Adam Lallana

Lallana is a class act and has the ability to turn the game in our favour. His vision, trickery and passing ability really is top draw and he is a very exciting player to have in the side.

I just hope we can tie him down to a long term contract soon. His current deal runs out at the end of the season so fingers crossed Rupert is in the process of putting a new deal together. I don't think I could take it if we lost him for nothing come the end of the season.

4 year contract discussions are underway I am informed. Just about finding a wage level acceptable to Adam and the club.

Mr Lowe has a high regard for Adam and even sorted out an urgent hernia operation with one of the top specialists before the season started so he would be fit to start.

He was brilliant. One of the best individual performances I've seen in a Saints shirt in well over a year.

I really hate the fact we had Gillett and Lallana sat in the reserves all last season while we insisted on playing **** like Idiakez, Viafara, Wright etc because the manager(s) where all too afraid to drop the big names.

'Afraid' Or 'Loyal'?

Too much of football is an old boys club. Back scratching that gets people everywhere. It's why some individuals are above critiscism fro their peers.

It's why Jan's attitude is so refreshing. I love that he isn't exactly media savvy and just says what he believes. I know at the fans forum he said what he wanted to say and didn't hide behind things like a politician.

This is just the start for Adam the more games he plays the so much better he`ll become just hope we can keep hold of him,a Saints legend in the making.

I've believed for a while that he has similar attributes to MLT in his early days. His composure on the ball is superb and he doesn't need great pace to beat a man. I just hope that we can keep hold of him.

I remember up at Kickers in Eastleigh they had a picture of Lallana as one of the young academy lads 3 or 4 years ago.

He has a big part to play this year and I hope he doesn't suffer a re-occurence of his hamstring injury that plagued him last year.

The good thing with the young lads like Adam, Simon, McGoldrick, Surman, Thomson is that they know each others game so well and unlike most seasons we actually have a squad of players that have played together for a few years.

I really hope we can tie him down but I have my doubts. I know somebody who went to school with him and apparently Lallana was very arrogant. He also wanted to break into the Saints team as he saw this as a platform where he could move onto a bigger club.

Let's just hope this doesn't happen.

Great clip, terrible music

Yeah, well I only found the video. I didn't make it.

It's funny - most of those Saints kids are from the Home Countries and they look like Brazil at times. No scrub that - they look better. :D

This applies to all young players for any club outside the top 3.

Total ******** sounds like some jealous prat who didn`t like him,and as it happens the finishing touches being made to his new contract at the moment, everybody wants to better themselves at some stage but Adam is more than happy playing his football with Saints.

Build a team around players like this. resist any offer/temptation to sell or indulge any offers at any price. If we do this and things continue as they are going, we may just be witnessing the beginning of the turn away from our last few horrendous years. Build saints build! The price we would pay for letting our current crop of good players go would be immesureable

I'm glad if this is the case (as I stated in my previous post), was only relaying information as you are now.

Aye, but how many footballers are still like that at the age of 20+!? ;)

Still, here's hoping he signs a new contract and has a long and distinguished career with Saints... the MLT of his generation! :)

that's a load of rubbish! he was always a nice guy and no more arrogant then any of us would be in his shoes! considering when he was at school we were a 'big club' (left school year after fa cup final) i don't really thing we can read anything into him wanting to leave to better himself.

Absolute B8ll8cks my son spent 3 years training with Adam and we got to know him and his family really well and we still keep in touch. Let me tell you he is a top top guy. His mum and dad would never let him get like that.

That is completely true his mum and dad have kept his feet firmly on the ground they wouldn`t stand for that sort of behaviour from him he is a true gent. But it dosn`t surprise me that some people are waiting for any sort of **** gossip to filter about.

Just a thought, to the tune of among others, "Thats why your going down":

La La Lallana, etc etc etc.

Quality young player and it sounded like he ran the game today. Anyone know how White did on the right today?

That must have taken you ages to think up.

Lets just hope it happens but this is Saints' date=' 2 steps forward 1 back throughout its history.[/quote']

Agreed that its been 2 steps forward one back through most of our history. But in the past few years it has been 1 step forward, two back.

Being Saints and without being run by anybody with any serious cash, it will be sod's law that home grown players like Lallana and Gillett will be off as soon as the temptation of playing for mega bucks in the Premiership rears its ugly head. Our only hope is that we ourselves get back soon into the land flowing with milk and honey and they might decide to stay.

That's far to simple, I think its been more like:

2 steps forward, 3 hops to the left, 2 skips to the south east, a cartwheel north and 1 step backwards.

I've watched him play in the U.18's and ressies lots of times and I can honestly say that IMO he is a more effective attacking threat than Theo ever was. He may not have Theo's sheer pace and acceleration but he has more footballing intellegence than Theo ever will and more trickery. His finishing is first rate also.

I want to avoid comparing him to a young MLT but it is difficult not to. We don't often see someone for Saints playing with flair and natural ability in the middle of the park like this.

Lallana will step up to England U.21's soon I would think.
