Assert yourselves on this fucking game

Didn't see it that wayVery edgy, stop start game, and various times when we've been in good positions a player has run too far or made the wrong decision.

They're dirty bastards who've got away with all sorts too.

And the ref's a prick.

I've enjoyed it.

The ref is either gutless or bent.

How can it only be 3 minutes stoppage time? The water break alone is 3 minutes and that was one of the most stop start halfs we've seen this tournament.

Chance to get to HT though and reassess the plans. Need quicker tempo, use our athleticism and take them on. Bellingham and Gordon have done it a couple of times and drawn fouls in good areas. Need to roll about a bit more when they go in harder on our players.

The latter. He's been a disgrace.

If Argentina win this, will cement this as the worst World Cup as the final will be horrific.

Will be similar to W Germany v Argentina 1990, that was a shocker, niggly as fuck, far worse than this.

Messi big baby should be playing for Boro

I can’t see him training in the North East of England…

However, Will Salt might.

Messi is an absolute toss pot

Not in the same league as Pele for me. Or Maradona, cheated in 86 but he actually could handle himself. Or Ronaldo tbh. Messi has had one moment on a mazy run but otherwise run into blind allies. Lot of touches have gone out to touch or given to England.

I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far.

Not a single shot on target of course. But a proper game of old school football. Tetchy and tactical. Scrapping but not scrappy.

A bit of magic from both sides please in the second half (and maybe a bit of madness) and this will be a classic for the ages.

Oh, and my boy (and Tuchel pet project) Jeff Spence was the best player on the pitch first half. Great going forward and got Messi in his pocket 😉

Rooney needs subtitles.

What a pile of steaming shit. England letting them play the game they want to play. Fucking drive forward and attack them instead of continually recycling the ball. They are there for the taking but only if we play our game and not theirs.

Ref has been absolutely fine

Should have booked Simeone first but other than that he’s been fine

The England assistant manager is always good value for money. One question, one answer, wonderfully succinct analysis.

Lives near me, his kids plays and is bang average. Sadly he watches his games from his car as can’t be arsed speaking to parents 😂

What were you expecting?! It was never going to be an open game of free flowing football!  It's a world cup semi between two countries who hate each.

It's fecking brilliant.

We haven’t got on the front foot anywhere near enough.
They’ve suckered us into dead ends, we’ve had 1 shot and that was Stones header that never had a chance.

Germany - Argentina 1990. The worst ever. Two crap teams, neither deserving to win it.
The current Spanish team at least is top class.

Simeone wasn't the only one. Last 10 mins he got his act together. Until then, shocking imo.

Brilliant is the one thing it is not. We don't need to keep recycling the ball. On the few occasions we've got it down the flanks we've caused them problems and that's the way to go. Keep up the recycling and engage in a midfield battle and that will suit Argentina and they'll eventually nick it.

Or wants to stay out of the way so his kid doesn’t have the added pressure of being a pro footballer’s son, especially if he’s bang average (also doesn’t have the embarrassment of his mates/mates’ parents wanting to impress his Dad as he slices another one out of play)?

Richards. Yes sad to hear I’ve only been told it second hand as his kid is 2-3 years younger than mine. But he plays for a team 10 mins walk from my house so know a few parents there

Not surprised tbh. Any pundit who takes a personal barber on his travels is a bit of a prick.

Broadly agree, tempo up second half. As Shearer just said, quicker free kicks when we draw the fouls and then support Gordon and Bellingham better when they break.

We’ve looked quite controlled.

Argie tactics are to foul, pull shirts, look to get something for any touch and hopefully rely on a bit of Messi magic. England need to play above their shithousery.

Possibly that. As I say heard it second hand from a parent.

Our own shithousery used tactically, but with moments of raised tempo and pace where we catch them out.

We'll agree to differ mate. Tactical, edgy, tetchy. It's a proper football match.
