expect a deal THIS WEEK...

with our fate (+\- 10points) already sealed, I would expect an announcement in the next few days. New owners will want to introduce themselves, and make the best of a bad season and give everyone a chance to meet them and get media coverage

while the season is still unfinished. PLUS - a chance to watch the last game v. Forest to see their NEW team.

I don't have access to names...but the likes of a " Souness consortium," or even " Hoddle consortium " wouldn't be a bad choice, IMHO both were "victims" of their encounters with Lowe (one way or another) and are , at least - " real football ".

Hopefully they'll be no trace of the previous Board (with a few exceptions - Mary).

Sooner the better and let's get on with the planning. Good for the club, fans and players to know what's happening ASAP.

COYR !!!!!!

It all sounds very much up in the air, at present doesn't it ?

I think we can safely say ..it's Monday, but only until midnight.

But midnight where? If it's an Australian based consortium we've got less than 6 hours of Monday to go, if Hawaiian based it's not even Monday yet. We need to stop with this senseless speculation as to what day it is until we know the identities of the bidders ;)

Which leads to a question, from my simplistic viewpoint. Let's say we get a team that has won the bid, all that's needed is to dot the 'i's and cross the 't's. Meanwhile the club gets into a 'we need £100k today or we fold' situation. Can the bid winners stump this up to avoid folding? In fact, would it be wise (given that it would probably be in their interests to)?

I guess that if we can put money in buckets then so could they, no ?

My point in answering a prev.comment was that this is a day to thing,

...and the "midnight comment " was a joke (Saint Donkey).

I don't think you need to be a clairvoyant to figure out that with one match to go, already relegated and the money having run out - we have to expect a decision soon......and sooner rather than later.

IF.. I was buying Saints (which sadly I can't ) I'd want a high-profile announcement (ala McMenemy/ Keegan deal 1980 - and not at the Potters Heron either!) Use the sympathetic media to bring in the new regime, while

the season is still ongoing, and give players a chance to assess their futures.

After Sunday the CCC season will be history and we'll be in League 1 - so hopefully a new owner in place will help everyone have a peaceful summer.

As money is going to be tight, is it possible that new owners will want to take over AFTER the final game, thus saving them a few grand in payments to loanees and out of contract players. Or is that what these CVA things are all about?

Would be nice if it is this week though, as Forest will be a massive party whataver the result.

I'd take a similar approach. I'd want players to be able to decide whether they see a future at Southampton before the end of the season and I'd want fans to go out on an optimistic note.

We can then enjoy a summer of debate over who is coming and going, who CDAJFU and hopefully get a decent pre-season in with a new manager.

By now I would have also teed up the person I would like to bring in as manager, with a view to them starting straight away. I'd be surprised if a serious consortium or individual buyer didn't do this.

The Grauniad reckons we'll fold if we don't conclude a deal within 8 days:

Yeah, saw that before coming on here which made me pop in for a look. I've been too depressed to look before. I hope the FL show some common sense (hah!), but if a club of Saints' history can fold completely the whole pack of cards might come tumbling down: I can't see our debts being that much greater than many clubs.

Uncertainty as the whether we will get further fines for the alledged pitch invasion, non-cooperation/appeal may yet put buyers off.

I hope and think that whoever it is that is going through the process of bidding will be taking a strategic view of this club and not being influenced by recent events. Anyone in their right minds will be thinking about transforming the club not maintaining it.

Just been on TV that Tom Scott has denied he is involved with or without Lowe. Take that at face value as I do not see the point in making such a statement if within 5 days or so he does turn out to be one of the bidders. The statement said categorically he is not in cahoots with Lowe.

The most interesting thing, to me anyway, about this is the fact he deemed it necessary to distance himself from Lowe. It seems that being linked to Lowe is not something successful people want.

He could have just as easily not said anything and all this talk would have gone away once a deal with somebody else is complete.

But he took the time to distance himself from Lowe and from buying Southampton. Either a clever buying tactic, or somebody in the press hassled him for a quote?

Tomorrow? Either Virign or a consortium of 5?

My dream, would be a Mr so loaded I do not know what to do with all this money, buy's Saints, with his his first appoinments being LM as Director of football and Keegan as head coach. That would give us a real buzz, we could tell all the banks to go forth and multiply; but in not so many words and get on with re-building the club.

For any of those who have not read Mark Twain, he is quoted to have given the following definition of a Bank manager. "He is someone who gives you an umbrella when the sun is shining, however, as soon as it starts to rain he wants it back". That is so true and highlights exactly what happened to Saints, lets pray for the right result over the next week or so.

Tbh, I'm having massive doubts about a takeover... :(

It's almost reassuring that things have gone quiet... it's hopefully a sign that things are being done properly. During takeover rumour season before, there were all sorts of 'in the know' comments and reports coming out of thin air.

If things are being done properly and professionally, nobody involved should be talking to anybody else about it.

So if something appears in the press or from somebody 'in the know' here on this forum, consider it B.S :)

I have to agree... but I'd still keep LM around as a club ambassador or something similar.

I don't want Keegan as manager either. Big name and to be respected for his playing career, but he's hardly achieved great success as a manager. I also think he would be out of the door as soon as a 'bigger' club came knocking should we achieve anything, which is exactly what we need to avoid if we are to rebuild!

Say what you like about Lawrie Frank. But there is no doubt in my mind that he would be a good figurehead for the club. PR is definitely his forte.

The title of this thread is somewhat misleading TBH. It suggests the poster knows something WILL happen this week.

He does.., he knows as sure as eggs are eggs that it will get dark at night.

Surely you didn't click on here expecting an 'Exclusive' did you? C'mon now - how many real ITK'ers do you honestly think frequent this site eh....!!!

But I take your point - we were both hooked by a very non-informative snippet really.

I'm making a qualified judgement (from a biz/ PR´/ ownership perspective) and what's best for the club and in everyone's interest.

So ...I think that we'll have an announcement before the weekend.

I said in the first thread that I didn't have any inside / secret info.

If I'm wrong, I'll come back and apologise to anyone who thinks I'm unrealistic.

You have a point Franks cousin, however, It was LM that brought Keegan to Saints; on top of that say what you will about Keegan, but he took Newcastle, Fulham and Man City into the premiership; provided of course he has the money to do it with and would not recomend him if that fat cheque book was not their.

You mean you're guessing.

I would like a takeover to happen this week too, and it would be nice to have it all sorted before the last game of the season.

I don't really get why this is best for the club, other than as soon as possible is best for the club.

Quite honestly even unsuccessful people with any sense would be best off not being linked to Lowe
