The skip button was designed for the following: Talking Heads Foo Fighters Red Hot Chilli Peppers The Clash Roxy Music Nick Cave Tom Waits Mumford and Son Obviously all subjective, no justifications needed but I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than hear "Road to nowhere" again.
badgerx16 Posted Thursday at 14:47 Posted Thursday at 14:47 The one YOUTUBE keeps putting in my "suggestions" is The Last Dinner Party.
sadoldgit Posted Thursday at 14:55 Posted Thursday at 14:55 (edited) I could never warm to Ferry’s voice so agree with that choice. I also thought that The Clash were highly overrated, but then I didn’t care for the whole Punk/New Wave thing as there was nothing new about it . It was all derivative and they all stole from the bands that they slagged off as being dinosaurs. I’ll give The Stranglers a pass though because although they ripped off The Doors they had a great sound. Apart from a couple of albums I struggle with Radiohead. The same with Pink Floyd. Also struggled with all of the poodle haired American rock bands that were everywhere in the 8O’s. Oh, and E.L.O. will forever grind my gears. Next Beatles my arse. And Blur. Criminal to have the Clash in that list although so often you only here London Calling, Rock the Casbah or Should I Stay or Should I go played so would understand that more. Nick Cave - sometimes brilliant often durgy

Talented, diverse, great characters, yep, and although some songs are amazing, I can't listen to an album without getting bored or irritated by weird sounds. Just not for me.

Dark Side of the Moon passed me by, probably because of the massive hype back in 1973, and I never really bothered with it after that. With Radiohead I loved The Bends and OK Computer but, for me, they lost the plot after that and I lost interest in them. It would be a very boring world if we all liked the same thing, eh? sadoldgit Posted Thursday at 17:46 Posted Thursday at 17:46 What is scary is that they used to be pushing the boundaries of rock music. That was now well over 50 years ago.

Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are one of the best rhythm sections in rock. I was lucky enough to catch the Rumours tour and have seen them a few times since and they always put on a good show. Sadly just a bit too young to see the Peter Green FM though. 1

Hardly surprising perhaps that I can't stand Oasis, given the Beatles were apparently influential on Oasis. My beef, rightly or wrongly, was Oasis got the global recognition and success that the Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets should have had. Especially the latter, criminally underrated. It is probably the success of both Oasis and The Beatles that grates me. Anyone that has heard any Puressence, tell me that Oasis were a patch on them. I had a free ticket to watch Oasis in Manchester recently, Airbnb included. No thanks. I wouldn't cross the road to see them. 1

Turkish Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) dont know about should like but dont but ones i am surprised are not more popular at Courteneers and Blossoms. Courteneers i've seen play in Manchester in front of 50,000 people but seem to still be relatively unknown south of Birmingham, amount of times i've spoken to people down south and mentioned them to the reply of "who are they?" Blossoms are similar, brilliant band, done some absolutely belting songs should be much bigger than they are. Edited 1 hour ago by Turkish

Just because it was less mainstream than their earlier stuff doesn't mean they 'lost the plot'. 1

Falcon is one of the best debut albums from an indie band. St Jude is arguably better. They've also done one of the best Christmas songs that nobody knows. Superb live room. They should be big. As decent as Blossoms are, they have gone too poppy for my taste.

He did say "for me" - clearly his opinion. Music is so ridiculously subjective. I want to love the Beatles but I think they're shit. Ditto Queen, Oasis, and others. I adore Joy Division, but my missus would prefer to leave the house when I pop Closer on the turntable than hear it. The only facts when it comes to music is commercial success - everything else is opinion.
