Welcome back. Getting the banners out readying for the announcement of Martin?

I’ve been supporting Leicester city since 1960 but Martin will be the end of the line for me.

Peretz signing feels like it will give us a massive lift. To get it done so early in the window, and particularly after all the recent shite. Super pleased. He has been a rock at the back for us since Jan.

Will THB be encouraged to stay if he knows his hard work will be supported by having Boruc mk2 behind him? 🤞

Yep.

Peretz

Bree Stephens Wood Manning

Matsuki Downes Bragg Edozie

Azaz

Stewart/Larin

Is still a damn good championship team. You never know we could even keep one of THB, Scienza or Jander which would be even better.

Would still be a damn good Championship team - yet there's a big downgrade at CB if THB goes and isn't replaced.    Likewise a big downgrade in CM if Jander and Charles go and aren't replaced.   Don't think Bragg is up to first pick  partner for Downes at this stage.

Anyone at Werder we would want in a swap deal?

They have a stack of CBs, though the best of them is a 19yo being targeted by Champions League and Premier League clubs. If he goes, there's your Sugawara money.

Their captain is also a CB, 28yo, came through the Bayern academy setup and is going to the World Cup with Austria.

If THB is going (I'm not convinced he is), THB and Sugawara out, Marco Friedl and ~£15m in.

Getting Peretz done early is a huge show of intent.

Massive that he is coming because of Tonda too. Would he have come if the ‘Tonda Out’ merchants got their wishes?

We ain't getting anywhere near 50M for Charles.  I'm not sure if it's only 1 or 2 years left on his contract but he's unproven at PL level and wasn't even a guaranteed starter for us throughout our unbeaten run.  I reckon around the 20M mark.

20m is still tremendous business for a player who really hasn't lived up to the hype yet. Good in patches, clearly has a lot of ability, but often resorts to doing the safe thing or needlessly slowing the game down. He's the player I'm least worried about us losing.

Oh I'm sure we will bring in a cm and CB in that scenario. I'm still crossing my fingers that we make THB captain and he gives us one more year.

Adam’s tweet suggests maybe more than one signing today? Can only assume it will be Peretz, Larin, Bree or Stewart extension that could be announced.

€7.5-€8m?? So £6.5m-£7m. The fee was probably baked into the loan deal, but that's a steal for a keeper of his quality. Amazing bit of business.

I’d suggest it’ll include George Long judging by that tweet.

Do the capital letters used mean something?

L for Larin

G for goalkeeper Peretz

F for forward Stewart extension

I’m definitely reading too much into it. What about Breeeeeee

I'm not convinced Edozie is ever going to become the player we hoped. Should Scienza depart I think we would need to reinvest in that position.

Robinson?

Cohort of Robinson, Edozie, Matsuki and Fellows is pretty good.

Fellows will, one day, score a goal.

Fellows and Matsuki are not playing on the left, so let's leave them out of the discussion. No problem with either - different styles and thats a good thing.

Was Robinson injured? He was possibly our best player under Still, Scienza apart, but is a different type of player to Scienza and is he really a left winger or is he better suited as an Azaz understudy? Edozie as second choice...maybe that's OK. He's a different type to Robinson, so that is good, but I was so disappointed in his performance against Boro. He looked out of his depth IMO.

Blackmore’s “Long Good Friday” either means there will be 2 or 3 announcements today (Peretz, Larin, Bree maybe) or it’s Peretz only and it won’t be announced until 6 or 7 this evening 🤣

Slightly off topic but I don’t think many players will leave this summer.

I think Jander and Charles are the most likely.

I reckon there is a big chance THB stays for one more season and he is given captaincy.

I reckon Stewart too given we posted about him earlier this week.

Absolutely tremendous and not something I thought would happen (and certainly not this early in the summer.) If we can persuade THB to stay too then we will most likely have the best gk and CB in the league. Larin and Stewart if they sign up are a top strike force for the championship, fellows with a proper Pre season and Matsuki are top wingers. Lets hope Azaz and Downes stay and I'd say that if Tonda is still here we will be one of the favourites for promotion.

Honestly stunned this has happened. And so early. Thought with all that happened we wouldn’t have a realistic chance of Peretz on a perm. Thrilled to be proved wrong though. Well done saints. Nice to have some positive news

This is probably our most important signing in a long time. Not only is he probably the best keeper in the league, he has a claiming effect on those around him. Our entire defence will be better by his presence. How could the likes of Bree not want to sign on again and enjoy that?

I assume Peretz has already signed and it will be announced today.

Like last summer, we obviously want to fill the most glaring holes early. A little easier to do this time around.

Fair play for getting this signing done early, immediately sets the tone that we are not here to piss about.

Larin next please and extensions for Bree and Stewart.

He won't be 'given the captaincy', unless Jack is on his way.

Signing Peretz before the Ramsdale situation is sorted seems bold. Newcastle announced a few days ago that he was returning to us. I guess that doesn't mean he couldn't still sign on a permanent deal, but you'd think there'd be a little more positive noise if they were.

Posted

The other thing this signing does is show that the manager and the club is now one that people would want to play for. Peretz will have had serious superior options and still chose to sign for us. That bodes very well for this summer even when we will lose two or three.

They could make Jack club captain like they did with Kelvin.

who is club captain currently?  It kind of feels like Stephens has that role already.

Surely Ramsdale is an easy pick up for one of the promoted clubs. Could see him at Hull or Ipswich easily.

I expect we just have the one captain at the moment but when Kelvin was here we made him club captain I believe?

Would he? If so, why the hell wouldn't he have accepted them?

Saints are great, obviously, but is he really turning down a bigger club and more money (assuming they were offering first team football)?

It's very early in the summer and he is a quality keeper. The option to sign with us was with Bayern not him so he had to say yes. I think we have seen that his ability is above this league.

I just have a feeling we will see Bree contract extension, Larin signing and Stewart before the end of the day. Retained list out and then season tickets early next week.

his £125k a week wages or whatever it is are not an easy pick up though.

Personally, I couldn't recommend him high enough, but there have been a few on here suggesting we would have been better spending the money on an outfield player...perhaps those clubs might think the same? I'm surprised Newcastle have not bought him, but I guess they don't have the CL money so may need to go a little cheaper on a reserve keeper next season.

don't get me wrong, I think he is great, but players usually sign for us because we are their best option financially not because they like the head coach.

I think the point is that Daniel has moved early to commit to us which he should be commended for. If he'd waited there may have been many more offers coming in to him but he makes clear in his interview that he loves it here. Fair play to the guy and he's already my Player of the Season for 2026/27 🙂

From a media perspective, you'd want to put these great positive news stories out separately not all at once. It's a long summer with very little to announce. Dropping them all in a day seems silly - even if they are all done.
