Tuesday night game in doubt?

Morning,

I just woke up to 4 inches of snow here in Brighton. The Beeb reckons it will last three days. What is the situation in Southampton? Was going to book hotel for tomorrow's game but it looks doubtful it will be played?

ta

It's a bit messy down here.

Not heaps of snow, but a good few inches and more expected later (still comiong down now).

The Radio is reporting that it's a combination of ice underneath and snow (StageCoach have just suspended their buses in the Winchester area & the airport is closed).

I don't think there will be a problem with the pitch, but could easily imagine the police and authorities making a decision due to public safety on the approaches.

I'd leave it a bit and then decide.

I would wait untill this evening. If it does snow like it is expected to, then i wouldn't bother.

Thanks. Good advice. I've got to say, even if the pitch is ok I wouldn't want to be one of the lads playing in sub-freezing temperatures. Cramp and all that.

I think the pitch will be fine - However, thoughts will be given to those travelling down and safety around the stadium.

Over 1 foot of snow in Epsom Surrey. No buses, No trains. I just watched the bloke opposite roll off his drive get stuck and then spend the next hour trying to push his small car back on, plumb!

Anyway I cannot see many transfers taking place today? Surely the ones that have taken place already and medicals and travel arrangements have already been made will go ahead.

I have never seen anything like it in my 35 years of life. Oh and I hate snow! lol

pitch has under-ground heating doesn't it?

No - the ground temperature shouldn't ever get low enough due to proximity to the river.

I must also live in another city as there is less than an inch of snow yet no one is able to move around the city due to the conditions.

Little wonder this country is in such a state. Can't be far off being placed in administration as country, let alone as a club.

5 inches and counting here in north Kent. All the local schools are closed and the minor roads unpassable. It is more a question of what is lurking off the east coast at the moment - the whole of Kent is expected to be under a blanket of snow this afternoon and that will spread northwestwards this evening. The Hampshire basin might be able to protect Southampton but as UP says, it may be more a question of public safety (paths, footways, stairs at SMS). Would be surprised if it's on at this rate.

Ha ha forgot about that...... that's a really good point (Unless the FA extend it)

Que Harry blaming the snow for not being able to strengthen his team

Ah oh! his poor wife cant expect anything for valentines day if he doesn't get any transfer 'bonuses'!

SSN just had a camera at the stadium, there is a lot of snow that would need to be cleared. It doesn't look good.

Surely SSN have a better use for their cameras than at SMS of transfer deadline day. It is hardly going to be a hive of business today (aside from potential exits)...

I expect the pitch was covered overnight so they can sweep it off. More snow expected but not that much.

As at now I would expect the game to go ahead but would be happy if it is postponed as I cannot go tomorrow.

It is covered Ron, could see it on the SSN video. The stands looked clear. depends on the roads, surrounds and car parks.

There are quite a few games off already including the one at the Emirates, where the pitch is perfectly playable but the surrounding areas are treacherous.
