aren't they the fans that threw a military flash bang at us but couldn't do that right and hit there own ball boy,I for the life of me do not know why they didn't get a heavy punishment for that.

Definitely takes an edge off the day for sure. Previously you could feel something in the air almost when out around the city even hours before KO, the calm before the storm almost.

That's completely gone now.

That's completely gone now.

Lining up all the way from the station to the stadium to greet them behind their police lines, rumours of them jumping off the train at St Denys or Woolston to avoid the escort, little pockets of skates breaking away and causing grief. You’re right, you could feel it in the air around the city centre on derby day, there’s nothing else like it and the bubble has ruined that.

Mental to think there’s a whole generation that haven’t experienced a St Mary’s derby pre bubble.

Jander missed the Villa friendly due to injury. It's not looking good for Pompey or the foreseeable future, as you say, he will need a few games to get up to speed.

I think its relying on earlier speculation around his injury as a source, other than result and goal scorer there doesn't seem to be any reporting on who played in the game

That's completely gone now.

The edge may have gone, but you still know it's a derby. I overtook the Portsmouth coach on the M3 last year and outriders weren't allowing you in the middle lane. There were spotters/crime prevention officers on every bridge. At the top of the Avenue, there were half a dozen police transits and then the whole motorcade went down the Avenue with their lights on.

The atmosphere at the match wasn't great, but we were being served a lot of drivel at the time...

The M27 was similar last year: every bridge with more police than a Saturday night in the city centre. I can't recall why I drove, but if I get the train this year I'll be discreet going through Havant and Cosham!

Last year Southampton Central Station was closed all weekend for engineering works. Seems to be open this time

There have been a couple of articles about the police operation on the Portsmouth News website

"I would love for us to be in a position in the future - if the two clubs remain in the same league - that we won’t need buses. For the fans to have a much more normal experience, we need to make sure we are balancing that with the threat risk assessment... At the moment, the risk is at a point where between these two clubs it still needs that level of intervention. Ultimately, the game and the security arrangements are down to the club themselves and the police are supporting and advising... With the coaches, it’s called a managed travel approach within football, which is very much the decision of the football club. Clearly the police give advice to the club, but the football club have decided that the managed travel approach is what they want to adapt."

Apparently there will be fewer police officers this time around, and also it was the police that specifically requested the games to take place in October and February.

Hopefully we can move away from the bubble after this season. The fans really need to put pressure on the club.

Also, the Portsmouth coaches are arriving a bit later than last year, so hopefully it'll be the same for us and we won't have to get to the ground at 7am!!
