Given the subs we have available, and assuming he makes them, we will surely get better as the games goes on?

Don't you remember the effect of Tonda halftime talks and his eventual substitutions?

Anyone think we should give Scienza more licence to roam the pitch rather than being stuck out on one wing? Too easy to snuff him out when in a fixed position, surely?

Then when they win the ball, and they are, Wellington will turn into Manning when being doubled upon

Great to have Bree back. Matsuki two stunning back flicks. Hoping Stewart can stand up for half an hour at the end... And would like to see Fellows in action.

We can do this!

We've had easily the 2 best chances, but not much beyond those.

Our back 4 look more solid, and organised enough, but Pompey have had more efforts on our goal, and it only takes the one error.

As the half went on, the balls to AA became from further and further away from him. When it went high, we looked by design to be trying to pick up the second ball. When low, we asked a lot from him, and there was an absence of support for him up there.

We seem, as usual, happy to absorb pressure, without dominating. Fine, if one of the 2 chances goes in. Frustrating when you need to be creating more. A lot of players quite quiet, particularly Scienza.

Hoping for more in the second half, and we know the bench will change our style.

He's had zero service because Eckert has gone too negative.

We clearly lost the midfield battle in that half and they won most duels and picked up the majority of second balls. Matsuki a complete waste of space - nearly every pass went to a blue shirt. Scienza has had zero service and we are giving them too much respect with this line up. AA should have had two goals from our only two bits of decent football proving that is we play we can open them up. Get Stewart and Fellows on asap. Keeper has done well and come out aggressively for some crosses.

Wouldn’t mind us stopping a few more crosses at source. But they they’re just hoping to put it in the mix and wait for our fuck ups. Need Stewart asap and start playing in their half a bit

He played Armstrong in, but otherwise another non-involved display from Azaz.   Peretz is looking an upgrade on Bazunu.  Two great opportunities for Armstrong; Matsuki lively; Wellington and THB up for the battle, but where’s Leo?

Hard for Azaz to get involved when the ball is being lumped and bounced around everywhere. He certainly hasn’t shied away from it, can’t fault his effort.

But its been rare

Nothing like as rare as a Pompey pass along the ground . They play real League 2 hoof ball.

Can someone summarise the first half for me?

Currently working.

They have had more of the ball...it is an aerial game. We have defended pretty well in the main, and the two best chances have fallen to us

What game are you watching 🙂 He's been hopeless.

A bit of a headless chicken but some nice touches

May aswell stick a cone up front, would make more of an effort than AA

He might not be playing amazingly, but you cannot accuse him of not putting in the effort.

Better half than thought it would be a couple of weeks ago.

transition from defence to attack is the breaking point, and even when attack has the ball the midfield support is not there when we lose it… so missing winning that second ball.

Need to calm it down and make them work harder for it

Lost the midfield battle, can’t string passes together. The 2 decent moves we came up with resulted in golden chances for Arma and he fucked them up. Pompey just smashing it into our box and picking up the pieces.

You could argue 3 of our best players are on the bench. Madness to not start them in the biggest game of the season

Unless it works.

A good thing about both Bree and Wellington is they're going to put the player trying to cross the ball under pressure.

Scienza needs to pick it up, he's a passenger so far.

What is he supposed to do? He gets the ball and he’s got 2 in his face every time.

Our zero experience coaching staff are too thick to see we need Fellows on the other side

Which we haven’t had on both sides for ages. Welington provided it Weds night.
