turkish league is pretty naff though, we only ever saw Tall Paul for us in the PL and the difference in level between PL and the Turkish SuperLiga is enormous. He would have probably scored some goals in this league though, almost certainly I'd say - but he was always going to leave and was desperate to go back to Turkey. The PL experience (multiple times) harmed any future he'd ever have here. 1

Not really the same comparison is it. Onuachu is a good level striker with many years of proven goal scoring in top divisions in a number of countries now. People might turn their nose up at the Turkish league but take a look at the squads for the big Istanbul clubs. Bree also has previously shown to be a good player for the Champ. Damion fucking Downes had played a session in the second division of Germany and got like 9 goals? The guy is an absolute waste of space and like so many only made it this far probably because of his build and physicality. We absolutely 100% need to get a striker in. Look what getting Bamford has done for Sheffield United. Now above us! It needs to be someone with a proven track record in a top league in Europe. Failing that, I would take a punt on Gabbidini. Ok he’s old now but the guy is a poacher and we actually create a fair few chances for a player like him. The issue is we have Archer trying to get on the end of them at the moment.
