Daily Mail:

Middlesbrough have caught what is thought to be a Southampton first-team analyst allegedly recording their training session from a bush, in a sensational repeat of the Marcelo Bielsa ‘spygate’ furore.

Daily Mail Sport can reveal that an individual was spotted and approached by club staff on Thursday morning at Boro’s Rockliffe Park training centre, 48 hours before Kim Hellberg’s side host Tonda Eckert's Saints in the Championship play-off semi-final first leg.

It is claimed the male deleted video and pictures from his mobile phone and refused to identify himself. He then left the site of the training ground and made his way into the nearby Rockliffe Hall Hotel, owned by Boro chairman Steve Gibson, before changing clothes in a toilet and leaving the area. It is understood Boro have contacted the EFL, given spying on opposition training would breach the League’s rules.

We are aware of the individual allegedly involved and his public profile pages identify him as a current employee of Southampton.

Could we be expelled from the competition?

Leeds got a £200k fine in 2019 for the same behaviour before their playoff semi-final and a formal warning to not do it again

Spy, spy, wherever we may be.

We are the famous Southampton FC.

And we've got some mush, hiding in your trees.

And we'll spy our way to Wembley.

They cannae prove it were us

If the bloke is on our payroll, then we'll have to say he just went there as an amateur twitcher , entirely of his own accord. Teeside being well known for the lesser spotted species. He's been hooked since seeing the murmerations at Doncaster.

I'm going to set up a social media profile saying I work for Middlesbrough, then head to Staplewood in a Middlesbrough Polo shirt, take a few photos of us training, then make sure I get caught.

Job done. Even Stephens. Both expelled from the competition, Easy ride for Hull or Millwall.

I think following Leeds in 2019 you can get a points deduction for it now. We'd need to get a 10+ point deduction for us to land outside of the play-offs. Would be a bit over the top

If true, then pretty poor, and a bit of a knobhead thing to do.

Agreed. Will just fire them up even more too so don't think there's a huge benefit to us doing it.

No chance the EFL will mess about with the play offs now.

But enough to finish 6th which means we're hosting Millwall tomorrow night

No Leeds got 200k fine

Wasn't explicitly against the rules then, think a rule was added after that.

No chance we'll get expelled or anything that drastic but reckon we'll get a bigger punishment than Leeds.

I said the team we needed to avoid in the play offs is Middlesbrough. This rubber stamps it.

dirty tricks to unsettle us

Only people unsettled would be the fans and any other sops that are daft enough to believe it.

Tonda will have the boys in check. The 'outside noise' won't be anywhere near the dressing room radar.

This is the only "first team analyst" listed on the OS...

Albie used to work at Oak Tree Garden Centre too so would be familiar with being in and around bushes and trees. The evidence is looking bad for us

It's got to be bollocks, surely. Such a tinpot thing. Absolutely well outside of our playbook.

It’s utter bollox. How do they know he was Recording anything and then saw him deleting the files. Would have to be mighty close to him to confirm that. Surely they would have taken a photo to prove it.  Then after the altercation they went searching online For a pic to confirm it was a saints employee. All a bit far fetched to me.

He also used to be a Nurse. Indeed it was him that trimmed my bush shortly before my Penis extension operation.

I can't believe we'd be so stupid to risk this, but then again it is Sport Republic who have a track record of making idiotic decisions

Not even they surely ….. and why would they need to watch them train when everything you need to know about Middlesbrough will already be on a Rasmus inspired spreadsheet

When did this “on the grass” pony come from. FFS, what’s wrong with “back in training”. I’ve noticed it creeping into the game, fucking hipster pony.

This is top notch work

I was just looking, and somehow you found me

i tried to hide from your guards

In The Cloud above me, our spy in a tree

Has copied all your secrets to our website.

Nobody does it better

makes me feel sad for the rest

nobody does it half as good as you

Tonda you’re the best.

If you're ever up in Middlesboro

And you wanna look around

Don't go hiding in no bushes

Cos you'll probably get found

Take a trip on the heli

Take a flight through the air

And if you take some binoculars

You can see who's playing there

On the SFC chopper

It doesn't go very fast

It wasn't built for comfort

It was built to grass

Just need a couple of hundred saints fans to dress up as Middlesbrough staff and hang around outside staplewood tomorrow. That would be hilarious 🤣

I don’t believe for one second it was a club sponsored mission. Probably a bit of an over enthusiastic supporter probably, if anything.

Not sure how Middlesbrough staff dress. Anyone got a spare transporter bridge to bring down ?

I know there’s one in Newport but doubt I’ll be able to tow it down the M4 and A34 at short notice without attracting attention
