The best third place race does include gd, and with only 3 pts and -3, it'll be tricky. They need to finish above 4 teams, so they need 4 of the 7 still active below scenarios to happen.

Group d - they need Australia to beat Paraguay  and USA to beat or draw with Turkiye

Group e - they need Germany to beat or draw with Ecuador and ivory coast to beat or draw with Curacao.

Group f - they need Japan to beat Sweden by 4 goals, and Netherlands to avoid a 5 goal defeat to Tunisia.

Group I - they need Iraq narrow win, or to draw with senegal

Group j - they need Austria to beat Algeria by two goals, Argentina to beat Jordan.

Group k - they need a draw between Congo and Uzbekistan, or a Uzbekistan win by less than four goals.

Group L - they need a Ghana win against Croatia by at least 3 goals  and for Panama not to win against England.

Would be sad to see Scotland scrape through based on one crappy win against a poor side but that's the nature of this World Cup. You don't need to do too much to get through. Cape Verde are far more deserving than Scotland of getting through and they may not yet.

If Scotland wanna go through they need to go for it in last 20 and try to improve their goal difference by at least 1 goal, maybe 2. Otherwise they will surely be out once everyone else has played.

Pathetic the way Scotland threw the game with 3 pieces of suicidal defending (with ref letting them off one of those). When you see way some so called lesser nations have got results through not gifting big team anything.

Fair enough. The issue is that he's had injuries and form challenges but in my opinion when he's fit, defensively and getting forward at times he is great.

Hindsight and all that, but they really needed to make the most of playing Haiti first game. I bigger win might have had them more comfortably placed for the farce of 3rd place qualification.
